Ein Panelbeitrag auf der DVRW Tagung 2011 in Heidelberg. Diskutiert wird der Versuch den Diskurs zwischen der Church of England und der Firma Sony anhand des Autoritätsverständnisses bei Max Weber zu analysieren. Der Streit zwischen Sony und der CoE entbrannte aufgrund der virtuellen Darstellung der Manchester Cathedral in einem Computerspiel.

science ction in which a ctitious 1950s Britain is under attack by

Manchester Diocese: Teachers tell us that teenagers in particular
are interested to see a building which they thought was ctional.

Dean of Manchester Cathedral: So we do forgive Sony for what
they have done, even though they still believe they have done
nothing wrong. In an industry that is breaking new frontiers, it is
important that long held traditions of lm and television are
maintained. These traditions include having courtesy, respecting the
dignity of your subject, and admitting when mistakes have been
made. In so many ways Sony have failed to live up to these
standards by disrespecting people of faith and the victims of gun
crime here in Manchester.

Der Angri auf den traditionalen Charakter religiöser Authorität in
From der Gewalthandlungen im religiösen Raum kann durch den
rationalen Charakter der Authorität der CoE nicht abgewendet
werden. Der CoE fehlt im virtuellen Setting genau diese rationale
Authorität. Da die CoE sich dann an zuständige rationale
Authoritäten (Gerichte) wenden muss, beschädigt sie gleichzeitig
durch das Fehlen ihrer rationalen Authorität auch die traditionale
Authorität in der Virtualität. Dies korrigiert die CoE ezient und
angemessen, durch Rückzug der Klage und Reetablierung ihrer
Authorität zumindest im traditionalen Bereich im Feld
charismatischer Authorität. Ob dadurch auch rationale Authorität
in Virtualität geschaen werden konnte ist oen.
