2. For the title of my local newspaper I wanted
something which was simple and recognizable
for people to understand which I was chose
‘Salford News’. I have chosen to target my
newspaper at people who live in the Salford
area. In my opinion the title of the newspaper
is very conventional to traditional newspaper
as it is simply the area targeted for the
newspaper and the word news which has
been done many times by established
newspapers.
3. When conducting my market research through the use
of online questionnaire’s I gathered that people wanted
the context of the newspaper to be a tabloid newspaper
filled with photographs and stories relevant to their area.
• Additionally, many of the people who answered my
questionnaire wanted free prizes to be included and elite
person to be featured into the magazine as well. By
following these requirements I included traditional
features of a tabloid newspaper into my own so that I
could attract my own target audience.
4. When designing my newspaper and constructing the layout of the
pages I kept traditional to other tabloid newspapers through the use
of positioning of the text, masthead at the top of the page so it was
the first thing the audience looked at through the use of the
Guttenberg principal. Furthermore, I put my images in the middle of
the pages so that it was eye catching to the audience and kept their
attention, when conducting my market research I understood that
images were an important part of a successful newspaper.
Typical tabloid newspaper The Sun which
places the masthead at the top of the page
and the images in the middle of the page so
that they grab the readers attention.
5. When creating my newspaper I kept the house style
consistent throughout, through the use of colour
schemes and font styles so that the newspaper would
be recognizable for its use of colours and fonts.
Many newspapers today have a clear consistency
when it comes to their house style so that it remains
recognizable to their target audience which is an
approach I adopted to my own newspaper so that the
target audience knows the newspaper is Salford News
and so that the paper comes across professional and
well structured.
6. For my main story for the newspaper I had to go out and take
my own photographs so that the story would appear entertaining
and something which would keep my audience’s attention. When
I had finished taking my photographs I used the software
Photoshop to edit my pictures so that I could expose their full
potential for my newspaper. In my AS year I also used Photoshop
so when coming back for A2 year I found that using the software
to manipulated my images was easier for me to do as I have
already has previous experience.
Through the use of using the saturation and contrast editing
techniques on my photographs I was able to enhance the
features and make them appear more eye catching for the pages
on my newspaper. This allowed me to alter the
hue, saturation and lightness of
my images so that they became
more eye catching to the
reader.
7. From my previous experience in AS using Photoshop I used the
same techniques to edit my images and make them more appealing
for the newspaper. Using the tools on Photoshop came more
natural for me the second time round, for example by using the crop
tool to make my images fit the pages more suitable for the
newspaper was straight forward.
AS coursework. With this image by using
the
contrast and saturation I was able to
make
the person more tanned and darker.
