4. Visual/Performing Artist’s
Responsibilities
"I am an artist... It's self-evident that what that
word implies is looking for something all the
time without ever finding it in full. It is the
opposite of saying, 'I know all about it. I've
already found it.' As far as I'm concerned, the
word means, 'I am looking. I am hunting for it.
I am deeply involved.'"
~Vincent Van Gogh~

If you are going to work in this business as a performer, director, designer, technician, administrator (probably more than one) you are going to have to communicate as, for or about many different aspects and constructs of this art form.
Cosmic knowledge? Osmosis? What if you miss the semester when Shakespeare is produced. You have a responsibility to be a life long learner. It is not just about the roles YOU play or the designs YOU create. There is a large body of knowledge - The sign of an educated person is NOT knowing everything, BUT being able to quickly find, understand and apply new knowledge.

A carefully researched, relatively full narrative account of the life of a specific person or closely related group of people, written by another. The biographer selects the most interesting and important events with the intention of elucidating the character and personality of the biographee and placing the subject's life in social, cultural, and historical context. An authorized biography, written with the consent and sometimes the cooperation of its subject, may be less critical than an unauthorized biography.

Chronologically ordered – subject specific
A book or section of a book that lists events and their dates in the order of their occurrence. Most chronologies are limited to a specific period (example: Roman Empire), event (World War II), or theme (women's history). Book-length chronologies are usually shelved in the reference section of a library (example: Day by Day: The Sixties, Facts on File, 1983). Click here to see an example of an online chronology of book history. In a more general sense, a document that describes events or other information in order of their occurrence, to allow the reader to follow their development in time. Compare with calendar.
