2. When was Apple founded? Apple inc. was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, on April 1st 1976, in Cupertino, California. Apple’s original name was Apple Computer Inc., but was changed to Apple in 2007, six years after it released the first iPod and other consumer electronics.
5. The Apple I The Apple I went on sale in July 1976 at the price of $666.66. It was the first computer or in fact, product released by Apple, and was hand built by Steve Wozniak. It is currently being displayed at the Smithsonian Institution of American History, a museum in Washington DC.
6. The first Mac (the Macintosh) Steve Jobs began working on the Apple Lisa in 1978 but got kicked out of the team, and instead began working on the Macintosh. The Macintosh was released in 1984. Its debut was announced by the now famous $1.5 million television commercial "1984"
8. The Macintosh Portable The Macintosh portable was released in 1989, and was a complete failure. Apple immediately began working on a new portable computer system, the PowerBook series, a portable computer which was lighter and more powerful than any other computer system ever released by Apple. The PowerBook series was on sale from 1991 to 2006 when it was replaced by the MacBook family.
