1. Summer Olympic Sport WebQuest

grade unit on the Olympics
Introduction-It is time to train for the Olympics! You have been selected to tryout, train and
participate in beach volleyball. In order to be successful you must research a little about the
sport, so that you know the skills to train for in this event. The tryouts are at the end of the
month, so make sure you are ready. To help you prepare this WebQuest was designed to help
you easily research the event, the rules and some athletes that you may seek help from. We
here at the Olympic central office want to wish you the best of luck with your newly found talent!!
Task-In this WebQuest you and a pre-determined partner will work together and use the
websites provided to research information on this sport. Then as a beach volleyball team you
will create an informational tryout video describing the following:
What the sport is?
How many can play at a time? (either team or pairs)
The rules of the game.
What equipment is necessary or recommended?
1 interesting fact about the history of the sport.
Famous athletes of the sport.
1-2 skills must be explained or demonstrated.

watch.
11. Watch videos, making sure to sit quietly, respecting others.
Evaluation- The students or teams will be evaluated by two different factors. The first, is a peer
evaluation. In this their partner will write on an exit ticket slip, whether their partner was helpful
and participated equally. This will allow the teacher to see how the teams worked together. Also,
the teacher have a rubric provided below to score each category required. (uploaded as an
excel project)
Conclusion-You did it!!! To conclude this lesson/WebQuest write a 5-7 sentence summary of
what you learned to turn in to the teacher/coach. By doing summaries, the students wrap up
their ideas and the teacher can assess whether they grasped the main ideas.
