Fill this land with the Father’s glory.
Blaze, Spirit, blaze.

Flow, river, flow!
Flood the nations with grace and mercy.
Send forth Your word,
Lord, and let there be light!
7. Lord, I come to Your awesome presence
from the shadows into Your radiance.
By the blood I may enter Your brightness;
search me, try me, consume all my
darkness.
Shine on me, shine on me.
8. Shine, Jesus, shine!
Fill this land with the Father’s glory.

you light up the way for us.
Lord, you are powerful,
you light up the way for us.
Lord, you give us courage,
you light up the way for us.
Lord, you never leave us,
you light up the way for us.
We make our prayer through Christ,
our Lord. Amen.
14. Now about eight days after these sayings
Jesus took with him Peter and John and
James, and went up on the mountain to
pray. 29 And while he was praying, the
appearance of his face changed, and his
clothes became dazzling white. 30 Suddenly
they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking
to him. 31 They appeared in glory and were
speaking of his departure, which he was
about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
28
15. Now Peter and his companions were
weighed down with sleep; but since they had
stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two
men who stood with him. 33 Just as they were
leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is
good for us to be here; let us make three
dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and
one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said.
34
While he was saying this, a cloud came and
overshadowed them; and they were terrified
as they entered the cloud.
32
16. Then from the cloud came a voice that
said, “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to
him!” 36 When the voice had spoken, Jesus
was found alone. And they kept silent and in
those days told no one any of the things they
had seen.

18. Bible notes
This week gives us a chance to look back at
where we have been, and forward to where
we are going. Jesus experiences this vision
while praying. Here it is quite clear that the
vision was primarily an affirmation to Jesus,
and is designed to reassure him that his
death in Jerusalem would be the
accomplishment of his mission.
19. Moses and Elijah probably represent the
Law and the Prophets. Some see them as
also representing the two routes Jesus
chose not to follow: armed insurrection and
the destruction of the pagans. In that case,
their presence is confirming Jesus’ option for
peaceful resistance and his
acknowledgement of the faith of pagans.
20. Make connections
There are times when we need to ‘get away
from it all’: when we can take stock and
reaffirm that we are following a right course,
making good decisions or acting wisely and
justly. These moments might be to a place
or with people that will help in that process.
Jesus might easily have gone off on his
own but retreated with others.
21. They were there to witness and to support.
As Jesus came down the mountain, a new
chapter in his ministry was beginning, and it
is worth asking ourselves how we might see
God’s glory in our ordinary world to make it
extraordinary
22. Explore
A time to take stock, to step back.
Lent is a good time to give ourselves a
spiritual ‘MOT’, to check we are running as
we should. So this week is a good time to
look ahead, to get ourselves ready for the
coming season.
Reflection
We encourage you this week to work on
your own at first, to do as Jesus did, and
make time to pray.
23. Pray this simple prayer and then simply sit.
God, you can transform our lives:
enter my heart and let me feel your presence.
Help me to see you in the world around me,
in my relationships,
in the ordinary things of life.
Transform me, loving God,
into the person you want me to be.
Guide me. Show me what I need to do.
Amen.
24. Allow yourself as much time as you can to
listen to what God might have to say to you.
You might use a candle or other light to help
you focus.
‘Please don’t set fire to your home!!!’
28. Be still, for the presence of the Lord,
the Holy One, is here.
Come bow before Him now
with reverence and fear.
In Him no sin is found.
We stand on holy ground.
Be still, for the presence of the Lord,
the Holy One is here.
29. Be still, for the glory of the Lord,
is shining all around.
He burns with holy fire,
with splendour He is crowned.
How awesome is the sight our radiant King of light!
Be still, for the glory of the Lord,
is shining all around.
31. Jesus, whether we are up or down,
we will travel with you.
Amen.
Jesus, the light, shine on me.
Jesus, the teacher, help me listen.
Jesus, the healer, put your hands on me.
Jesus, amazing one, help me stick
with you as you walk to your cross
and to your glory.
Amen.
32. God, you can transform our lives:
enter my heart and let me feel your
presence.
Help me to see you in the world around
me,
in my relationships,
in the ordinary things of life.
Transform me, loving God,
into the person you want me to be.
Guide me.
Show me what I need to do.
Amen.
33. Prayers for each other and our loved ones:Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has
taught us:Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom
come; thy will be done; on earth as it is
in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass
against us. And lead us not into
temptation; but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power
34. Bless to us, O God
The moon that is above us,
The earth that is beneath us
The friends who are around us,
Your image deep within us
The rest which is before us. Amen
Send us out, carrying your word in our hearts,
to tell others what we have heard. Amen.
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord
In the name of Christ. Amen
