MSU, A&M-C SELECTED FOR NCAA DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD
Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce were selected to represent the Lone Star Conference in the 2015
NCAA Division II Football Championship. The Mustangs earned the No. 1 seed in Super Region Four, while the
Lions are the seventh seed.
MSU received a first-round bye as the top seed and makes its sixth NCAA postseason appearance and first
since 2012. The Mustangs also earned the top seed after rolling to a 10-0 mark in 2011.
A&M-C will make its first appearance in the NCAA Playoffs since the 1995 season.
The Mustangs face the winner of the No. 4/5 game as Indianapolis travels to meet Colorado State-Pueblo
Nov. 14 in Pueblo. The second round game is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 28 at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.
The Lions play at Ferris State in the first round Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. (CT).

Football Playoffs Championship.
Angelo State topped Eastern New Mexico 63-20 in the third place game, and West Texas A&M prevailed over
Texas A&M-Kingsville in the fifth-place contest.
LSC FOOTBALL
LSC football teams are 42-33 overall this season. The squads are 9-1 combined versus the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference
teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.

OFFENSIVE
Kyle Washington, Angelo State University, SR, QB, Humble, Texas, Humble HS
Washington ended his ASU career with a bang as the senior quarterback accounted for 457 yards of total
offense, four passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown in a 63-20 blowout
win over Eastern New Mexico. Washington recorded his second career game with at least 400 yards passing
with 403 yards on 23-of-40 passing. He rushed for 51 yards and two scores and caught his first career pass. The
Humble native caught a three-yard touchdown pass, the first receiving touchdown of his career, from Jacob
Burtch in the second quarter. Washington leads the nation in total offense with 411.1 yards per game.
DEFENSIVE
Harold Wills, Midwestern State University, SR, DE, Gainesville, Texas, Gainesville HS
Wills intercepted a swing pass and returned it four yards for a touchdown with 6:14 to play Saturday to lift
Midwestern State to a 37-33 win over Texas A&M-Commerce in the Lone Star Conference Playoff Championship
Game. The senior from Gainesville finished the game with four tackles including two for loss, a sack and an
interception. The Mustangs forced a team that had committed nine turnovers all season into three miscues in
the final quarter while holding the Lions to more than 100 yards under their season average output.

Herb Whitehurst, Midwestern State University, SR, Coverage, Modesto, Calif., Enochs HS (Modesto HS)
Whitehurst came through cleanly to block a Chase Thrasher’s punt and returned it for a touchdown with 8:06
to play in the first half as Midwestern State scored a 37-33 win over Texas A&M-Commerce in the Lone Star
Conference Playoff Championship Saturday night. The senior from Modesto came around right end made the
block, scooped it up and scored to give the Mustangs a 17-10 lead. It was the Mustangs’ sixth punt block of
the season as MSU scored a defensive and special teams touchdown in the same game for the second time
this season.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Derrick Macon, Texas A&M University - Commerce, caught seven passes for 134 yards and three scores in the
Lions 37-33 loss to the Midwestern State in the LSC Playoff Championship game. Macon’s three scores came
in the second and third quarters to give the Lions a 30-17 lead. He caught scores of 20 yards, 28 yards and 46
yards.
Le’Nard Meyers, Tarleton State University, two touchdown receptions in the game gave the senior wide
receiver the most touchdown receptions in Tarleton football history with 27. Meyers finished the season with
75 receptions, 1,034 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Greg Pitre, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, followed up back-to-back season-high performances with
yet another career best performance, this time rushing for 234 yards on 27 carries and adding two receiving
touchdowns in the season finale at West Texas A&M... Pitre carried the ball 27 times and became the first
Javelina to rush for over 200 yards since November 2011... his two receiving TD’s tied his season and career-
highs.
Geremy Alridge-Mitchell, West Texas A&M University, finished his career with a great game as he rushed
32 times for 216 yards and three rushing touchdowns, while catching six balls for 53 yards. Alridge-Mitchell
finishes his career playing in 50 games with 22 starts, while carrying the ball 644 carries for 3,381 yards

