5. ACTION OF RECONCILING
The Roman Catholic Sacrament of PENANCE
“I am SORRY God for what I have SIN”
“FORGIVE ME, LORD”
“I confess to you my brothers and sisters…”
6. What is the sacrament of Penance?
Penance is the sacrament by which sins committed after the
BAPTISM are forgiven through the absolution of the priest.
“Medicine for our SOUL”
Passion Of Christ
Healing action of Christ
Spiritual Health
7. The Priest has the Power to Forgive sins from Jesus Christ
“Receive the Holy Spirit;
whose sin you shall
forgive, they are forgiven
them; whose sin you shall
retain, they are retain”
Only God can FORGIVE sins.
BUT He can decide for Himself
how He wants to do it.
The way He has decided upon
is to use a priest as His
instrument.
8. The priest forgive sins with the words
I absolve thee from thy
sins in the name of Father,
and of the son , and of the
Holy Spirit. Amen
9. The effects of the sacraments of Penance, worthily receive,
are:
The restoration or increase of sanctifying grace
Forgiveness of sins
Remission of the eternal punishment, if necessary,
and also of part, at least, of the temporal punishment, due to our sins
The help to avoid sin in future
The restoration of the merits of our good works
if they have been lost by mortal sin
10. 5. Accept your Penance
4. Confess your SINS
3. Have Purpose of Amendment
2. Be Truly SORRY

11. PAGSISIS
I
Contrition is a sincere sorrow for having offended God,
and hatred for the sins we have committed , with a firm of
sinning NO MORE.
Will GOD forgive us any sin unless we have true
contrition for it?
God will not forgive us any sin, whether mortal or venial,
unless we have true contrition for it.
When is sorrow for sin true contrition?
Sorrow for sin is true contrition when it is
interior, supernatural, supreme,and universal.
12. INTERIOR
Our sorrow is interior when its comes
from our hearts,
not merely from our lips.
13. Supernatural
Supernatural means “above the natural”.
It is Natural to be sorry for the action when something unpleasant happen to us.
It is Supernatural to be sorry for the sins because of what God has told us.
14. Our sorrow is supreme when
we hate sin above every other evil,
and are
willing to endure any suffering rather
than offend God in the future by sin.
15. Our Sorrow is universal when we are sorry for
every mortal sin which we may have had the misfortune
to commit.
16. We may not receive Holy Communion after committing after
committing a mortal sin if we merely act of perfect contrition;
one who has sinned grievously must go to confession before
receiving Holy Communion.
What is the firm purpose of sinning NO MORE?
The firm purpose of sinning NO MORE is the
sincere resolve not only to avoid sin but to avoid as
far as possible the near occasion of sin.
17.
18. Confession is telling of our sins to an authorized
priest for the purpose of obtaining forgiveness.
Why must confess our SINS?
We must confess our sins because Jesus Christ obliges us to do in these words,
spoken to the apostles and to their successors in the priesthood:
“Receive the Holy Spirit;
whose sin you shall
forgive, they are forgiven
them; whose sin you shall
retain, they are retain”
19. “Receive the Holy Spirit; whose
sin you shall forgive, they are
forgiven them; whose sin you
shall retain, they are retain”
These words of Christ oblige us to confess our sins because the priest cannot know
whether he should forgive or retain our sins unless we tell them to him.
Is it necessary to confess EVERY SIN?
It is NECESSARY to confess every mortal sin which has not yet
been confessed and forgiven;
It is NOT NECESSARY to confess our venial sins, but it is better to do so.
20. “It is my FAULT.” “I am TELLING the “I am LEAVING
TRUTH.” NOTHING OUT.”
21.
22. … because this is a GRAVE SCARILEGE
… because the priest, who
represents CHRIST HIMSELF, is bound
by the seal of the sacrament of Penance
NEVER TO REVEAL anything that has
been confessed to him.
