The year 2017 was, without a doubt, a
year of transition. We took office in April,
and our first mission was to understand
the reality of the Pan American Sports
Organization and its 41 member countries.
We wanted to know their needs, strengths,
who needs the most help, and who could
provide their expertise to help us achieve
our goals. We met with everyone and were
able to diagnose the continent and, at the
same time, create a “Game Plan” for the
coming years.
We had to get to work and we had to do it fast.
Despite being financially stable, we needed
to take a look at modernizing aspects of our
administration.
This is how we began growing as an
organization and building a team of young
professionals who, complimentary to our
experienced Panam Sports veterans, assured
us it would not take long to see the fruit of
their hard work which meets today’s modern
standards.
In 2018, our Pan American Sports Organization
turned 70 years old and it filled us with pride to
celebrate this anniversary. It has taken 70 years
of work, effort and passion from many people
along the way: all of the former Presidents,
Executive Committee Members, NOC leaders,
athletes, coaches, and employees of this
organization. I would like to thank each and
every single one of them from the bottom of
my heart for everything they have done for this
Organization to be what it is today.
We developed a Strategic Plan with input not
only from the Panam Sports team, but also
from the key participation and support from our
Executive Committee and NOCs. Without them,
it would have been very difficult to accomplish
our goal.
With our roadmap in place, and preparing for
the upcoming Lima 2019 Pan American Games
as our flagship event, we completed our first
year on a completely positive note at the
PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics in South
Korea, with outstanding performances from the
United States and Canada as well as the Winter
Olympic debut of Ecuador.
In April, we traveled to Thailand to participate
in the SportAccord Convention where we were
able to establish strong bonds with Presidents
of International Federations and companies
linked to sport. Let me stop to take a moment
in memory of my dear friend and President of
SportAccord, Patrick Baumann. It is a terrible
loss for sport worldwide and we will miss him
dearly.
This year also marked an important milestone for
our organization. For the first time ever, we held an
Executive Committee Meeting in the Caribbean,
specifically in Grenada. It was a great experience
which we will repeat in the near future.
As far as the Regional Games, I had the
pleasure to attend the South American Games
in Cochabamba, the Central American and
Caribbean Games in Barranquilla and, of
course, the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos
Aires. Three events which, without a doubt,
filled us with pride and reinforced the fact that
our continent and its member countries are
capable of organizing these types of mega-
events. My congratulations to everyone who
took part in these sporting celebrations: sports
leaders, athletes and the general public who
filled each and every one of these sporting
venues.
Our Olympic Solidarity Programs such as
Olympamerica and NOC Infrastructure also
played a major role this year. Thanks to the help
of the IOC, and the hard work of each of the
NOCs, we were able to open several Olympic
venues, offices, fields and gyms throughout
2018. This investment of more than seven million
dollars made the dreams of many of the NOCs
and athletes from the Americas a reality.
The athletes of the Americas remain our top
priority. This is why, from the first day we took
office, we gave our athletes the importance
and status they deserve within our institution.
They are the heart of Panam Sports, and we
will look out for those who are only beginning
their athletic career, the active athletes, as well
as those who are close to retirement or have
already retired. They are all part of our Pan
American family and this is why we hosted an
extremely successful Athlete Forum last October
in Miami. We were able to come together
and develop several measures that we must
incorporate so that in the following years each
Olympic Committee of Panam Sports and the
Organizing Committees of the Pan American
Games can stretch the bonds between athletes
and sport leaders, and even include athletes
among the leaders of these organizations.

I’ve purposely left Lima 2019 for the end. When
we took on this great challenge in April of 2017,
we were very aware that our immediate focus
was the Pan American Games. We met with
Carlos Neuhaus and his team, we outlined the
main objectives and we got to work.
And the truth is, the compromise, the hard
work, and the passion that they have shown
has made this an exemplary year. The Athlete
Village as well as the venues are advancing at
a surprising pace and the operations team is
working tirelessly.
We’ve had many bumps along the way, but the
most important thing is that COPAL has had an
open mind and they’ve been able to listen, to
pave the way and work together with Panam
Sports for this great event.
We are on the final stretch. There are only a
few months remaining until the Lima National
Stadium will welcome the 41 delegations and
the thousands of people who will travel to
Peru specifically to watch our star athletes of
the Americas. The excitement of sport and the
eyes of the world will be focused on Peru on
July 26th as the eighteenth edition of the Pan
American Games begins. It will be a unique and
unforgettable celebration.
This new year is filled with new and great
challenges, and Panam Sports is ready to tackle
them with the eagerness and passion that has
always characterized this organization.

