2. TAXONOMY: What do you already know about taxonomy? What is it??? The science or technique of classification.

3. So… who is “Bloom?” Benjamin Bloom is “old school…” He led a committee of colleges in 1956. They developed: THREE DOMAINS OF LEARNING: *Cognitive: mental skills (Knowledge) *Affective: growth in feelings or emotional areas (Attitude) *Psychomotor: manual or physical skills (Skills)

4. As educators… What domain do you think we’ll focus our attention on??? COGNITIVE domain… You got it right! 

5. Benjamin’s work helps us… Classify the verbs we use in the cognitive domain to promote higher order thinking skills in children. Just like the animal world has a hierarchy, so do the types of questions we ask children that affect their learning… Pretty cool, huh???
