2.  This games, officially known as the
games of the XXVII Olympiad, were an
international multi-sport event which was
celebrated between 15 September and
1 October.
 10.651 athletes participated (6.582 men
y 4.069 women) from 199 countries
competing in 28 sports and 300
specialties.

4.  At the opening ceremony, the athlete
Cathy Freeman was the first native to
light the Olympic flame and the second
woman to do, after the Mexican
Enriqueta Basilio.
 199 nations participated in the Games,
creating a new brand.
 For the first time, North Korea and South
Korea marched under one flag during
the Opening Ceremony.