El 2017 fue, sin lugar a dudas, un año de
transición. Asumimos en abril, y nuestra
primera misión fue conocer en detalle
la realidad de la Organización Deportiva
Panamericana y sus 41 países miembros.
Sus necesidades, sus fortalezas, a quienes
debíamos ayudar más y quienes podrían
aportar con su experiencia a nuestros
objetivos. Nos reunimos con todos, y pudimos
obtener una radiografía del continente, y
a la vez crear una “Hoja de Ruta” para los
próximos años.
Había que comenzar a trabajar rápido. Pese
a estar muy bien y económicamente estable,
necesitábamos dar un vuelco en cuanto a
modernización y administración.
Fue así como comenzamos a crecer como
organización y a conformar un equipo de
jóvenes profesionales que, en complemento
con el experimentado grupo ya existente,
estábamos seguros que no tardaríamos en
ver un trabajo fructífero y acorde a los nuevos
tiempos.
Este 2018, nuestra Organización Deportiva
Panamericana cumplió 70 años de historia. Y
nos llenó de orgullo celebrar este aniversario.
Son 70 años de trabajo, de esfuerzo y pasión de
muchas personas a lo largo del tiempo: todos
los expresidentes, los miembros de los comités
ejecutivos, las autoridades de los CONs, los
deportistas, entrenadores y los funcionarios de
esta entidad. A todos ellos quiero agradecerles
de corazón todo lo que han hecho para que
esta Organización sea lo que es hoy en día.

Panam Sports sino que también, fue clave la
participación y aportes del Comité Ejecutivo
y los CON´s, sin ellos, hubiese sido muy difícil
haber logrado nuestro producto final.
Finalizado nuestro mapa de ruta, y con la
prioridad número 1 de sacar adelante los
Juegos Panamericanos de Lima, completamos
un año sumamente positivo que incluyó unos
destacados Juegos Olímpicos de Invierno de
PyeongChang Corea del Sur, con destacadas
actuaciones de Estados Unidos y Canadá, y que
contó con el debut de Ecuador en este tipo de
competencias.
En abril viajamos a Tailandia donde participamos
en SportAccord, y pudimos establecer
importantes lazos con los Presidentes de las
Federaciones Internacionales y con empresas
relacionadas al deporte. Me detengo, para
recordar a quien fue presidente de ese
organismo, mi gran amigo Patrick Baumann. Una
lamentable perdida para el deporte mundial. Sin
duda, lo echaremos mucho de menos.
El 2018 también marcó un importante hito
para nuestra organización. Por primera vez en
su historia se realizó en el Caribe una reunión
del Comité Ejecutivo. Granada fue el destino
elegido. Una gran experiencia que por supuesto,
buscaremos repetir en un futuro cercano.
En cuanto a Juegos Regionales tuve el placer de
estar presente en los Juegos Suramericanos de
Cochabamba y los Juegos Centroamericanos
y del Caribe de Barranquilla, y por supuesto, en
los Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud de Buenos
Aires. Tres eventos que, sin duda, nos llenaron
de orgullo y que demostraron una vez más, que
nuestro continente, y sus países miembros, son
capaces de organizar grandes megaeventos. Mis
felicitaciones a todos quienes fueron parte de
estas verdaderas fiestas deportivas: Dirigentes,
deportistas y al público en general, que repletó
cada una de las sedes.
Nuestros Programas de Solidaridad Olímpica
como Olympamérica y de Infraestructura jugaron
un papel muy importante este año. Gracias
al apoyo del COI, y al trabajo y motivación de
los diferentes Comités Olímpicos nacionales,
este 2018, pudimos inaugurar diversas sedes
Olímpicas, oficinas, canchas, recintos y gimnasios.
Con una inversión que superó los 7 millones de
dólares pudimos hacer realidad el sueño de
muchos CONs y deportistas de las Américas.
Los atletas para nosotros son la mayor prioridad.
Es por eso que, desde el primer día que
asumimos, le dimos la importancia y el sitial que
ellos se merecen dentro de la institución. Son
el corazón de Panam Sports, nos preocupan
aquellos que están comenzando su carrera
deportiva, los activos y también los que están
cerca de su retiro o que ya se han despedido
del alto rendimiento. Ellos son parte también
de la familia panamericana y es por eso que
organizamos un exitoso foro en octubre en
la ciudad de Miami, donde pudimos concluir
en conjunto, varios puntos y medidas a tomar,
para que en los próximos años cada Comité
Olímpico miembro de Panam Sports y también
las Corporaciones organizadoras de los Juegos
Panamericanos, puedan estrechar aún más los
lazos entre deportistas y dirigentes, y cuenten
entre sus filas con atletas en su directorio.
He querido dejar Lima 2019 para el final. En abril
del 2017 cuando tomamos este desafío sabíamos
que nuestra primera prioridad era el éxito de
los Juegos Panamericanos. Nos reunimos con
Carlos Neuhaus y su equipo, delineamos las
coordenadas y nos pusimos manos a la obra.
Y la verdad es que el compromiso, el trabajo y la
pasión que se ha puesto este 2018 es ejemplar.
Tanto la Villa de Atletas como las Sedes avanzan
a una velocidad sorprendente, y el equipo
operativo está trabajando sin descanso.
Han existido varios obstáculos en el camino,
pero lo importante es que en COPAL han sabido
escuchar, enmendar el camino y trabajar en
equipo junto a Panam Sports por este gran
evento.
Estamos en la recta final. Quedan pocos meses
para que el Estadio Nacional de Lima reciba
a las 41 delegaciones y a las miles y miles de
personas que irán a Perú especialmente, a ver a
nuestras estrellas del deporte de las Américas.
El próximo 26 de julio la emoción del deporte
y los ojos del mundo se concentrarán en Perú,
con la realización de los decimoctavos Juegos
Panamericanos de la historia, en una fiesta que
promete ser única e inolvidable.
Este año que recién ha comenzado, viene
cargado de nuevos y grandes desafíos, y Panam
Sports se alista para vivirlo con el compromiso,
las ganas y la pasión que siempre han
caracterizado a esta organización.

