skate. I like school, I like
to read and I like to spell. I
do not like tomatoes or
onions. I like Mac &
cheese, pizza, and grilled
cheese. I’m choosing this
animal because nobody
really knows about
hedgehogs, nobody really
cares about hedgehogs so
that’s why I picked it.

 The Hedgehog
species weight is
around 14 to 39
oz. Their head to
body is 5 to 12
inches, tail 1 to 2
inches so their
size is related to a
teacup. Their
color ranges from
white to dark
brown.

4. The Early Years
 These solitary animals
typically couple only for
mating. The young is born
each year, in litters ranging
from one to eleven, they
remain with their mother
for only four to seven
weeks before heading out.
Different hedgehog species
breed at different times of
the year, but most mate in
the spring, and produce 4-
6 off spring. The are born
naked with ears and eyes
closed. Spines are present
at birth, but lie under skin
and sprout in 36 days and
teeth in 21 days, and eyes
open in 14 days.
