GOLFERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S
Trip Hobson, Midwestern State University, SR, Crockett, Texas, Crockett HS (Tyler JC)
Hobson carded three consistent and superb rounds to claim top individual honors at the Midwestern State Invitational.
The senior from Crockett posted red numbers in each round -- 69, 70, 70 -- to finish with a 4-under total of 209 to edge
Nicholas Tenuta of Regis by a single stroke. Hobson won by excelling at both the shorter and longer holes going 3-under
for the tournament on Par-3s and 4-under on the Par-5s. All told, the Crockett, Texas native amassed 11 birdies while
piling up 36 pars. Hobson has posted par-or-better scores in five of his eight rounds this season. Hobson became the
second Mustang to claim top individual honors at the MSU Invitational joining All-American Derek Oland, who won in
2013. He is the seventh MSU golfer to claim an individual tournament win joining Oland (10), Jared Baker (3), Santiago
Gomez (2), Chad Bryant (1), Mitch Molen (1) and Thomas Smith (1).
WOMEN’S
Emily Brennan, Midwestern State University, FR, Stoke-on-Trent, England, St. Thomas More Catholic Academy
Brennan set a pair of program records on the way to her first collegiate individual win at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate
played at the Fort Sill Golf Course. The Stoke-on-Trent, England native set the standard for low round to par firing a 5-
under 67 in the opening round and followed with a 1-under 71 to win the tournament by three strokes over Rogers
State's Jess Whitting. Brennan's 6-under, two-round total of 138 also stands as the program's 36-hole low round to par
mark. Behind Brennan's efforts, the Mustangs claimed their first team title since 2015-16 while setting another program
record for low 36-hole team total with a 1-over 577.

Angel Aguirre, West Texas A&M University, tied for 29th to lead the Buffs at the Midwestern State Invitational this
week. Aguirre fired rounds of 70,78,73 for a 221 score. The Buffs finished tied for seventh as a team in the 15 team
tournament.
Lucas McCubbin, Texas A&M University-Commerce, earned his second top-10 finish of the season, placing seventh
at 215 (73-70-72, +2) at the Midwestern State Invitational. In Tuesday's final round, he carded four birdies in a span of
five holes and finished one stroke over par. In his two rounds Monday, McCubbin shot scored of 73 and 70. He shot even
par on the back nine of his first round with a pair of birdies. He then had four birdies in his second round, finishing 1-
under par for the round. The Lions host The Classic at Firewheel on October 30-31 at Firewheel Golf Park in Garland. It
will be the Lions' final tournament of the fall season.
Gonzalo Pan De Soraluce, Western New Mexico, used a strong middle round to end up tying for 10th at the Herb
Wimberly Intercollegiate against a mostly Division I field. The sophomore from Madrid compiled rounds of 76-66-72 for
a 214, as he utilized 13 birdies and strong play on both par-four scoring (4.09) and par-five (4.67). WNMU as a team
placed 11th out of 12 teams with a 895.
Ueakarn "Loukyee" Songprasert, West Texas A&M University, paced the Lady Buffs at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate
as she tied for 13th with a 147 score on rounds of 75 and 72. The Lady Buffs finished sixth as a team with a 596 score on
rounds of 303 and 293. She has a 73.88 stroke average in eight rounds this season and is 13th in the region and 39th
nationally.
Sarah Gee, Tarleton State University, for the third straight tournament, led the TexAnns on the individual
leaderboard at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate with a third-place finish, carding a 2-under-par 70 on the final day and an
overall score of 143 (-1). The senior had five birdies and a team-best 27 pars in the two rounds. It's Gee's lowest 36-hole
score of the season. The TexAnns had their best finish of the fall season, coming in second place with a 584 (+8).