DE LA ORGANIZACIÓN

Beginning in 1951, thousands of athletes have
risen above their competition to bring their
country glory on the podium of the Pan
American Games. Nearly all of the 41 nations of
the Panam Sports family have won medals at
the 17 editions of the Pan Am Games, with the
United States leading all nations in gold and
total medals earned.
A partir de 1951, miles de atletas con pasión, se
han esforzado para llevar a su país a la gloria
en el podio de los Juegos Panamericanos. La
mayoría de las 41 naciones de la familia Panam
Sports han ganado medallas en las 17 ediciones
de este evento continental, con Estados Unidos
liderando el medallero histórico con la mayor
cantidad de preseas totales y de oro logradas en

The incredible year for Panam Sports began
with a visit to the Peruvian capital, Lima,
where the next edition of the Pan American
Games will be held in July 2019.
Before 2018 began, little progress had been
made developing the infrastructure and
venues that will be used to ensure athletes will
compete in world-class Games. However, a visit
by Panam Sports President Neven Ilic to the
Lima 2019 Athlete Village provided optimism
that the Organizing Committee was on the right
path to hosting another successful edition of
the Pan American Games.
El increíble año para Panam Sports comenzó
con una visita a la capital peruana, Lima,
donde se celebrará la próxima edición de los
Juegos Panamericanos en julio del 2019.
Antes de que comenzara el 2018, se había
avanzado poco en el desarrollo de la
infraestructura y los lugares que se usarán
para que los atletas compitan en juegos de
clase mundial. Una visita del presidente de
Panam Sports, Neven Ilic, a la Villa de Atletas de
Lima 2019 y algunas sedes, brindó optimismo
y tranquilidad al Comité Organizador y los
instó a seguir por el camino correcto para así
albergar otra edición exitosa de los Juegos

competition into high gear for athletes of the
Americas.
Twelve countries of the Panam Sports family
competed at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter

Just two short months after the first visit to
Lima of 2018, the Panam Sports Executive
Committee returned in March.
The leaders of sport in the Americas marveled
at the rapid pace of progress being made
after visits to the Athlete Village and National
Stadium.

The visit to Lima also marked the first
Executive Committee meeting of the year.
The two-day meeting was vital to establish
the goals of the organization for not only 2018,
but for the next five years. The Panam Sports
Strategic Plan was created after two intense
days of discussion and deliberation, defining
the mission and values of Americas’ Olympic
Movement for the next five years.
La visita a Lima también marcó la primera
reunión del año del Comité Ejecutivo.
La reunión de dos días fue vital para establecer
los objetivos de la organización no solo para
el 2018, sino también para los próximos cinco
años. El Plan Estratégico de Panam Sports se
creó después de dos intensos días de debate y
deliberación, definiendo la misión y los valores
del Movimiento Olímpico de las Américas para
los próximos cinco años.

