Its origin
 It has its origin in a Celtic festival.
 A lot of countries interpret Halloween as
the day of the dead, for example Mexico.
 It is a Christian holiday for All Saints’ Day
but today it is more of a secular
celebration.
Nowadays
 Nowadays Halloween is a celebration for
us.
 It is held on 31st October
 Do you like Halloween ?
 This celebration is mainly done to scare
young children with all the Halloween
costumes.
Halloween activities
 Halloween activities were invented by an
American but they have been adopted all
around the world.
 There are lots of activities like:
 Going trick or treating
 Visiting haunted attractions.
•Wearing costumes
 Telling ghost stories
 Watching horror films
 Do you like doing any of these?
Symbols
 One of Halloween’s most important
symbols are the PUMPKINS, people say
that it very important to have them in
Halloween night.
 Other very important symbols are the
haunted houses like this one:
Where does the word Halloween
come from?
 In the 16th century the word Halloween
represented a Scottish variant of All
Hallows – Even, which meant evening.
