- The life of a Microsoft 365 consultant is like drinking from a firehose – lots of new updates happening all the time; product changes, new features, new approaches, different opinions – it never stops.
- While there are many more than just these 5, the ones listed are a good place to start for any admin or person responsible for M365 success. Ask the audience who uses all of them on a regular basis – if anyone puts their hand up; joke that they can skip the rest of the session.
- Many customers don’t know of the M365 reporting available. It makes it hard to know where success can be found in the organisation, but also creates a challenge when bold statements like “we have high usage of Microsoft Teams” are used. Some may have used the O365 reports, some may have previously used the Office 365 Adoption Content Pack.
- Ask the audience who has the M365 usage analytics enabled.
- Demo slide next will show how simple it is to enable the M365 Usage Analytics service.
- Demo slide next shows how to grant someone outside of IT the “report reader” role; so a non-technical person (ie. a change manager) can access the usage analytics.
- Ask the room who goes into the Message Center regularly. IT admins don’t often go into the O365 Message Center, so aren’t aware of updates; often finding out from their users first. Demo slide next shows how to find the Message Center, but also how to set up the weekly email summary and notifications to go to a non-admin, or a distribution group, or a Yammer group, or a Teams channel.
- Ask the room who has heard of and uses Secure Score. Customers often think they are more secure than they actually are. Secure Score shows a simplified roundup of how secure the M365 environment is and lists any action items. Demo slide next shows how to navigate the Secure Score, as well as how easy it is to action some of the items.
- Ask the room who regularly access the Security & Compliance portal(s). IT pros often work in the dark when it comes to security; they lock down features and hope for the best. Or they don’t know what they don’t know in terms of M365 security features, and especially what users are doing. Demo slide next takes the audience through a quick navigation of the Security & Compliance portal. Slide transitions between current portal to preview of new, separate portal for Security and separate portal for Compliance.
- Ask audience who has used Teams admin functions via PowerShell Call out that Skype for Business Online admin was relatively simple; a handful of features that were on or off Teams admin is considerably more complex; new features show up regularly both for users and admins Demo slide next shows users around Teams admin interface; call out that IT admins can now manage Teams they are not owners off. Mention that many settings have different policies that can be applied for various things such as messaging, meetings, upgrade, calling, etc.
