Lipogems Equine Sponsors at Newbury Racecourse - November 2017 Press Release
Monday 13 November 2017
Lipogems® Equine Sponsors at Newbury Racecourse
This partnership is part of Lipogems® Equine outreach to all equestrian disciplines that will
benefit from being offered the most cutting-edge treatment.
Lipogems® Equine is a new innovative application of regenerative medicine available for
treating horses and ponies from all disciplines. Unlike many other veterinary treatments
Lipogems® Equine has come from the human medical world to the veterinary world with a
background of extraordinary results. The treatment can be performed at the owner’s yard or at
a specific Lipogems Equine referral centre.
Saving Champions with Human Technology
Lipogems Equine has been directly translated from the human world. There are many published
papers both on the science and effects of Lipogems on humans. We have selected papers which
can be downloaded from www.slideshare.net/lipogemsequine
Lipogems Equine has successfully treated horses and ponies from all disciplines including
orthopaedic and soft tissue injuries. The success stories include; returning to qualify for
Badminton Horse Trials, winning Overall Supreme Champion in the show ring at the first outing
and a consistent season of 18 goal polo for one of the world’s top polo players.
Lead Lipogems® Equine Veterinary Surgeon Dr Tim Watson with Consultant Vet to Lipogems®
Equine Dr Murray Shotter and a list of worldwide accredited vets at over 30 different referral
centres trained by them have successfully treated a range of injuries and degenerative diseases
including but not exclusive to:
Tendon injuries with core lesions (e.g. check and suspensory ligaments)
Desmitis (Inflammation of a ligament)
Chronic desmitis (Chronic inflammation of a ligament)
Soft tissue injuries to the stifle joint
Synovitis (Inflammation of a synovial membrane)
Early osteoarthritis (Degenerative joint disease)
How is Lipogems® Equine different?
Lipogems Equine works by micro-fragmenting adipose tissue (tissue harvested from fat) obtained
from Lipoaspirates, through a non-enzymatic, mechanical processing using the closed system and
disposable device. Adipose tissue is harvested using a vacuum syringe from around the hind quarters,
after the region has been anaesthetised by local infiltration with sterile saline and Lidocaine.
The harvested fat tissue using the Lipogems® device is washed in saline and gently agitated so that
the all-important Pericytes detach from small vessels and activate. These cells with the stromal
vascular structure of adipose tissue acts as a local scaffold to maintain regenerative activity for many
months. The whole procedure from harvesting to the injection is completed in less than 40 minutes
in a stable.

About Lipogems® International SPA
Invented by Dr. Carlo Tremolada, a renowned Italian maxillofacial plastic surgeon and president of
Lipogems® International SPA, who was searching for a way to create a smoother, more viscous fat graft
for filling defects and creating natural volumetric enhancement of the face. Unexpectedly, his patients
experienced a significant decrease in bruising and inflammation normally associated with these
procedures, and demonstrated substantial regenerative effects on the underlying tissues.
Subsequently, scientific colleagues at the University of Miami, the Pasteur Institute in Paris, and UCLA,
have identified and validated unique regenerative characteristics within the Lipogems®.
The Lipogems® system received FDA 510(k) clearance in the U.S in December of 2014.
The efficient closed-loop device, initially used only in plastic and reconstructive surgery, showed
remarkable benefits for orthopaedic indications, opening enormous market potential in the US. Equines
within the UK can now be treated by veterinary surgeons trained by the Lipogems® Equine and Lipocast
Biotech UK team. For more information click here or visit www.lipogems.eu/index-eng.html
About Newbury Racecourse
Newbury Racecourse held its first race in 1905 and has long been one of Britain's leading tracks, staging up
to 30 days of top class Jump and Flat racing annually, with at least one raceday in every month of the
year. The highlight of Newbury's Jump racing programme is the £250,000 Ladbrokes Trophy, a handicap
chase over an extended three and a quarter miles, which takes place on December 2 in 2017. On the Flat,
Newbury's high-quality programme includes the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes in May, with the Group One
race over a mile worth £350,000. The racecourse is also a thriving events venue, hosting a huge range of
activities including weddings, concerts, and conferences for 20 to 1,000 attendees for a wide spectrum of
businesses and organisations in stunning surroundings. In addition, it runs a successful private nursery,
providing a safe, happy and stimulating learning environment for many pre-school children. Newbury is
now home to a major housing development by David Wilson Homes, allowing people to live in a unique
location alongside a world-renowned sporting venue, which also benefits from a Nuffield Health Club. The
racecourse now has its own 36-bedroom hotel, The Lodge, which opened in June, 2016 and the £20-million
'heartspace' redevelopment of the Racecourse, which began in 2016, is now well underway. To find out
