2. Here is a mixture of posters that I have found that are either a
poster for a brewery or a opening soon kind of poster. Since this is
something that I am looking at doing. I also found a few brewery
photographs too since when I have taken some as well and I was
thinking of doing some post production on the ones I like and
sending them to my client as well to see what they think and if
they will be any use to them at all.
By looking at these posters I am able to either see how I could
mine different and fit with my client or I would be able to make
them similar to this kind of worn and old fashioned kind of look
that the majority of the posters have. They also have quiet dull
colours, the colours aren't a massive stand out to the posters but
they do still have it to draw people in rather then being just plain
black and white.

5. On the last two slides I have filled with the photographs that I had taken at the brewery, which on these slides are the ones that I like the most. I think I will then go a
head and do some post production on these so that I can really bring out the detail and colour in these photographs. I think then when I have done this I am going to
send some of these photographs and my posters to my client so that they are able to choose which ones it is they like best and then they are free to do what they
wish with these photographs. This way I am giving my client a few more things that they haven't really asked for so this way I can make sure that my work does appeal
to them and they are able to find use in the items I give back to them whether they use these things now or later on down the road.
When looking at my photographs I feel like a lot of them do appeal to me and I can see some use in them but as you can see they are bright in colour and I see this as
something I can really work with in post production. I want to make them really stand out and put more of that detail in to them.
Here are some things that my client has sent me to
use within my work I have then looked at all the
different colours in the logo as I feel like this is
something that may help me when making my
posters. As if I am going to add any colour into my
poster designs then I would like the colours to come
from the logo design so that it all ties in together
rather then finding my own colours and hoping that
they go with it.
I feel like all these things are really going to help me when it comes to making my posters and really figuring out what it is that looks best. I am also going to try and
take inspiration from the posters from other brewers that I have found as I do like the worn old look they have and this could be something I can transfer to my own
work. But it could be tricky as with the logo of my company you can see how they are more hipster with the way they would like to look. So I feel like this is something
that I may need to focus on more and try and bring a new style to the brewer posters I have found already but I do feel like if I did some more research I may be able
too find some posters that do have more of this hipster style as I feel like this will suite my company a lot more then the worn look. But it is something that I may be
willing to try to see if it would work.
But I have looked at colours and I know now what I am able to use and what goes together other then just using normal black and white as well. I have some other
things that my client has sent me as well like beer labels which I don’t feel like is something I can work with as much but I may have a lot too see what I could do. I
then have my own photographs I have taken that could be of some help when making my posters as this way the customers get more of an insight of the company as
well.
6. Schedule
With my schedule there isn't much that I can say as through out the two weeks all I plan to do is make a huge range of posters as I would like to give my client a big
range for them to choose what it is they like best from these. As I think this way I know for sure I will make something they like. So through out the two weeks my plan
is to try and make as many as I am able too but while still keeping a high quality I also plan to improve with each poster I do. As I still haven't got too much of a clue for
what my client would like. So I think if I go a head and make one poster I am then able to send it to them so that I can see what it tis they like about it and what they
think I could maybe improve on. As I thin this is the best way to really understand what my client would like. I think from their I then am able to really get and idea and
improve with each poster I make. I also do have an email from my client containing things that could come in use and also a lot of information of who they are things I
could add to the poster and also simple things like the fonts they like and use. As all this will come in handy to helping me really get what they would like to see.
I think another thing I am able to do if I have time is then use the photographs I have taken of their business myself and choose the best ones to do some pot
production too so that I am giving my client a little bit more then what they asked as I feel like I would not be able to use this for my posters so I think by doing this I
am giving them more then they asked but these photographs are more use to them then me so I think it would be nice to see if they could use them. But this is
something that I only plan to do if I have the time. As I think the posters may take a while to make and to get a true idea of what I would like to do. To make my
posters I will be using Photoshop as this can offer me a lot depending on what I is is I decide I would like to do.
From what they sent me I think the main things I will use is the logo of the business that is opening as I think this is the only use, even though they have sent me
things like beer labels and things as well. But I think it would be hard to try and fit these into my posters. As the labels are also very bright colours an di think they
would distract people from what it is I am trying to do. Due to the target audience being a little older to me as I see the target audience as being middle ages this is
something I really need to think about to make sure that I am appealing to them. So I think bright colours wouldn't appeal as much and really wouldn't have an affect
or work. So I think if I stick to either black and white or even the colours that they have their logo. As these colours aren't bright and more toned down so I think these
would work well too.
