1. LSC MEN’S BASKETBALL
Tarleton State holds a one-game lead in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 9-2 league record. UT
Permian Basin is a game back at 8-3.
LSC play continues this week with four league games on Thursday and five Saturday.
The LSC men have a 128-75 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 21-6 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 14-4 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Chantz Chambers, Tarleton State University, SR, Guard, Shreveport, Louisiana, Hunington HS
Chambers averaged 21 points per game while guiding No. 14 Tarleton to a pair of road wins over Cameron and
Midwestern State. The senior poured in a career-high 26 points on 8-12 shooting against Cameron, including
16 in the first half to help build an 11-point lead at the break. In the second half, Chambers went 8-10 at the
free-throw line down the stretch to help clinch the win. He followed that performance with 16 points in a road
win against Midwestern State. Chambers provided a second-half spark with 13 points in the final 20 minutes to
help the Texans come back from a 7-point halftime deficit. His 3-pointer with 9:25 left gave Tarleton its first lead
of the game and the Texans never trailed again. For the week, Chambers averaged 21 points, three rebounds,
two assists and shot 57 percent from the floor and 45 percent on 3-pointers.
DEFENSIVE
Dorian Armstrong, Texas A&M University-Commerce, JR, Forward, Detroit, Mich., Mt. Clemens HS
Armstrong was all over the defensive end for the Lions in their two games last week with five blocks and 14
rebounds per game. He was a force for A&M-Commerce in their win against Cameron on Saturday with three
blocks and 19 rebounds including 15 defensive rebounds. Armstrong is sixth in the LSC in rebounding and is
second in block average.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Malik Albert, Texas A&M University-Commerce, was a steady contributor for the Lions in both of their games
last week. He scored 16 points against Midwestern State and 19 points in a winning effort against Cameron.
He shot 46 percent from the field and 44 percent from behind the arc. He also got his teammates involved,
averaging three assists per game. Albert is third in the LSC in scoring with 18.6 per game. He is also third in field
goal percentage.He also leads the conference in steals and he nabbed four last week.
Willie McCray, Western New Mexico, paced the team in scoring with 33 points overall, as he made 41
percent from the field, seven assists and three steals. He scored in double-digits in both games, going for a high
of 22 against West Texas A&M. In that game, he went 12-13 from the foul line. Against UT Permian Basin he
added 11 points, along with four assists and made 44 percent from the field.
Josh Morris, UT Permian Basin, helped the Falcons to a 2-0 week with road wins over Western New Mexico
and Eastern New Mexico. Morris led the Falcons with 17 points on 5-6 shooting from the field in the 92-69 win
over Western New Mexico. He came back two days later to shoot 6-7 from the field with 15 points in an 85-67
win over Eastern New Mexico. He ranks fourth on the Falcons for the season, averaging 11 ppg on 75 percent
shooting for the season.
Joe Clarke, Eastern New Mexico University, was instrumental in the Greyhounds upset of 20th-ranked West
Texas A&M, contributing 16 points and three steals in the ‘Hounds first win over a ranked opponent in the last
18 years. The junior led Eastern in scoring this past week, helping the Green and Silver to a 1-1 record.
Eric Golightly Jr., West Texas A&M University, had a big weekend for the No. 20 Buffs as they went 1-1 on
a road trip thru the Land of Enchancment to move to 19-5 (7-4 LSC) overall. The senior guard went 10-of-19
(52.6%) from the floor including 6-of-10 (60%) from lone range and 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the charity stripe to go
along with five rebounds, five assists and three steals to average 15.5 points per game over the weekend. The
Chickasha, Oklahoma native scored a season high and tied a career high with 19 points on Thursday night in a
loss at Eastern New Mexico as he went 6-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-4 from deep.
Sammy Allen, UT Permian Basin, was once again a dominant force down low for the Falcons. He grabbed a
season-high 20 rebounds in the team’s 92-69 win over Western New Mexico. He came back with 12 rebounds
two days later in just 21 minutes as the Falcons grabbed an 85-67 win at Eastern New Mexico. He is now
averaging 11 rebounds per game on the season and leads all Lone Star Conference players with 11.7 rpg in
conference action
Romond Jenkins, Tarleton State University, averaged 15 points on 63 percent shooting and 9.5 rebounds as
No. 14 Tarleton swept both of its road games at Cameron and Midwestern State. Jenkins’ best performance
came in one of the toughest places to play in the Lone Star Conference at MSU’s D.L Ligon Coliseum where the
senior grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to go with 21 points and three blocks. Jenkins had a double-double at
halftime with 12 points and 10 rebounds and kept rolling in the second half as Midwestern State had no answer
for his low post scoring abilities. Jenkins helped the Texans out-rebound MSU 42-29 and held the Mustangs’ big
man, Igor Ibaka, to only six points on the night. It was Jenkins’ 11th double-double of the season as Tarleton
improved to 11-0 in those games.
Latrell Spivey, Western New Mexico, powered the defense with 17 rebounds, 14 coming on the defensive
end, along with three blocks and two steals. He also added 15 points and shot 40 percent from the field. He

