- 3. A student needs to conduct research. First, they can visit the media center’s Ning.
- 4. Next, they can navigate to their group page to view tools and resources.
- 5. From this page, they can view discussions and follow links to library- and subject-oriented resources.
- 6. Information literacy instructional materials can be linked from here as a refresher for students.
- 7. NetVibes can be used to build a pathfinder for each class, subject, or topic.
- 8. The NetVibes “Search” tab is a great place to aggregate resources with direct searching capability.
- 9. Students are linked with not only web resources but also library resources, such as databases.
- 10. Students can search a database, subscribe to an RSS feed for their search terms, and bookmark results using Delicious or Zotero, all in Firefox.
- 11. This is just one example of what is possible within our Instruction, Tools, Resources framework. Each element can be adjusted to suit the needs of individual classes, students, and teachers.
