2. The senses
• We need our senses to understand our
sorroundings.
• We have five senses:
• Sight
• Hearing
• Smell
• Taste
• Touch
3.
4. 1.Touch
• Our body is completely covered by skin.
• Through our skin
we can feel cold,
heat or pain.
5. 2. Sight
• We use our eyes to see.
• Some parts of the eyes are for vision: eyeball,
pupil, iris, lens, retina.
• Pupil is in the
center of the
eye.
• Iris can be
brown, green or
blue.

eyelashes
7. Sight
• We can see colours, shapes, sizes,
positions and distances.
• We need light to see.
• It is not good for our
eyes if we read or write
with not enough light.
8. 3. Hearing
• We can hear different sounds and tell
where the sounds come from.
• We have two parts:
– Outer parts: the ears.
– Inner parts are
inside our head.
9. Hearing
• Sound vibrates and go into our ears along
the ear canal.
• Vibrations reach the ear drum.
• The movement of the ear drum reaches
the small bones and the cochlea.
• The cochlea collects the information and
sends it to the brain.
11. 4. Taste
• We can taste food and drink with our
tongue.
• We can distinguish flavours with the taste
buds that are on the surface of our
tongue.
• We can distinguish
four flavours: sweet,
salty, sour, and bitter.
12. 5. Smell
• When we breath, air goes in through the
nose.
• We also use our nose to distinguish