nearly went for double-doubles in both games, as he
scored seven and grabbed nine rebounds against UT
Permian Basin and then tallied eight points and eight
rebounds against West Texas A&M. He swatted two
blocks versus UT Permian Basin.
Ryan Quaid, West Texas A&M University, continued
to put together a great sophomore campaign for the
No. 20 Buffs this past weekend as WT moved to 19-5
overall with a 7-4 mark in LSC play to sit in a tie for
third place in the league standings. The Fort Collins
native went 10-of-15 (66.7%) from the floor including
4-of-4 (100%) from the free throw line with 15 total
rebounds (three offensive, 12 defensive), three
assists, two blocks and one steal in the two road
contests to average 12.0 points per game and 7.5
rebounds. The sophomore went 4-of-7 from the floor
and 2-of-2 from the stripe on Thursday night to score
10 points while grabbing 10 rebounds (two offensive,
eight defensive) for a double-double.
Byrale Carter, Eastern New Mexico University,
much of what he did this past week went beyond
the box score. In the Greyhounds win over 20tn-
ranked WT, Carter limited the Buffs top scoring
threats, including preseason LSC Player of the Year
David Chavlovich and Jordan Evams to a combined 12
points and a .313 shooting percentage. The Killeen,
Texas native had a career high 12 points in the win
and surpassed double digits again on Saturday. On
Thursday, the freshman knocked down 3-4 free
throws to help put the game on ice and secure the
win.

Angelo State
The Angelo State Rams dropped both of its games
this week and fell to 12-6 overall and 4-6 in the
conference. Quay King headed the Rams offense as
he continued his streak of games scoring double-
figure points in every game this season. Thomas
Tshikaya also continued to lead the defense with
a team leading 18 total boards for the week. The
Rams will host Cameron on Thursday, February 2 at
7:30 p.m. and then Midwestern State on Saturday,
February 4 at 4 p.m.

Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team went
1-1 last week, earning the team’s second victory in
LSC play under head coach Tres Segler in the 96-83
upset of 20th-ranked West Texas A&M. It was the
first victory over a ranked opponent by the ‘Hounds
in the last 18 years. The Green and Silver travel to
Stephenville and Commerce this week for a tough
road test against Tarleton and Texas A&M-Commerce
on Thursday and Saturday.

Tarleton State
No. 14 Tarleton swept both of its games for the week
at Cameron and Midwestern State to improve to 18-3
overall and stayed atop the LSC standings at 9-2. The
Texans have won three straight games and swept the
season series against both teams. Chantz Chambers
led the team in scoring this week at 21 points per
game, including a career-high 26 points at Cameron.
Romond Jenkins had 21 points and 17 rebounds at
Midwestern State. The Texans will begin a four-game
homestand starting Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
against Eastern New Mexico.
LSC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
MARCH 2-3-4-5 | ALLEN, TEXAS
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions split their games last week. They lost
to Midwestern State before rallying back against
Cameron. The Lions are 7-4 in conference play and
are in third in the standings. The Lions return home
for five consecutive home games, starting against
Western New Mexico on Thursday and Eastern New
Mexico on Saturday.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
2-0 last week.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin sits in sole possession of second
place in the Lone Star Conference with another 2-0
week, picking up wins at Western New Mexico and
Eastern New Mexico. Five Falcons scored in double
figures in the 92-69 triumph against WNMU, while
James McPherson and Daeshon Francis each scored
22 points in the 85-67 win at ENMU with McPherson
hitting six 3-pointers on the night.
West Texas A&M
The No. 20 Buffs went 1-1 during a road trip thru
the Land of Enchantment this past weekend with a
Thursday night loss at Eastern New Mexico before
rebounding with a Saturday afternoon win over
Western New Mexico to move to 19-5 with a 7-4
mark in LSC play to sit tied for third in the league
standings. The Buffs conclude their five-game road
trip on Saturday afternoon as they head to Odessa,
Texas to take on the Falcons of UT Permian Basin with
tipoff set for 4 p.m. at the Falcon Dome.
Western New Mexico
WNMU had strong performances by Willie McCray,
Jordan Enriquez and Eddie Giron as the trio averaged
in double-figures. Latrell Spivey and Emery Range
did well on the defensive end leading the way in
rebounding. McCray paced the team in scoring with
33 points, as he made 41 percent from the field,
seven assists and three steals. He scored in double-
digits in both games, going for a high of 22 against
West Texas A&M. In that game, he went 12-13 from
the foul line. Against UT Permian Basin he added 11
points, along with four assists and made 44 percent
from the field. Spivey powered the defense with 17
rebounds, 14 coming on the defensive end, along
with three blocks and two steals. He also added
