What are some things you already know about King Arthur?
There is debate on whether King Arthur was a real person, or just a legendary figure. Let's take a look at some information and see if we can figure this out...

King Arthur…The Legend
What is a legend? A legend is a written or spoken narrative that could realistically have happened.  They may include miracles that are believed to have happened according to a certain set of beliefs people may have.
According to the Legend of King Arthur...   ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
  Legend ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
Arthur as King  -Married Guinevere (who supposedly cheated on him with Lancelot) -Arthur's knights sat at a round table so none of them would feel higher privileged -Defended England against Saxon invaders -Defeated a Roman emperor and became emperor himself -Lead crusades in search of the Holy Grail -Legend has it...he NEVER died
Whether or not King Arthur really existed is hard to say, but the stories that are told of him have made a strong impact on much of the literature of the Middle ages, as well as the literature that we read today.

King Arthur

  • 1. What are some things you already know about King Arthur?
  • 2. There is debate on whether King Arthur was a real person, or just a legendary figure. Let's take a look at some information and see if we can figure this out...

  • 5. What is a legend? A legend is a written or spoken narrative that could realistically have happened.  They may include miracles that are believed to have happened according to a certain set of beliefs people may have.

Arthur as King  -Married Guinevere (who supposedly cheated on him with Lancelot) -Arthur's knights sat at a round table so none of them would feel higher privileged -Defended England against Saxon invaders -Defeated a Roman emperor and became emperor himself -Lead crusades in search of the Holy Grail -Legend has it...he NEVER died
  • 9. Whether or not King Arthur really existed is hard to say, but the stories that are told of him have made a strong impact on much of the literature of the Middle ages, as well as the literature that we read today.