rushing finishing fifth all-time in rushing just seven
yards behind Eugene “Mercury” Morris (1966-68)
for fourth and 47 rushing touchdowns. He finished
with 77 receptions for 549 yards and three receiving
touchdowns. His 308 points ranks him third all-time,
while he finished with 51 total touchdowns ranking
second all-time behind DeWayne Miles’ 55 (1997-
00). Alridge-Mitchell finished the season with 1,296
yards on 260 carries with 16 rushing touchdowns.
His 1,296 yards ranks sixth all-time in school-history
for a season behind his 1,342 yards from 2014. He
finished the season with 1,772 all-purpose yards and
4,878 all-purpose yards for his career.
Justin Jackson, Angelo State University, led a Rams
defense that held ENMU to just 394 yards of total
offense. The freshman safety recorded a career high
14 tackles with 11 being solo in the win. Jackson also
had 1.0 tackles for loss. ASU held ENMU to just 76
yards of total offense in the first half.
Tyree Barton, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
was a force the Lions up front collecting nine total
tackles including six solo stops. He also accounted for
two tackles for loss while the Lions limited MSU to
only 4.8 yards per play.
Iosia Iosia, West Texas A&M University, tallied
three tackles for loss for 16 yards and 1.5 sacks for
11 yards in the Buffs’ 51-45 victory over Texas A&M-
Kingsville Saturday. Iosia had seven tackles with two
solo stops and was all over the field disrupting the
Javelinas. He finished the season with a team-high
11.5 tackles for loss for 64 yards and a team-high 6.5
sacks for 45 yards. He finished with 43 total tackles
with 19 solo stops.
Charles Stevens, Eastern New Mexico University,
thwarted a pair of Angelo State drives with the first
two interceptions of his career. The first came late in
the second quarter, with the Rams facing a first and
10 at their own 38-yard line. The second interception
came in Eastern’s end zone, late in the fourth quarter.
ChaseThrasher,TexasA&MUniversity-Commerce,
limited the Mustangs to poor field position all game.
He averaged 43.6 yards per punt with two of his five
punts inside the 20.
Tim Callian, Eastern New Mexico University, on
Saturday, two of his eight punts were downed inside
theAngeloState20-yardline.Oneofhispuntsallowed
the Greyhound coverage unit to get into position to
recover a muffed punt, to set up ENMU’s first score
of the game. Callian also had two touchbacks on four
kickoffs.
Felipe Parra, West Texas A&M University, had four
punts for a 43.2 average with a long of 58 in the win
over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday. For the season,
Parra has been great as he punted 56 times for 2,413
yards and a 43.1 average. He finished with a long
of 76, along with five touchbacks, 12 fair catches,
18 inside the 20 and 13 over 50 yards. Prior to this
season, Parra had never had a collegiate punt.

The Eastern New Mexico University football team
scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter
and rushed for 209 yards in the second half, but could
not overcome an explosive start from Angelo State.
The rams came to Blackwater Draw as the nation’s top
offensive team, raced to a 56-7 lead and held on to
defeat the Greyhounds 63-20, in Saturday’s Lone Star
Conference playoff game. The Hounds accomplished
a number of things during the game. Kamal Cass
scored his 20th rushing touchdown of the year, late
in the first quarter, to set a new ENMU single-season
record. The touchdown run also tied the Hounds
for the single-season scoring record. Eastern’s 13
points in the fourth quarter set the new mark at 450,
shattering last season’s mark of 437. The Hounds also
have set single season team records for touchdowns
(63), PAT kicks made and attempted (58-60), rushing
yards (3,896), rushing touchdowns (48), and rushing
years per game (354.2). Angelo State set the tone over
the game’s first seven minutes and took a 14-0 lead
on five-yard touchdown runs from Ryan Byrd and Kyle
Washington. After the rams forced a three-and-out,
Brett Rasberry mishandled a Timothy Callian punt,
and Brad Hardin recovered for the Hounds at the
ASU 26-yard line. Jeremy Buurma hit a 21-yard pass
to Adrian Horton and Cass followed with a five-yard
touchdown run to cut the deficit in half. The Rams
responded with 42 straight points, as Washington
finished the game with four passing touchdowns, two
rushing touchdowns, and a receiving touchdowns. In
the fourth quarter, Chivasiaiay Callagher registered
his first score of the season on a three-yard pass
from Buurma, while Russell Montoya caught his first
touchdown pass from Ryan Greene. Kamal Cass and
Vaughn Johnson both topped 60 yards rushing in the
game. Defensively, Charles Stevens came up with his
first two interceptions of the season, while Kolter
West made eight tackles.