I'm hoping to stay within my schedule and only having two weeks of production so that then I am able to have a week to complete my evaluation but during my
production I will need to make sure that I am writing about what I am making. As this way I am able to document what of my poster works and what doesn't work as
well. As this way it can be easier when making my posters so that I can stay away from what I think doesn't look good. If I’m not able to stick to the two weeks this will
have affect on my evaluation and my pre production and will create more work and stress. Which is why it would be best to keep to the two weeks. Which I think I am
able to do if I am able to find a good design for my posters in time.
7. Here is the first poster that I have made for my client as you can see with this poster I used a lot of
the colours that I found in the logo and banner. Since this was my first poster to make I can see a
few things that could do with changing or tweaking and this was a poster that I sent to my client to
get their opinion as well. Which this was a poster that they weren't too keen on which is
understandable but it was my first poster to make and se what it is they could have liked about and
what they didn't.
Here was the reply that they had sent after I had sent them this poster to see how I could improve
it and to really get an idea of what it is they were looking for. What they said was that they
preferred if I kept the post just black and white they were to keen on the colour look that I had
come up with. They also wasn’t too much of a massive fan of the emoji boarder which was
something that I had gotten from them and wanted to use it to really tie in with the labels and
designs they make. But I can see now how it is a little too big and your eyes go to that first rather
then the information or even the actual name of what it is I am making a poster for. So like I said if I
am to use it then I would make it a lot smaller or not even use it at all.
But this is why I made this poster first and got their opinion as it really did help me decide what it is
that I was able to make and really understand what it was that they were looking for. With my next
designs I was really able to think more about what would be best for their company and to really
appeal to their customers and hopefully even gain more customers if lucky.
Some things I personally like about this poster is the colour scheme I think I liked more of the top
half then the bottom as I feel like that was more put together and would really get peoples
attention. Where as I feel like the banner and the bottom half of the poster is where it starts to go
a little bit down hill. As I know for starters I think I put too much writing in the bottom and for a
poster it should speak for it self. Then you can hardly see the writing of where they are and just
some of the important information. So for my next poster I feel like I may have another try at the
colour and see what I can up with to the point it is something that they may like. But also this way I
am able to give them a range that they are able to pick which ones it is they would like to use as it
gives them more freedom as well.
8. Here is the second draft that I made. Which you can see I took the advice from my client and tried to work with that
more. I'm still not too keen on how this poster came out either I feel like I still have a way to go to really try and get
the poster look I would like to go for. What I do like about this poster that I made is the white text on the
background which isn't a harsh black its more offset which I think really helps the poster in not being too harsh on
peoples eyes and still really easy to read. Yet again I do like the top half of my poster I think it really works and
everything is separated so that everything has its room and it doesn't look to crowded or anything. I then think the
banner works a lot better on this poster with it being smaller as it gives a little bit more room on the poster but also
its not longer the main focus and it work very well. But I still think either way it would work well without the banner
as well. So I feel like this is something that I do need to focus on at some point with just not having a banner at all.
Then when looking at the bottom half of this poster I think it has improved with the fact you don’t have the massive
paragraph anymore but there is still a bit of work to be done as I am still not a massive fan of how it worked out and
I'm not too sure if that its because of the photograph I added in. I like the opening times as they stand out and from
the big paragraph they were the main piece of information that I did kind of needed to add in. I then noticed that it
was missing something as there was extra room so I decided to add one of my photographs in but I have now come
to realise that it still doesn't look right and I think this is a poster that I could maybe improve with what it is I decide
to add into that gap. Here is the photograph that I decided to add to the poster which you can see I
did some post production to it which I don’t think worked too well and that this
could be improved a little as well. So I think I may go back to this poster and
see what else it is that I could maybe add to this gap instead of the photograph
as even though it is showing off their product I just don’t see an actual
photograph being able to work on any of the posters I make. As I it is a cartoon
kind of look.
Here I then have that poster but this time I got rid of the emoji banner which
you can see made a massive difference to this poster and I do think it looks a lot
better in my opinion. But I feel like I could still work a little with the actual logo
they gave me for the opening they are doing. As I feel like the white really blends
in since that is the colour I decided to use for y text. But then if I put my text in
an actual colour I feel like it would still be the main attraction of the poster so
this is something that I may next need to work on to see what I could do. But I
think also with the emoji banner gone also the photograph does go a lot better
on the poster but its still something I'm not too sur I would like on my posters.
