A previous Maryland resident, Mark Klinedinst is an emeritus professor of economics at the
University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. Mark Klinedinst has also been a devoted
volunteer with nonprofit organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

In a recent release, Big Brother Big Sisters announced that it received a $500,000 donation as a
result of a fundraising event series hosted by CST Brands, the parent company of Corner Store.
CST Brands organized a 5k run in eight cities called the Corner Store Country Run, to benefit Big
Brother Big Sisters chapters around the United States and Canada. In addition to the donation
for Big Brother Big Sisters, the inaugural fundraising series raised another $500,000 for local
children’s charities in the cities that hosted runs, including Denver, Phoenix, San Antonio, and
Montreal.

The eight races attracted more than 20,000 participants, who also enjoyed a free country fair
featuring a beer garden, live music, food, and giveaways. Given the farm theme of this event,
runners dressed accordingly in cowboy hats and other Western-themed clothing.