With the new mission of the Organization
defined, the leaders of Panam Sports set
off for Bangkok, Thailand for the annual
SportAccord Convention.
The convention was the perfect opportunity for
Panam Sports to proudly present its new brand,
including new logos and a vibrant and modern
visual identity featuring the “Striped Americas”.
President Neven Ilic and Secretary General
Ivar Sisniega met with several sports leaders
from across the globe to ensure more Olympic
qualifying opportunities at the Pan Am
Games while also identifying new commercial
opportunities.
Con la nueva misión de la Organización
definida, los líderes de Panam Sports
partieron a Bangkok, Tailandia para la
Convención anual de SportAccord.
Esta importante reunión internacional fue la
oportunidad perfecta para que Panam Sports
presentara con orgullo su nueva marca, que
incluye nuevos logotipos y una identidad visual
vibrante y moderna con “Las Líneas de las
Américas”.

EN RESUMEN

As one of the largest qualification events
to the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, the
Cochabamba 2018 South American Games
were filled with high-stakes competition and
thrilling performances by athletes from 14
countries.
Each of the 14 nations that competed in Bolivia
took home medals, while athletes from 17
sports were able to secure qualification to the
region’s largest multisport event next July in the
Peruvian capital. Cochabamba 2018 was one
of the largest stops along the Panam Path as
athletes continue their journey to Lima 2019.
Como uno de los eventos de clasificación más
grandes de los Juegos Panamericanos de Lima
2019, los Juegos Sudamericanos Cochabamba
2018 se transformaron en una competencia de
alto nivel con emocionantes actuaciones de
atletas de 14 países.
Cada una de las naciones que compitieron en
Bolivia se llevó a casa medallas, mientras que
los atletas de 17 deportes pudieron obtener
la clasificación para el evento multideportivo
más grande de la región en julio próximo en la
capital peruana. Cochabamba 2018 fue una de

HISTORIC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE IN THE
CARIBBEAN
For the first time in history, the leaders of
Americas’ Olympic Movement flew to the
beautiful island of Grenada to conduct the first
Panam Sports Executive Committee ever held
in the Caribbean. With more countries residing
in the Caribbean than any other region of the
Panam Sports family, the Organization believes
it is vital to allow these nations to host and
meet with the leaders of sport in the Americas.
Panam Sports will continue to seek out new

The month of June featured the inauguration of
two state-of-the-art Olympic headquarters for
the National Olympic Committees of Grenada
and Colombia. Panam Sports President Neven
Ilic attended the Opening Ceremony of each
of the facilities that were financed in part by
Panam Sports and the Infrastructure Program.
Panam Sports is proud to help its members
improve their presence in their countries in
order to further the development of sport
throughout the continent.

BARRANQUILLA 2018 CENTRAL AMERICAN
AND CARIBBEAN GAMES
The largest single qualification event for the
Lima 2019 Pan American Games took place
in the Happy City of Barranquilla, Colombia.
Thirty-one of Panam Sports 41 member nations
sent more than 5,000 athletes to compete
at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean
Games on the Colombian coast and try to
qualify to the Pan Am Games in 23 sports and
disciplines. The host country Colombia finished
atop the medal table, fueled by the incredible
atmosphere provided by the local fans.

El mayor evento de clasificación individual
para los Juegos Panamericanos de Lima 2019
tuvo lugar en la “ciudad feliz” de Barranquilla,
Colombia. Treinta y uno de los 41 países
miembros de Panam Sports enviaron a más
de 5,000 atletas a competir en los Juegos
Centroamericanos y del Caribe 2018 en la
costa colombiana, con el objetivo de clasificar
a los Juegos Panamericanos en 23 deportes
y disciplinas. El país anfitrión, Colombia, fue el
ganador de la justa al terminar la competencia
con más medallas que cualquier otro país,

CAYMAN ISLANDS ACCOMPLISHES LONGTIME
DREAM OF ITS OWN OLYMPIC HOUSE
Panam Spots helped the sport leaders and
athletes of the Cayman Islands achieve their
longtime dream of having their own Olympic
House. This was accomplished thanks to
400,000 USD provided by Panam Sports
through its Olympic Solidarity Programs,
separated into 200,000 USD from the
Infrastructure Program and 200,000 USD from
the Olympamerica Program. The venue is more
than 190 square meters, with five offices, a
training area, offices for the President, Secretary
Genera and Vice President, an area which
displays the rich history of the NOC, a small
library, as well as a gift shop that will support
athletes with the money earned from sales.
ISLAS CAIMÁN CUMPLE EL SUEÑO DE SU
PRIMERA CASA OLÍMPICA
Con un aporte de 400 mil dólares totales,
divididos en 200 mil del programa
Olympamérica y 200 mil del Programa
Infraestructura, Panam Sports ayudó a hacer
realidad el anhelado sueño de deportistas y
dirigentes de Islas Caimán de poder contar con
una nueva Casa Olímpica. La obra es de 190
metros cuadrados, cuenta con 5 oficinas, área
de entrenamientos, oficina para el Presidente,
Secretario General y VicePresidente, una zona
donde se muestra la historia del CON, una
pequeña biblioteca y también un área de venta
de productos, donde esperan lograr recursos
para sus deportistas.

