4. General Traffic Patterns During Construction
- Minimum two lanes in each direction on I-40, I-77 & US 21
during time restrictions
- Multiple traffic shifts throughout construction life:
- I-40: throughout the project length
- I-77: just north of existing bridges over I-40
- US 21: Upon completion of US 21 widening, traffic
will be in a one thru lane/one left-turn lane
pattern each way for up to 90 days until final
pattern is open.

 During crossover operation, traffic will be
reduced to one travel lane in each direction
on one side of I-40 with barrier dividing
traffic directions.

23. Stopping Traffic
 Contractor will be allowed to stop traffic for 30
minutes for Traffic Operations (shifts, tie-ins,
etc.) outside the following time restrictions:
 I-40: 5 a.m. to 12:00 midnight, Monday to Sunday
 I-77: 4 a.m. to 12:00 midnight, Monday to Sunday
 US 21: 5 a.m. to 12:00 midnight, Monday to Thursday
5 a.m. Friday to 12:00 midnight Sunday
 For overhead structure work, 60 minutes
stoppage time will be allowed on US 21 using
the above restrictions.