The Mustangs are making their sixth NCAA Division II
playoff appearance and first since 2012... MSU earns
the No. 1 for a second time after receiving the honor
with a perfect 10-0 season in 2011... The Mustangs
matched a school record with 10 wins also achieving
the feat in 1949, 2006 and 2011... Midwestern
scored touchdowns on special teams and defense
for the second time this season against Texas A&M-
Commerce... The Mustangs have scored either a
special teams or defensive touchdown in each of
their last three games and in six games this season...
Senior Herb Whitehurst blocked a punt in the second
quarter and returned in for a touchdown to give the
Mustangs a 17-10 lead. It was the Mustangs’ sixth
blocked punt of the season and second TD scored
off of a block... Senior defensive end Harold Wills
returned an interception four yards for a touchdown
with 6:14 to play allowing MSU to overcome a 9-point
deficit with 9:52 remaining in the fourth quarter...
The MSU defense forced three turnovers in the final
quarter against an A&M-Commerce which had just
nine giveaways all year including a fumble recovery
by Marqui Christian and interceptions by Harold
Wills and Tari Jones... The Mustangs did not commit
a turnover after having six giveaways against Texas
A&M-Commerce in the first meeting last season...
Tarleton State
Tarleton closed out the 2015 season with a come-
from-behind 48-47 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle
State on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
The Texans (3-7) scored all 48 points in the second
half after trailing 17-0 at halftime. Tarleton finished
with 434 yards of offense in the win.

With his 76 yards, Richard Cooper saw his DII 100-
yard rushing streak come to and end. He has rushed
for over 100-yards in nine of the team’s 11 games.
With a looming NCAA Playoff berth, Cooper could
match the school record of 10, 100-yard rushing
games held by Audria Thompson during the 1975
season... Cooper has rushed for 1,253 yards, which
is seventh on the Lions single-season rushing yards
lists behind Ricky Dirks who ran for 1,299 yards
in 1983. Ironically, Cooper has rushed for more
yards than any Lion since Dirks’ 1,299 total... Theo
Wofford brought his 2015 rushing yard total up to
979 yards on 143 carries. He needs just 21 yards to
give the Lions their first 1,000 rushing duo in program
history... The Lions, for the second straight season
have fallen in the LSC Playoffs’ Championship game
after scoring 33 points. In 2014, the Lions fell to No. 2
seed Angelo State 35-33... The Lions made the NCAA
Playoffs for the first time in 20 years, 1995, and for
the fourth time in program history -- 1990, 1991 and
1995 -- after earning the No. 7 seed in Super Region
4... A&M-Commerce will travel to No. 2 seed Ferris
State on Saturday, November 21 with kickoff set for
11 a.m. central time... The Lions are 3-3 all-time in
the NCAA playoffs... Counting NAIA Playoffs the
Lions are making their sixth playoff appearance after
making the NAIA Playoffs in 1972 and 1980... A&M-
Commerce is making its 11 postseason trip adding
to NCAA Playoffs and NAIA Playoffs the Lions have
appeared in four Tangerine Bowls -- 1953, 1954, 1958
and 1959 -- and two NCAA Division II Bowls -- the Live
