2. Estudió la primaria y secundaria en Trujillo. En esta ciudad
conoció a destacados intelectuales, como César Vallejo y
Antenor Orrego. En su juventud, se hizo militante del APRA,
partido de izquierda fundado por Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre.