9. Since I had done a lot of posters with a black kind of background I decided to change it up and do
one with a white background. Which I do like I think the wiring stands out a lot more with it being
black and the logo stands out a lot better and doesn't tend to blend in this time. I think this poster
has more of a bold look to it so I know its something that will catch peoples eye for its lack of
colour and the fact that the black makes it look a lot more important. I think I would still like to try
it with colour as well just to see if it would look as eye catching as this one but also I think it is
something that would work really well with the white background. With this poster I have still kept
it looking simple and only added text that I thought was either important or really persuade
people to go and visit the place when it opens. I then have this poster too which is very similar
but I haven't just added a little bit more to it
which think doesn't work as much. As now the
poster looks a lot more busy. So I think when
making my poster keeping to simple look works a
lot better as this way its also a lot easier to see
the information. SO I think when my client said
about the banner just being a little too much I do
agree I think it does work better on the black
background but on the white background even
when smaller it does take your attention away
from the important things. Then when looking at
the image I had also placed on to the poster I just
see it as something that doesn't work and just
doesn't go with the overall poster look. So I think
when I go on to make more posters I will leave
actual photographs off the poster as I've tried it
twice now on two different colour backgrounds
and I just don’t think they work. But I am still
trying to find what looks best with my posters and
what I think my clients would really like.
10. Still keeping to the more simple look here it two more designs that I have tried to
see if they would work. When looking at the first one you can see that it is very
similar to others that I have made but this time I got rid of the emoji banner
altogether which left this kind of big black of white that came with the logo which
I'm not too overly happy with as this is what I was trying to get rid of by adding
the banner even though I do prefer it without the banner. But my problem was
that if I got rid of the white background you couldn't’t read the text with the
background colour I had decided to use. I do like the first poster but I think it is a
little too simple nothing on it really screams out to you. Which I think is
something I need to work on as I really want to get peoples attention so that they
do go to this place. I do like the look of the next poster a lot more I do think I am
finally going somewhere to which I would be happy with how my poster looks.
There are still some things that could do to be fixed for example when looking at
the top half of the poster it looks too busy and I think the ’Opening’ and where it
is are a little too high up and could do to be a little lower. Also with this posters
case I don’t think you really need ‘Perfect place to…’ as i think this does jsut make
it a little bit more cramped up. So if got rid of this and moved the other thinsg
lower down it would work more as the tp half of the poster. Then i dont like the
look of the banners in this case as i think they make the poster look too busy.
Then when looking at the bottom half I think there are things I like but yet again it could do with some improvements. I do like what I did with the
beer bottle I think it is something that I would like to use for other posters as I think it works as kind of a photograph but just works better as this
fits in unlike the photographs did. My only problem is I don’t think it works with this background colour and I think would work a lot better with
more of a lighter colour if I was to look at either a white or even a subtle grey I think it would work better with the colours. As I think with this
background colour you can see the gradient a lot more as it doesn't seem to blend as well. Also the shadow I created you can see has a brown
tinge to it with this background which is something I’m not too fond of either. I then think the bottom half as well still looks crowded too. But this
I think is due to the beer bottle and how the big the text is I think I haven't really figured out where I was going to place it all which had made it
look more busy then it is. I think to make this work better I could get rid of where it tells you where the business it located and move the opening
and closing times down a little. As this way its not too high up and too close to that banner which I think is the issue. If the banner wasn’t there as
well I don’t think it would look as busy and I think overall this poster would work a lot better in my opinion. But I am still learning what works best
and looks best to really try and achieve a good poster for my client.
11. From making so many posters I
decided that I would go for a
complete different style to what I ad
been doing. Which I think in my
opinion this style does look a lot
more appealing and works better
then with the other posters I have
made. As instead of the background
being just one solid colour I've
decided to go for two instead just to
give the poster something more but
to also look different to ones I have
already seen. I think this poster
does work and you have all the
information that is needed I think
only one piece of information that I
may need to add is what times it
does open and close but I'm not too
sure where I would put this on the
poster to make sure that the poster
didn't look too crowded or too busy
as I think at this point that is my
biggest worry now that I have found
a design idea that I do like and I
think will work.
When sending my client the first poster they had said that they loved it and so by this I gathered that
they didn't have any major issues with the poster or improvements. Which is why I wen ton to then
make more of this idea but in different kind of colours so that this way my client still has a few to
choose from but they are able to even use them all if they would fancy. I think I may make a few more
or even just one but this time I think I would make it in colour instead. As I think this way it goes with
their logo as well. Bu they will have the final choice of whether they would like to use the colour one
or not. As in my opinion I don’t think it looks bad it does look different to these ones I have made and
doesn't fit in with this theme that I have managed to created with the white and grey. Another thing I
may change about these posters is the bottle label as this is something that I don’t think I am too keen
on but I think it is also something I would ask my client about.
