The document summarizes the secondary target audience for a music video. It states that the primary audience is 16-25 year olds, but the secondary audience could include older or younger people. It describes how the secondary audience would have more variety in terms of age, social class (including lower-middle and working classes), activities, interests, living situations, and demographics. Two examples of the secondary audience are provided: a 40-year-old electrician who enjoys dance music, and a 68-year-old man who likes disco music and has interests in walking and meeting his brother.
2. Age
The Primary audience for my music video is people
aged 16-25. However, people who are older than 25 will
also like this video, this is because dance music is so
varied and is suitable for so many audiences that
anyone can enjoy the music. In addition, dance house
songs will give the listener nostalgia to the times when
they were younger and could relate to these songs and
their music videos. Therefore this shows that more than
just the aimed target audience can listen to the song or
watch the music video and have different reasons for
liking it. Which is what all songs would like as a
response as you get the most support of the song.
Gender
The music industry is very varied with gender
and songs. This is because you get songs that
are mainly aimed for females and the same for
males but in the end both genders will be able
to relate to the song and music video. This is
why I will try to add some people into my
music video from the secondary audience to
show the variation but I will mainly target the
16-25 year olds.
3. Social Class
The Primary social class target audience is
AB. This is Upper class and Upper Middle
class. The secondary audience would be
anyone who isn’t either if these so that
consists of
•Lower Middle Class,
•Working Class,
•Poor.
These three social classes will still listen to
the music if they are interested in the
individual type of dance music used in the
song and music video. They might also
appreciate the video especially if it is suited
for Upper and Upper Middle class people,
then they would be able to watch it and
think that they want to do what the person
in the video is doing or go to a location
shown in the video.
Psychographics
The secondary target audience for
Psychographics is everyone who isn’t in the
Upper or Upper Middle class and who isn’t ages
16-25. Therefore the range of ages and social
classes would have a huge variety of activities
that the could do. These could range from
going to the cinema with your friends to
staying in and doing revision at home, there is
such a large variety. So, any of the activities I
decide to include in my music video, some
people from the secondary audience will be
able to relate and get joy out of the ,music
video and song.
4. Interests
Once again, the secondary target audience for my music
video is anyone who isn’t in the Upper or Upper Middle class
and who isn’t ages 16-25. This shows us that the range of
people and their interests that they would have is very
large. Only a segment of the secondary target audience
would be able to relate to the music video as they may have
the same interest and what the characters in the music
videos have. This allows me to realise this and to try to add
in a range of different locations and for the characters to be
interested in different things to get the greatest response
from the music video and to get the most support.
Geodemographic
Repeatedly, the people in the secondary target audience
would be anyone who isn’t in the Upper or Upper Middle
class and who isn’t ages 16-25. You then have people
younger than 16 which would mean that they would live
with their family and siblings. Then for people older than
25, people could still be living with families, live on their
own or house share. These people could be able to pay their
bills every month in a nice house in a nice area or some of
these people could be on benefits. There is such a variation
of people and where they live and how they live.
5. This is Jennifer Holland, she is a 40year old woman who lives with her
wife and two daughters in Middlesbrough. She is an electrician.
Jennifer would be an example of my secondary audience as she is not
in the age bracket of being16-25years old and she is Middle class. She
enjoys reading and going out with her wife for date night. She said
‘When I’m working I love to have the radio on, especially love the
dance Pop music. Its so motivating!!’
This is John Francis he is 68 years old man and lives
on his own in a council house in Ilford. He said that
‘Disco music is probably my favourite genre of
dance music as it gives me nostalgia of the years
that my children were born. Also, my favourite
band is Chic.’ John has interest of going for walks
in the park and meeting his brother for lunch in the
café every Thursday.