Leaders of the 41 National Olympic Committees
of the Panam Sports family came together
for three days to learn about the progress of
the Organization under its new leadership
and the path towards future success. Several
topics were discussed during this meeting,
among them, the progress of Lima 2019, the
reports of the President and the Secretary
General, the Strategic Plan, and as an innovative
element, the presentations of all the leaders
of of the regions that make up the American
continent. In addition, the Junior Pan American
Games were analyzed and approved, the
representatives of the ANOC Executive
Committee were elected for the next 4 years
and there were important recognitions to
members of this great organization.

Los líderes de los 41 Comités Olímpicos
Nacionales de la familia perteneciente a Panam
Sports se reunieron durante tres días en la
capital peruana, para conocer el progreso de

temas tratados dutante esta cita, entre ellos,
los avanzes de Lima 2019, los informes del
Presidente y del Secretario General, el Plan

TO SPORT
To say that Steve Stoute and Michael Fennell
have dedicated their lives to sport would be a
vast understatement. The two sportsmen from
the Caribbean have each presided over their
respective National Olympic Committees for
more than 20 years, bringing the athletes of
Barbados and Jamaica to new heights.
Panam Sports President, Neven Ilic, along with
the Panam Sports Executive Board, recognized
Steve Stoute and Michael Fennell with the
Panam Sports Award at the 2018 General
Assembly in Lima, in honor of their inspiring
dedication and commitment to the Olympic

ANOC ELECTIONS
In a completely transparent and open election,
Camilo Perez (PAR), Tricia Smith (CAN) and
Keith Joseph (SVG) were elected as Americas’
representatives to the Association of National
Olympic Committees Executive Council. There
were three exhilarating rounds of voting with
real-time results during the Panam Sports
General Assembly in Lima.
The three elected members join Panam Sports’
top authority, Neven Ilic, on the Council, as well
as Secretary General of the NOC of Grenada,
Veda Bruno Víctor, and the President of the
Dominican Republic NOC, Luis Mejia, who were
both appointed by President Ilic, giving the
Americas six sport leaders on the Council.

En una elección completamente transparente
y abierta, Camilo Pérez (PAR), Tricia Smith
(CAN) y Keith Joseph (SVG) fueron elegidos
como representantes de las Américas en el
Comité Ejecutivo de la Asociación de Comités
Olímpicos Nacionales (ACNO). Hubo tres rondas
emocionantes de votación con resultados en
tiempo real durante la Asamblea General de
Panam Sports en Lima.
Completan la lista de los 6 nuevos miembros del
Comité Ejecutivo de ACNO, Neven Ilic en calidad
de máxima autoridad de Panam Sports, quien a
su vez designó a la Secretaria General del CON
de Granada, Veda Bruno Víctor y al Presidente
del COLIMDO, Luis Mejía, como los últimos
dos miembros de la organización de Comités
Olímpicos Nacionales.

BUENOS AIRES 2018 SURPASSED ALL
EXPECTATIONS
The Youth Olympic Games of Buenos Aires
2018 received only positive reviews. More than
4,000 athletes shined during the two weeks
of extremely exciting competitions where
sport, culture, brotherhood, sisterhood and
friendship came together to make this a truly
unforgettable sports celebration and the best
Youth Olympics to date. The attendance at the
Opening and Closing Ceremonies and four
sports venues for the 32 sports exceeded 1
million spectators.
When it came time to climb to the top of the
podium, China, Russia and Japan were the
top performers in terms of medals won. When
it came to the Americas, the host country of
Argentina performed exceptionally well with
a total of 26 medals, 11 of which were gold.
Colombia finished second in the continent. The
usual great powerhouses such as the United
States, Canada and Jamaica did not perform
well due to the fact they did not send their best
young athletes to the Games.
BUENOS AIRES 2018 SUPERÓ TODAS LAS
EXPECTATIVAS
El balance de los Juegos Olímpicos de la
Juventud Buenos Aires 2018 es, a todas
luces, sumamente positivo. Más de 4.000
deportistas vibraron durante dos semanas de
una competencia muy entretenida, donde
el deporte, la cultura, el compañerismo y la
amistad se unieron para hacer de esta una
fiesta inolvidable y por lejos la mejor versión
hasta ahora, de este evento juvenil. Inéditas
ceremonias de apertura y clausura, más de
1 millón de espectadores en los 4 parques
deportivos dispuestos para el evento y sus
32 deportes.
Rusia, China y Japón fueron quienes se
subieron al podio final en cuanto a medallas.
De las Américas, tuvieron una muy destacada
participación, el país anfitrión, Argentina que
logró un total de 26 preseas, 11 de ellas de oro,
y Colombia. Las grandes potencias en tanto,
no tuvieron una buena ubicación producto a
que no llevaron a sus mejores figuras a esta
competencia. Tales fue el caso de Estados
Unidos, Jamaica y Canadá.

