ASSESSMENT Source of information about what’s happening in the class. It involves the measuring of  Performance Progress and also Problems Feedback
Prejudices Something teachers DO to their ss.  Synonymous with formal testing.  It happens after the learning process has finished A grade mark is the only feedback It oftenconcentrates in one aspect of the class, grally. grammar. Ss. have a passive role
LEARNING AND TEACHING A S S E S S M E N T
SUGGESTIONS AND SOLUTIONS When? Continuous process at diff levels Informal A.  nearly every lesson Formal A. At frequent points throughout the course Self-assessment  at regular intervals Who? Teacher and students Self-assessment  T: to gather information 		Ss.: responsible for their 			own progress.
How? Assessment must be done: Constructively: focus on achievement, not failure  Reliable: =conditions, diff days  = results Valid: If assessing READING COMPREHENSION, X grammar Practical: timeinside/outside class and physical resources Accountable: provide clear indications of progress and conclusions.
To measure the performance and progress of ss., we should consider the three types of assessment during the teaching-learning process.Which are they? Informal Formal Self-assessment
