Newsletter for recycling
1. What’s going on in the classroom this week… This presentation will provide you with information about what your child is doing this week in my classroom.
2. Overview of the Unit… During this upcoming week the students and I will be talking about recycling. We will talk about why recycling is important, all the different ways we can recycle and how recycling betters our community. The activities will go as follows: Students will learn various ways to recycle. Along with why it is important and the process of recycling (using multiple examples). After learning the various ways to recycle I will then hand out a piece of paper everyday before class starts as the students are coming into the classroom. On this piece of paper is going to include: what task the students has to complete (involving recycling) by the end of the day, the purpose of the task and how it helps our environment. Students are more than welcome to work together and do more than the task on the piece of paper.
3. Expected Roles: Teacher, Parents, and Students… Parent.. Will monitor child and/or help their child if they need assistance in the task. Will make sure their child is doing their task and recording it in their journal. Students.. Will be responsible for completing the task they are given. In which I will hand out. Are also to record in a journal what their task was, how they completed it, and how did the task relate to our community and/or our environment.
4. Benefits to this project.. The benefits to this project include: Students being hands-on and involved within their community. An understanding of why it is so important to recycle and what exactly recycling does for our environment. They also get to experience group work and coming together as a group to finish a task. This helps students understand how important it is to work with our peers.