II ATHLETE FORUM OF THE AMERICAS
The largest and most engaging Athlete Forum
ever held by Panam Sports, with support and
funding from Olympic Solidarity, gave athlete
leaders of the Americas the opportunity
to shape the future of the continental
organization and its premier event, the Pan
American Games.
The second Panam Sports Athlete Forum
in Miami brought together more than 70
athletes to collaborate and commit to make
the athlete voice louder throughout the
Olympic Committees of the Americas.

El Foro de Atletas más grande y atractivo
jamás realizado por Panam Sports se realizó
en Miami Estados Unidos este 2018 gracias
al apoyo y el financiamiento de Solidaridad

trabajar para conocer las necesidades y
realidades de los países miembros y a su

With the attendance of Panam Sports
President, Neven Ilic, and the CACSO Executive
Committee - led by their President Steve
Stoute - the top sport authorities in Panama
celebrated the opening of the new offices
of the Panamanian Olympic Committee. A
job that took over eight months to complete,
highlighted by its spectacular features,
its interesting mural design and graphics
describing Panama’s rich sporting history as
well as the history of the Olympic Movement,
a museum and even a store selling gear
sponsored by the Panama NOC.

Con la presencia del Presidente de Panam
Sports, Neven Ilic, las máximas autoridades
del deporte de Panamá y el Comité Ejecutivo
de ODECABE, liderado por su presidente
Steve Stoute se desarrolló la ceremonia de
inauguración de la nueva oficina del Comité
Olímpico Panameño. La obra que demoró más
de ocho meses en estar terminada, destaca
por sus espectaculares dependencias, sus
imponentes gráficas y diseños en sus murallas

ANOC GENERALASSEMBLY IN TOKYO
Presidents and Secretaries General of Panam
Sports’ 41 member countries traveled across the
globe to Tokyo for ANOC’s XIII General Assembly
the last week of November.
Our organization not only participated in
the National Olympic Committee meeting
composed of 206 countries, but we also took
the opportunity to hold the last Executive
Committee Meeting of the year, to attend the
ANOC Awards Gala and to sign an agreement
with Tachihi Holdings worth 1.2 million dollars.
With this money, Panam Sports will be able
to put together a Training Camp for over 300
athletes from the Americas who have qualified to
the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. These athletes
will be able to arrive in Japan weeks before their
competitions to train and prepare in the best
way possible in the city of Tachikawa, only 35
minutes from Tokyo.
ASAMBLEA GENERALACNO TOKIO 2018
Durante la última semana de noviembre viajaron
hasta Tokio, Japón los Presidentes y Secretarios
Generales de los 41 países miembros de Panam
Sports para participar de la XIII Asamblea General
de ACNO.
Nuestra Organización además de participar en la
reunión de los 206 Comités Olímpicos Nacionales,
aprovechó la oportunidad para realizar el último
Comité Ejecutivo del año, de asistir a los ANOC
AWARDS 2018 y de firmar un importante acuerdo
con Tachihi Holdings, que representa una ayuda
de más de 1,2 millones de dólares para Panam
Sports, para la realización de un Campamento
de más de 300 deportistas de las Américas, que
hayan clasificado a los Juegos Olímpicos. Estos
atletas podrán llegar semanas antes a Japón para
entrenar y preparase de la mejor forma en la
ciudad de Tachikawa a solo 35 minutos de Tokio.

JAPAN AND THE AMERICAS UNITE THROUGH
SPORT
Panam Sports and Tachihi Holdings Co., Ltd.
signed an important collaboration agreement
with the Japanese city of Tachikawa and its
Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the
realization of a Training Camp that will benefit
more than 300 athletes from the Americas prior
to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The main objective of this camp is to allow more
than 300 athletes from the Americas who have
qualified to the Olympics to train and prepare
in Japan before the Opening Ceremony of the
most important multisport event in the world.
The top athletes of the Americas will be able to
acclimate to the conditions of the Olympic host
city as they train and prepare for several days
in advance of their Olympic competitions. The
athletes will also learn and share experiences
with athletes of Japan as well as the citizens of
Tachikawa.
The signing of the agreement took place in the
same sports complex where the camp will be
held, with the leaders of Panam Sports, the Mayor
of Tachikawa, Shouhei Shimizu, the President
of the Tachikawa Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, Koji Sato and the President of Tachihi
Holdings, Masamichi Murayama.

