LONE STAR CONFERENCE SOFTBALL WEEKLY RELEASE

LSC SOFTBALL
Angelo State and Texas A&M-Commerce are tied atop the Lone Star Conference standings at 20-4 in league games, with
West Texas A&M just behind them at 17-4.
This week’s schedule includes non-conference contests with a full slate of LSC series.
LSC teams are playing a single round-robin schedule with a three-game series against each league opponent. The
overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular-season conference games, while
the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion and receive the league’s
automatic qualification into NCAA postseason. The single-elimination championship featuring the top six teams will be
played May 4-5, at the No. 1 seed.
LSC softball teams are 270-195 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the group is currently 50-16
combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 24-15 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Ashley Hardin, West Texas A&M University, SR, Outfielder, Flower Mound, Texas, Marcus
Hardin continued to prove why she's one of the most feared hitters in all of NCAA Division II this past weekend as the
senior led the No. 13 Lady Buffs to a sweep of the Cameron Aggies at Schaeffer Park in Canyon. The Flower Mound
product hit .500 on the weekend with four long balls to drive in seven RBI with 16 total bases for an incredible slugging
percentage of 2.000 while walking four times including three intentional passes for an on-base clip of .667 against the
fourth best team ERA in the LSC. Hardin became the all-time Lone Star Conference career leader in RBI on Sunday
afternoon with a two-run homerun in the fifth inning to pass former teammate and two-time National Player of the Year
Renee Erwin (244). The senior connected on four home runs during the series including three on Sunday afternoon as
she now sits at 76 career long balls, which is fourth most in NCAA Division II history with eight games remaining in the
regular season.
PITCHER
Brandy Marlett, Angelo State University, SR, P, Henderson, Nevada, Rancho
Marlett went 2-0 with a no-hitter and a complete game one-hitter as she helped the Rambelles go 5-0 against UTPB and
Texas A&M-International. Her fifth career no-hitter came against UTPB and she faced only two over the minimum in a
five-inning run-rule victory. The senior struck out a season high 12 batters in the win. Marlett followed it up with a one-
hit shutout of Texas A&M International, striking out three batters in the win. She held opponents to a .030 batting
average and had only one walk in 11.0 innings.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Kinsie Hebler, Texas A&M University-Commerce, had an offensive explosion last week in three games against
Western New Mexico. She hit .786 with 11 hits, five home runs, a grand slam and 19 RBIs. She had two three-run home
runs and an RBI single in the first game against WNMU. She then had two two-run homers and two RBI singles in the
second game. In the final game of the series, she hit a grand slam and had two more RBI singles. Ten of her 11 hits
scored runs. Hebler is third in the LSC in batting average, third in RBIs, fifth in slugging and fifth in on-base percentage.
Taylor Fogle, Angelo State University, provided the RBIs and power as the Rambelles went 5-0 against UTPB and
Texas A&M International. The junior had a team-high four home runs and 12 RBIs in 15 plate appearances. The four
home runs came in back-to-back games against Texas A&M International and she tallied a career high six RBIs in the
game one win. She averaged .600 at the plate and totaled nine hits. The California native scored eight times and had the
highest slugging percentage at a 1.400 clip. Fogle also drew a walk and had a .625 on base percentage.
Maddie Quintanar, Tarleton State University, hit .600 with a run scored, a RBI, and two stolen bases in last Tuesday's
road doubleheader at Texas A&M International.
Tucker Caraway, Midwestern State University, led the MSU offense to a series-win against Texas Woman's on the
road this weekend, winning two-of-three in Denton. The outfielder hit .500 with two RBI and three runs scored while
adding a double and a triple, her third three-bagger of the season.
Elena Garcia, Eastern New Mexico University, bashed three homeruns and drove in seven runs last week for the
Eastern New Mexico University softball team. In Friday's opener against Texas A&M-Kingsville, she batted 4-for-6 with
two homers, five RBIs and an intentional walk. The performance paced the Hounds to their first win in the series since
2014. The freshman infielder is currently on a five-game hit streak.
Megan Rosewell, Tarleton State University, tossed her fourth complete-game shutout of the year last Tuesday as the
senior right-hander tossed seven scoreless innings on the road against Texas A&M International. In her seven innings of
work, she allowed just five hits and a walk while striking out five.
Abbie Lancaster, Midwestern State University, earned both of MSU's wins against Texas Woman's this weekend in
complete-game efforts, going 2-0 with a 1.75 ERA. In the series-opener, the Idabell, Okla., native allowed one earned run
on nine hits with no walks and five strikeouts, needing just 86 pitches to retire the Pioneers. Taking the ball in the series-
finale, Lancaster scattered two earned runs on five hits with a season-high six strikeouts on 125 pitches.
Lacie Bullard, Texas A&M University-Commerce, got her first extended action of the season and pitched well against
Western New Mexico. She picked up two wins in two starts, holding hitters to a .258 average. She had six strikeouts. She
pitched three innings in the Lions' second win against WNMU, striking out one and giving up only one run. She then
pitched five innings in the Lions' third win against WNMU, striking out five batters.
Kiana Zerr, Eastern New Mexico University, made her final two home appearances at Greyhound Softball Field last
weekend. In the series opener against Texas A&M-Kingsville, she allowed just two runs over the final six innings of the
11-inning game. Zerr scattered six hits, fanned five batters and walked none to earn the win.

