This presentation shows how BCPC can be organized utilizing the community organizing process to ensure functionality and sustainability. The elements of organizing, namely, education and training, organization-building, resource mobilization and people's participation are key. This can be used by social workers and community development workers, who have a good grasp of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and national and local governance structures mandated to protect and promote children's rights.

KALP Samaj Sewi Santha, in collaboration with PACS initiated “Affirmation of Social justice and Economic Equity of SC, ST, Muslim, Women, through Non-discriminatory accesses to Livelihood , With special focus on NREGA’’ Project which has been a wonderful journey to work with socially excluded communities in two districts ie Janjgir-champa and Baloda Bazar district. Over the period of almost 4 years of project’s duration, our mainly interventions were on non-discriminatory access to livelihood focusing on NREGA. We had a meaningful interventions into the life of the marginalised by engaging itself at two levels 1) Seeking new avenues of interventions and generating essential recourses for such process. 2) Continued the moral back up support emerged through the four years exercise.

Through the Administrative Order #5: DSWD guideline in Gender and Development mainstreaming and Department’s Gender and Development mainstreaming framework to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program; to facilitate integration of GAD in the systems, structures, policies, processes and procedures of the Department a process flow was done in order to facilitate the capturing of gender related issues or gaps through the assistance of Grievance Redress System (GRS). In this process flow, it assists the Regional Program Management Office (RPMO), Provincial Operations Office (POO) and Municipal Operations Office (MOO) in handling gender related issues and how they will respond immediately and appropriately into the gender related cases of their Pantawid Beneficiaries.

In 2009, the Centre for Social Research along with WomenPowerConnect and supported by the United Nations Democracy Fund, designed and implemented a training program for women leaders across India. In the world's largest democracy, women hold a mere 10% of seats in India's parliament. Women’s slim percentage in Indian Parliament also reflects their lack of participation in decision-making process. The goal of our project, "Enhancing the Role of Women in Strengthening Democracy", was to enhance the capacity of women to contest elections, sensitize state and national political parties in order to remove barriers for women, and strengthen the network of women across India in order to advocate for women's issues. Drawing on expertise from seasoned women politicians, as well as our own in-house gender experts, CSR prepared a substantial and thorough training module which was executed by 108 trainers in 30 trainings across India. The training was comprised of 13 modules covered over three days. In addition to the in-person trainings, the CSR team designed and launched an online certificate course in leadership, which can be found at www.womenleadership.in The core strategy of the project was “Train, Contest, Win”. Women’s leadership capacities were built in order to reduce the gender deficit by imparting training to create a pipeline of 1,000 women leaders who would be motivated to contest elections for state legislatures & national parliament. Participant women were selected from across India, with proportional regional representation. Special emphasis was placed on building leadership amongst the marginalized women belonging to Scheduled caste/Scheduled tribe and backward classes. It is only a matter of time before the Women's Reservation Bill is passed, reserving 33% of seats in state and national government for women. When this day comes, the need for programs to build the capacities of women who want to contest will become even more urgent than it is today. We are proud to have helped 1,000 women in their preparations for contesting elections and we will continue to provide support and encouragement for these women leaders as they pursue their careers in the years to come. But the work can't stop there. Our goal is to provide training and support to as many women as possible at local, state, and national levels, across party lines, and regardless of caste or class. If the serious issues facing the women of India are to be confronted, women themselves must take their rightful seat at the table.

Nigeria’s ﬁrst National Youth Policy1 (NYP), the framework that guides all matters related to youth development in Nigeria, was ﬁrst formulated in 1989. This was followed up with a new National Youth Policy under a democratic dispensation in 2001 by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports. The 2001 NYP made provision for a review every 5 years. A revised one was developed and adopted by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in 2009. In 2016, the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development (FMYSD) — the ministry responsible for youths in Nigeria — kick-started a review process that is two years late. Nevertheless, for such a document to be comprehensive, it is important that Nigerian youths, for whom the policy was originally designed, are part of the process.

NCPA has been working since its establishment to protect and promote the right to protection of the children. It has organized two national conferences. The first conference exposed the major child protection agenda form the local and thematically unconcerned areas. For example right to protection of the children belonging to Muslim community and LGBTI had not yet come into mainstream debate. However the conference mainstreamed those issues into national debate. The second conference brought all the thematic discussions into a prioritized area of child protection problems and tried to seek the solution through policy analysis and implementation gap in the presence of wider range of stakeholders including sectoral government agencies representation. http://youtube.com/cwishnep

Happy International Youth Day and welcome to the latest update of UNDP Asia Pacific’s Youth Empowerment initiative. This year, the theme for International Youth Day is “Safe Spaces for Youth”. This refers to civic spaces, physical public spaces and digital spaces which allow young people to engage in decision making, participate fully in their communities and interact virtually with others across borders. In order for young people to be able to effectively contribute to social and economic development, it is crucial that these spaces are inclusive of all youth. In many countries in the Asia-Pacific region, as in the rest of the world, youth are effectively excluded from decision making and political forums, and their access to and participation in public spaces is restricted. This is particularly true for young women and other marginalised youth, and further entrenches existing social tensions and inequalities.