Midwestern State is rewriting its record books in the early stages of the 2017-18 season. The Mustangs have already
produced the two lowest rounds in program history with a 284 at the TexAnn Fall Classic before firing a 285 in the
opening round of the Oklahoma Intercollegiate... The Mustangs set a new team low 36-hole total with a 1-over 577 at
the Oklahoma Intercollegiate... MSU claimed its 11th overall team tournament win and first since claiming three titles in
2015-16... Freshman Emily Brennan matched program records for lowest round and lowest 36-hole total in claiming her
first collegiate victory. She is the fifth MSU women's golfer to win a tournament joining Brenna Moore (4), Sierra
Campbell (1) and Kendra Whittley (1)... Brennan posted her second and third par-or-better scores in seven tournament
rounds this season... Senior Sarah Moore notched her best finish of the season tying for 17th with a 4-over, two-round
total of 148... Freshman Juanita Gomez recorded her best finish as a collegian also tying for 17th with Moore...
3. Freshman Laura Sanchez logged her first collegiate Top 10 showing tying for eighth playing as an individual medalist
only. She carded rounds of 72 and 73 for a 1-over total of 145...
Midwestern State claimed its first team win since claiming victory at the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions Classic last spring. It
was the program's 13 overall team tournament title... The MSU Invitational All-Tournament team consisted of: MSU's
Trip Hobson and Clayton Keck, Regis' Nicholas Tenuta, Southeastern Oklahoma's Zach James and Texas A&M
International's Parker Holekamp... Senior Trip Hobson is the seventh MSU golfer to claim an individual tournament win

Hobson has posted par-or-better scores in five of his eight rounds this season... Keck has par-or-better scores in three of
his six tournament rounds this season including two in the 60s... Junior Clayton Meyers notched his second collegiate
Top 10 showing finishing seventh. He also carded his third career round in the 60s...
Tarleton State
Tarleton golf shot a 4-over-par on the final day to climb one spot and finish in second place in the Oklahoma
Intercollegiate at the Fort Sill Golf Course. The TexAnns shot a 292 (+4) in both rounds, carding a final score of 584 (+8).
It's the best score and finish of the fall season for the TexAnns. Midwestern State won the tournament with a 577 (+1).
For the third straight tournament, Sarah Gee led the TexAnns on the individual leaderboard with a third-place finish,
carding a 2-under-par 70 on the final day and an overall score of 143 (-1). The senior had five birdies and a team-best 27
pars in the two rounds. It's Gee's lowest 36-hole score of the season. Casey Leatherman had her best scorecard of the
season, as the sophomore tied for fourth with a score of 144 (E). Leatherman shot a 70 (-2) in round one and 74 (+4) on
Tuesday. Leatherman led the TexAnns with six birdies and also added 24 pars in the tournament. Casey Wild moved up
three spots on the leaderboard by shooting a 73 in both rounds to finish with a 146 (+6). Wild carded five birdies and 24
pars. Junie Khaw improved her first-round score by a stroke and placed tied for 29th with a 151 (+7). Khaw had 24 pars
in the tournament. Breanna Smith finished in 55th with a score of 162 (+18). The TexAnns will close out their fall
schedule next week in the Flagler Fall Slam in St. Augustine, Florida on Oct. 23-24.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lion men's golf team finished second at the Midwestern State Invitational earlier this week, finishing with a team
score of 861 (+9). Three Lions finished in the top 20. The Lions have finished in the top four of all three tournaments
they have played this fall, including finishing first in the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate and runner-up this week. The fall
portion of the season concludes in two weeks when A&M-Commerce hosts The Classic at Firewheel on October 30-31 at
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland.
The Lion women had the week off as they prepare for their final tournament of the fall season. They will return to action
on Monday in Hot Springs, Ark. at the Henderson State/GIC Invitational at the Hot Springs Country Club, Park Course.

The West Texas A&M women's golf team finished sixth at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate this week with a 596 score on
rounds of 303 and 293...Sophomore Loukyee Songprasert paced the team as she tied for 13th with a 147 score on
rounds of 75 and 72...The Lady Buffs are 13th nationally according to Golfstat and Songprasert is 13th in the region and
37th nationally...The Lady Buffs concluded their fall season and will resume play in February...
4. The men's team tied for seventh at the Midwestern State Invitational this week with an 881 score on rounds of
296,289,296...Senior Angelo Aguirre paced the team tying for 29th with a 221 score on rounds of 70,78,73...WT finishes
the fall season this coming week at the Territory Classic in Duncan, Okla., hosted by Cameron at The Territory Golf Club.
