We’ve created an automated diabetes diary.
I’m a type 1 diabetic myself, my body no longer produces the insulin hormone, rather I must inject it with an external device.
If I don’t get insulin, I’ll be in a coma in 24 hours, dead in 48. Make sure I inject insulin. If I inject too much, I may be dead in an hour.
Knowing how much to inject in any situation depends on current glucose level, nutrition, physical activity. Hormonal system is really complicated, individual, and constantly changing as our lifes change. I need to track many parameters, and learn from the data.
Diabetes is a major epidemic!
Since diabetes treatment is so data driven, you might think there’s an app for that.
Blue boxes, addressable market, people with both diabetes and a smartphone. Currently 140 Million.
Less than 2 million people out of those 140 million use any of the diabetes apps.
