Twitter is an online social media website and phenomenon that is spurring a new revolution on the Internet -- and in modern business. More than 50 million users have joined its ranks in the past two years, and Twitter.com is amongst the most heavily used and most influential websites on the Internet. This online presentation provides an overview of Twitter, its position and context on the Internet relative to other online tools and social media (Web 2.0), and how to use Twitter as a business tool for increasing sales, and building (or safe-guarding) corporate reputation. Presented by Toby Ward, Prescient Digital Media, for IFCA, Insurance and Financial Communicators Association (members only webinar).

Liz Davis and I used this slidedeck as we worked with attendees at BLC10 to build their networks on Twitter Are you wondering what all the fuss is about? Have you tried it and still do not get it? In this session we will focus on the ways Twitter can be harnessed to build a rich and powerful learning community. We will discuss tips and tricks to leverage the potential of this network. Resources will be provided to help attendees set up their own networks during and/or after the session. Finally, we will capitalize on the face-to-face connections within the workshop to further enrich our online learning communities.

How I used social media to teach people about how to use social media. An experiment, too: how many times will this be shared by 25 October, and how many connections will it create for me? I'll present this to a set of delegates at a conference in ICT in Higher Education being held in South Africa, and am curious to see whether this approach will encourage people to share their thoughts and make new connections.

With the budget cuts in NJ schools this past year, many educators don't have funding for PD. Our NJECC meeting this month will be about how schools are dealing with the cuts, what types of PD their districts are spending money on and of course, how we can harness the power of our networks to bring in free professional development virtually.

One of the most effective ways to get students collaborating with each other is to use tools that are easily accessible. If the tools are browser agnostic, have no demand for installations or updates, and are intuitive, the collaboration is more likely to be effective. Together, let’s look at Google Forms, Docs and Sites as a suite of tools to facilitate and foster Global collaborations.

Whether your PLN is overflowing or just starting to grow, this workshop will help you to refine your network to best suit your learning needs. I will lead you to interesting people who advocate for the effective use of technology to improve teaching and learning. These leaders will challenge your assumptions, answer your questions and make you think. If you are not sure where to look for the right people, or you just want to learn about some fresh voices, you will leave this session with inspiring additions to your personal learning network. These ed-tech leaders write blogs, maintain wikis, UStream their keynotes and publish their podcasts. You can find them all over the cloud. Join us for a tour of the top 25. (P.S. This list will not include any of the presenters at BLC10 as you can meet them face-to-face.)

Discover the Kisan Call Centre: Your Gateway to Agricultural Assistance KISAN CALL CENTRE In order to harness the potential of ICT in Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare launched the scheme “Kisan Call Centres” (KCCs) on January 21, 2004. Main aim of the scheme is to answer farmers’ queries on a telephone call in their own language. These call centres are working in 21 different locations in the country covering all the States and UTs. A countrywide common eleven digit Toll Free Number 1800-180-1551 has been allotted for Kisan Call Centre. This number is accessible through mobile phones and landlines of all telecom networks including private service providers. Replies to the farmers’ queries are given in 22 local languages.
