coletar, registrar, processar, armazenar,
recuperar e exibir informação, podendo
assim servir-se de diferentes tecnologias
16. interfaces distintas
• diferentes contextos de uso
• diferentes possibilidades de manipulação
• experiências particulares em cada meio
• diferentes níveis de engajamento
o jornal digital permite:
infográficos «interativos», tabelas dinâmicas, customização,
imagem em movimento, integração de mídias, integração com
redes sociais, atualização em tempo real, acesso imediato à
produção histórica de determinado colunista, alertas
customizados por palavras-chave etc.
17. ambiente digital potencializa a
integração produtos + serviços
os produtos deixam de existir isoladamente,
sendo parte de um ecossistema complexo,
que inclui serviços e interfaces diversas.
a experiência perpassa diferentes contextos,
com formas de interação distintas
35. computação pervasiva
computação ubíqua, internet das coisas, objetos inteligentes etc.
objetos do cotidiano comportam componentes
computacionais que captam informações do
ambiente, transmitem dados, estão na rede

This is a signage system at the British Museum
I think signage is a classic example of Information Systems, one that deals with many different aspects of design – architecture, information architecture, information design, way finding and so on.

This is the map of Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro (where I live).
It is an example of geographical information system.
This was a printed page of a catalog, similar to the Yellow Pages. The map here serves as part of a street index system.
And now things start to get a more interesting.
This is also a map of Copacabana, viewed on Google Earth. The same basic geographical information that we saw on the previous slide is enhanced with many other layers of information, including data about places, stores in that location, and other information that can be added by users of this system, like photographs, notes and so on.
It’s a dynamic information system, that can be updated over time.
Again, a map of the same place (Copacabana) on Google Maps, using my cellphone. Here it is also possible to see dynamic data that can be updated over time, although in a less complex interface compared to the desktop version of Google Earth. In this mobile version, the GPS can update my location on the map, so I can easily relate the map to my surroundings.
These last 3 examples intended to show how the interface can make a difference when it comes to deal with the same basic information.
In a sense, the design of the information system can empower the user, adding layers of information and features. But on the other hand, it can also be much more complex to deal with the information system itself, making it harder to use it.
virtualização do jornal: dados que se atualizam em formatos diferentes » só foi possível pela tecnologia digital
cada atualização comporta características e possibilidades de uso diferentes
contexto, condições de fruição, possibilidades de manipulação do artefato
For example, the fact that the cellphone can be used in any place makes people use it in any place.
The fact that we can be tracked anywhere and anytime with our cellphones, make people track us. We are connected full time.
Media creates environments, and we have certain behaviors on these media environments, that sometimes overlaps the expected behavior on a real environment.
Pileus: projeto de Takashi Matsumoto, da Universidade de Keiohttp://www.pileus.net/ -- Pileus is an umbrella connected to the Internet to make walking in rainy days fun. Pileus has a large screen on the top surface, a built-in camera, a motion sensor, GPS, and a digital compass. The current prototype has two main functions: photo-sharing and 3D map navigation.
The photo function is connected to a major web service: Flickr API. A user can take photo with a camera on the umbrella, and pictures are uploaded to Flickr in two minutes with context tags via a wireless Internet connection. User can also enjoy themselves watching photo-streams downloaded from Flickr with simple operation of wrist snapping.
It also has a function of 3D Map. Detecting a location data from GPS, it shows a 3D bird view around the user. User can walk-through a city comparing the 3D views and real sights, and the map is always updated by GPS and a digital compass. It aims to create natural augmented reality with a large information screen on the umbrella.
This is the weather rooster (galinho meteorológico). It is a Brazilian popular product that helps to predict the weather, without needing any computing device.
The rooster is coated with layers of cobalt chloride, a chemical with the property of changing its color depending on the humidity of the air. The blue color indicates low humidity, while the shades of pink indicate an environment with higher humidity in the air.
Obviously the accuracy of this system is limited, since the humidity of an environment is not related only to the weather conditions.

This is the GoodNight Lamp, by Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino. It is a “family” of lamps, composed of a large “parent” lamp and smaller ones, the children.
Each "parent lamp" is wirelessly connected to its children
The idea is to give away the little lamps to your loved ones. Wherever they are, when you turn your light on, theirs will turn on as well, giving a sense of closeness and presence.
Although the information conveyed is very limited, like “I’m here, I’m home”, its effect can be very powerful among the users of this system, but without demanding their attention completely, leaving them free to carry on with other tasks.