Las autoridades de Panam Sports y de Tachihi
Holdings Co., Ltd. firmaron un importante
acuerdo de colaboración con la ciudad nipona
Tachikawa y su Cámara de Comercio e Industria
para la realización de un Campamento de
entrenamiento que beneficiará a más de 300
deportistas de las Américas previo a los Juegos
Olímpicos de Tokio 2020.
El objetivo principal de este campamento es que
atletas de nuestro continente clasificados a la
cita olímpica, puedan entrenar y prepararse en
Japón días previos al evento multideportivo más
importante del mundo. Así podrán aclimatarse
con hartos días de anticipación a la competencia
olímpica y compartir con los deportistas y
ciudadanos japoneses de la ciudad de Tachikawa.
La firma se realizó en el mismo complejo
deportivo donde se hará el campamento y
contó, además de las autoridades de Panam
Sports, con la presencia del Alcalde de la ciudad
de Tachikawa, Shouhei Shimizu, el Presidente de
la Cámara de Comercio e Industria de Tachikawa,
Koji Sato y el Presidente de Tachihi Holdings,
Masamichi Murayama.

Panam Sports begins a multi-year
partnership with Atos, a global leader in
digital transformation, establishing Atos as the
Exclusive IT Provider of Panam Sports and the
Pan American Games.
As the Official IT Partner, Atos will provide its
extensive expertise in Games Management
Systems accrued from 17 years as the
Worldwide IT Partner of the Olympic Games.
Atos has been instrumental in presenting the
past five editions of the Pan American Games,
allowing the company to provide tailor-made
solutions and innovations to the Lima 2019 Pan
American Games and the Santiago 2023 Pan
American Games.

FIRST GENDER EQUALITY MEETING
Olympic leaders from 10 countries gathered at
the Panam Sports offices in Miami for a two-
day workshop focused on promoting equitable
representation between men and women in
the Americas. The gender equality meeting
that was organized by Silvia Gonzalez, Secretary
General of the NOC of Costa Rica and President
of the Women in Sports Commission of Panam
Sports, was a success, and several conclusions
were drawn on a roadmap for the next few
years regarding this important theme.

GÉNERO
Líderes olímpicos de 10 países se reunieron en
las oficinas de Panam Sports en Miami para
un taller de dos días enfocado en promover
la representación equitativa entre hombres
y mujeres en las Américas. La reunión sobre
igualdad de género que fue organizada por Silvia
González, Secretaria General del CON de Costa
Rica y Presidenta de la Comisión de Mujeres en
el Deporte de Panam Sports, fue todo un éxito, y
varias fueron las conclusiones que determinaron
una hoja de ruta para los próximos años en
cuanto a este importante tema.

Over the last three years, our Organization
has gone through a period of transition and
revitalization and is more poised than ever
to lead sport in the Americas to a successful
future. But these changes have not been
made single-handedly.
The opinions and needs of our primary
stakeholders have been our top priority
while working to establish a roadmap for the
Organization that will cement Panam Sports
not only as a regional leader of sport, but also
as a global example. From the great athletes
of the Americas to our 41 National Olympic
Committees, Panam Sports aims to ensure
world-class services for all of our stakeholders.
Since the first NOC Workshop in Washington,
D.C. in 2015, we have listened to the views and
priorities of each of our members in order to
develop a comprehensive plan for the future
of the Pan American Games and sport in
the Americas. After more than two years of
consultation and collaboration, the Panam
Sports Strategic Plan was born.
The Strategic Plan was presented and adopted
by the Executive Committee in March, before
receiving the full support of the Panam Sports
family at the Annual General Assembly held
in Lima, Peru in September. It establishes
Americas’ athletes as the heart of our
Organization, and captures the essence of who
we are and all we aspire to be - a true leader of
sport, innovation, diversity and excellence.
The changes encouraged by the Strategic Plan
have already begun to manifest themselves
in the operations and development of Panam
Sports throughout 2018, as we have made
important changes in our branding and
communications and have started to plan for
exciting new events that will contribute to the
development of sports in the Americas.
We have traveled extensively throughout the
continent to meet with leaders of each of
our NOCs, added experienced talent to our
growing staff to increase our professional
capacities, branded our headquarters in Mexico
City to provide a modern feel to our modern
Organization and established new offices in
Miami, United States to increase our market
reach and our accessibility to our Member
nations.
I’d like to personally thank everyone who
has given their time and energy to make
Panam Sports a great sports organization as
we seek the continued success of our Pan
American Games and Americas’ Olympic
Movement. The hard work and devotion of our
incredible Executive Committee Members,
NOC authorities, athlete leaders and staff has
propelled our Organization to new heights and
will continue to do so as we look towards the
Lima 2019 Pan American Games and all of our
future events.

