MuseumWeek version 1 ran last year with Twitter France, Italy, Spain and UK supporting the initiative. This year, it has been open internationally for all cultural venues to sign up. But before I get into the details of MuseumWeek, lets go over a bit of the Twitter platform.
Using Twitter
Using Twitter – first and most important is to know your character limit. You may use 140 or less characters – this includes full stops and spaces. But you can be clever about how you use these characters!
During ‘hashtag’ events such as the monthly CUltureThemes campaigns, I always start my tweet with the hashtag so non-Museum people know straight away it’s a campaign. This encourages followers or those seeing RTs to click on the hashtag but also shows respect to those who aren’t interested to know straight away they can ignore it.
So important for your ‘first’ tweet to add a visual. This could be a photo or Vine / other video. This will help engage your followers and help when they RT your tweet. DOESN’T TAKE FROM CHARACTER COUNT
Tagging people in your photo doesn’t take away from your 140 character limit.
Allows you to ping people and encourage them to RT
Not available on Tweetdeck, but mobile and web version.

Use all campaigns to show off your collections – NOT to sell or market.
Read the tweet back – would you want to engage if you were the reader?
Does it ask a question or pose a reason for people to respond?
Questions off QuestionsMW if any….

Pose – create scene
Posing as works of culture; recreating works. Could be in front of or from online picture/postcard. Try to mimic Van Gogh or recreate a scene from an art work. This is not a simple selfie day – you should use the picture to re-create a scene. Encourage your friends and family to get involved.
