6. Blogging for purpose Creative 2.0 Dr. Gino Yu is chairman of the Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Assocation. He received his PhD at the University of California at Berkeley in 1993 where he worked to establish multimedia initiatives such as the Integrated Media Systems Center. He later taught and worked in Hong Kong where he helped to establish the Center for Enhanced Learning Technologies at the University of Science and Technology and the Multimedia Innovation Centre at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), a leading edge think tank and research centre on digital entertainment. He is currently an Associate Professor and Director of Digital Entertainment and Game Development in the School of Design at PolyU where he oversees MERECL, a commercial digital entertainment entity that provides consulting, research, instruction and new ideas for the industry. Vera Tollmann studied Cultural Studies in Hildesheim and Liverpool. From 2004 to 2006 she worked as programme curator for the international media art festival transmediale in Berlin. As an independant curator, she recently curated the group exhibition Hands-on history and the video programme Picturing free knowledge. She publishes articles on internet issues and contemporary art. Her text 'I will chocolate you' deals with the internet use in China and the role of the western world, published in springerin. She lives in Berlin. Régine Debatty initiated we-make-money-not-art.com a pioneering weblog for critical media art and cultural discourse. She studied Classics in Belgium and England, worked as a teacher of Latin and ancient Greek, then moved to media, directing documentaries for Belgian national TV, working as a reporter for the radio Onda Cero in Spain and as a consultant for the MEDIA programme of the European Commission in Italy. She is now an independent writer and researcher in electronic art. As a jury member she participates in several new media art and interaction design commissions and festivals. In 2005, he started the movement for adopting Chinese bloggers on overseas servers. Mao is a venture capitalist, blogger, software architect, entrepreneur and researcher in learning and social technology. He divides his time between research, social works, business and technology.He is now Vice President of United Capital Investment Group and Director to Social Brain Foundation, advisor to Global Voices Online and several web 2.0 businesses.