Eastern New Mexico
Last week, the Eastern New Mexico softball team exploded to a 12-11 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in the opening
game of a Lone Star Conference series. Elena Garcia batted 4-for-6, homered twice, had a walk-off single in the 11th
inning and drove in five runs. Kiana Zerr earned the win with a six-inning effort to snap ENMU's 12-game skid in the
series. Jennifer McElroy also had a grand slam in the game. The Javelinas bounced back to sweep Saturday's
doubleheader. The Hounds honored their six outstanding seniors to close out the season's home schedule.
Midwestern State
2-1 last week.
Tarleton State
Tarleton split a road doubleheader at Texas A&M International last Tuesday. The TexAnns will be back at home Tuesday
against St. Edward's.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The No. 7 Lions went 3-0 against Western New Mexico last week, scoring 58 runs against just 10 runs given up. A&M-
Commerce is tied for the conference lead with just two series remaining in the regular season. They host Angelo State
this week in a three-game series starting Friday.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
2-1 last week.
Texas Woman’s
1-2 last week.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin was swept this weekend by Angelo State. UTPB's bats went cold as they were held to seven hits over
the weekend. Aubree Avila led the Falcons with two hits. Jessica Gonzales had two stolen bases including a steal of
home.
West Texas A&M
The No. 13 Lady Buffs continued to roll this past weekend as they swept past the visiting Cameron Aggies during Military
Appreciation Weekend at Schaeffer Park to move to 34-6 overall with a 17-4 mark in Lone Star Conference play. WT hit
.317 as a team this past weekend with five doubles and five homeruns to drive in 18 RBI with 46 total bases for a team
slugging percentage of .561. The Lady Buffs hit the road this weekend for their final road trip of the regular season as
they take on the Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville in a three-game Lone Star Conference series starting on Friday night
at 6 p.m. at Hubert Field.

She hit .786 with 11 hits, five home runs, a grand slam and 19 RBIs. She had two three-run home runs and an RBI single in the first game against WNMU. She then had two two-run homers and two RBI singles in the second game. In the final game of the series, she hit a grand slam and had two more RBI singles. Ten of her 11 hits scored runs. Hebler is third in the LSC in batting average, third in RBIs, fifth in slugging and fifth in on-base percentage. Taylor Fogle, Angelo State University, provided the RBIs and power as the Rambelles went 5-0 against UTPB and Texas A&M International. The junior had a team-high four home runs and 12 RBIs in 15 plate appearances. The four home runs came in back-to-back games against Texas A&M International and she tallied a career high six RBIs in the game one win. She averaged .600 at the plate and totaled nine hits. The California native scored eight times and had the highest slugging percentage at a 1.400 clip. Fogle also drew a walk and had a .625 on base percentage. Maddie Quintanar, Tarleton State University, hit .600 with a run scored, a RBI, and two stolen bases in last Tuesday's road doubleheader at Texas A&M International.
  • 3. Tucker Caraway, Midwestern State University, led the MSU offense to a series-win against Texas Woman's on the road this weekend, winning two-of-three in Denton. The outfielder hit .500 with two RBI and three runs scored while adding a double and a triple, her third three-bagger of the season. Elena Garcia, Eastern New Mexico University, bashed three homeruns and drove in seven runs last week for the Eastern New Mexico University softball team. In Friday's opener against Texas A&M-Kingsville, she batted 4-for-6 with two homers, five RBIs and an intentional walk. The performance paced the Hounds to their first win in the series since 2014. The freshman infielder is currently on a five-game hit streak. Megan Rosewell, Tarleton State University, tossed her fourth complete-game shutout of the year last Tuesday as the senior right-hander tossed seven scoreless innings on the road against Texas A&M International. In her seven innings of work, she allowed just five hits and a walk while striking out five. Abbie Lancaster, Midwestern State University, earned both of MSU's wins against Texas Woman's this weekend in complete-game efforts, going 2-0 with a 1.75 ERA. In the series-opener, the Idabell, Okla., native allowed one earned run on nine hits with no walks and five strikeouts, needing just 86 pitches to retire the Pioneers. Taking the ball in the series- finale, Lancaster scattered two earned runs on five hits with a season-high six strikeouts on 125 pitches. Lacie Bullard, Texas A&M University-Commerce, got her first extended action of the season and pitched well against Western New Mexico. She picked up two wins in two starts, holding hitters to a .258 average. She had six strikeouts. She pitched three innings in the Lions' second win against WNMU, striking out one and giving up only one run. She then pitched five innings in the Lions' third win against WNMU, striking out five batters. Kiana Zerr, Eastern New Mexico University, made her final two home appearances at Greyhound Softball Field last weekend. In the series opener against Texas A&M-Kingsville, she allowed just two runs over the final six innings of the 11-inning game.
