2. TODAY…
• We will create a chart to continue brainstorming our Personal Narrative.
• Your chart will have 4 parts to it.
• In this presentation, we will learn about each of the four parts.
• After this presentation, you will create a chart of your own based on the four pieces of
Realistic Fiction that we talk about today.
• In the chart, you will answer the questions for each section that are here in this

Good Writers Remember These Strategies…
• Orient Readers with the setting
• Show don’t tell
• Feel and draft the story with HEART and PASSION
• Write beautiful leads and endings
4. MODERN SETTING
• Where does your story take place?
• How are you going to paint a picture of this setting in your readers’ mind?
• What are some descriptive words that you could use in order to really set the scene
for your readers?
5. CHARACTER DRIVEN
• What will you character do, say and feel?
• How will you make your main character come alive?
• Are you going to have more than one character in your story?
• How are your characters connected to one another?
6. BELIEVEABLE PROBLEM
• What is going to be the main problem in your story?
• How are you going to reveal this problem?
• Is this problem connected to what you want to teach your readers? (Think back to the
passion survey you took?)
7. NARRATIVE TALK

• Whose point of view will you use?
