Deleting unwanted auto-complete email addressess
1. Deleting unwanted auto-complete email addressess
Q. I use Outlook and I have a name in in my address book such as JohnGSmith@domain.com. An
email came in from John.Smith@domain.com and I replied to him but did not put him in my address
book. Now every time I want to send an email to JohnGSmith both names show and sometimes the
wrong name is highlighted. I do not want to have to choose. How do I delete
John.Smith@domain.com which is not showing in my address book?
A. What you are seeing is a feature of Microsoft Outlook called Auto-complete. This feature causes
Outlook to make suggestions when you start to type an email address into the To field of a new
message.
Auto-complete is not tied to your address book, rather it is a separate database of addresses you
have used to send email messages.
If you want to delete a specific address from Auto-complete simply start typing the email address.
When the address you want to remove shows up, highlight it and hit the Delete key. This will remove
it from the suggested email addresses.
