14. Blood is issued on exchange basis.
Donations Camps are organized regularly.
Voluntary donors are given donor card valid
for one year. This card can be exchanged for
blood.
How ever testing fees are charged in all cases
except for the very poor who are given free or
at a subsidized rate.
15. Break even point – We reached the break
even point issuing only whole blood at 500
units.
Since the operation of component unit
started we are in surplus.
16. Contact the local Directorate of Drug Control
for minimum requirements.
Area required – 100 sq. mtrs for Whole Blood
and additional 50 sq. mtrs. for component
facility.
8 rooms out of which 5 should be air
conditioned.
Appointment of staff as required under the
Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
17. For only whole blood – approx. 20-25 lacs
(excluding cost of infrastructure) depending
upon the number and make of the
equipments.
For Blood Component unit - additional
approx. 30-35 lacs.
18. Obtaining initial License is a long and
cumbersome process.
Sourcing technical staff is very difficult in
small places and the salaries are very high.
It is a very sensitive Project.
Once a reputation of quality and service is
established it becomes self sufficient very
soon.
It is a great PR for any Club.