En los últimos tres años, nuestra
Organización ha pasado por un periodo
de transición y revitalización y está más
preparada que nunca para llevar el deporte
en las Américas a un futuro exitoso. Pero
estos cambios no se han hecho por sí mismos.
Las opiniones y necesidades de nuestros stake
holders han sido nuestra prioridad mientras
trabajamos para establecer una guía para la
Organización que consolidará a Panam Sports
no solo como un líder regional del deporte, sino
también como un ejemplo global. Desde los
grandes atletas de las Américas hasta nuestros
41 Comités Olímpicos Nacionales, Panam Sports
tiene como objetivo garantizar servicios de
clase mundial para todos nuestros socios.
Desde el primer Taller de CONs en Washington,
DC, en 2015, hemos escuchado los puntos de
vista y las prioridades de cada uno de nuestros
miembros para desarrollar un plan integral para
el futuro de los Juegos Panamericanos y el
deporte en las Américas. Después de más de
dos años de consulta y colaboración, nació el
Plan Estratégico de Panam Sports.
El Comité Ejecutivo presentó y adoptó el
Plan Estratégico en marzo, antes de recibir
el apoyo total de la familia de Panam Sports
en la Asamblea General Anual celebrada en
Lima, Perú, en septiembre. Este plan establece
a los atletas de América como el corazón de
nuestra Organización, y captura la esencia de
lo que somos y todo lo que aspiramos a ser: un
verdadero líder del deporte, la innovación, la
diversidad y la excelencia.
Los cambios alentados por el Plan Estratégico
ya comenzaron a manifestarse en las
operaciones y el desarrollo de Panam Sports
a lo largo del 2018, ya que hemos realizado
cambios importantes en nuestra marca y
comunicaciones, y hemos comenzado a
planificar nuevos y emocionantes eventos que
contribuirán al desarrollo de los deportes en las
Américas.

Panam Sports creates strategic plan for the
future.
In order to ensure the continued success
of the Pan American Games, and the
continued growth of the Pan American Sports
Organization, the Panam Sports Executive
Committee met in March to create the Strategic
Plan. With consultation from LBB Strategies, the
objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan will
push the organization and sport in the Americas
to new heights over the next five years.

As the signature event of Panam Sports - and
the largest multi-sport event of the Americas
- the Pan American Games must be held to
the highest standards to ensure success not
only for the Host City and Nation, but also
for Americas’ Olympic Movement. Before
2018, no document existed that provided a
roadmap and guidelines to hosting such an
important event.
Panam Sports’ Head of Operations, Ana Paula
Gonzalez, took on the task of creating the
guidelines for the Pan Am Games as part of the
MEMOS Masters program with the support of
Panam Sports leadership and Games Expert
Paola Mora. After months of hard work and
collaboration with sport leaders across the
Americas and the world, the Pan American
Games Handbook was born. Now, all future
Host Cities and Organizing Committees will
have a step-by-step guide to delivering the top
sporting event of the continent and maximizing
the success of Americas’ athletes.

The commission has defined a working model
to promote sports and Olympic education in
each of the NOCs of Panam Sports. A rotating
model of experts that allows the NOCs and
NOAs to acquire knowledge in different areas.
By 2019, the commission will seek to promote
a basic academic model as an educational
program at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

La comisión ha logrado definir un primer
modelo de trabajo para impulsar la educación
deportiva y olímpica en cada uno de los CONs
miembros de Panam Sports. Un modelo rotativo
de expertos que le permite a los CONs y AON
adquirir conocimiento en diferentes áreas. Para
2019, la comisión buscará impulsar un modelo
académico básico como programa educativo
en los Juegos Panamericanos Lima 2019.

Created a proposal to give athletes better
development opportunities and to have greater
representation in the sports organization
of the continent. This year closes with all of
Panam Sports’ Commissions having an athlete
representative and with the recommendation
that each NOC require an athlete on their
Executive Committee.
The Athlete Forum was successfully held in
October, strengthening the network of athletes
throughout the continent and creating a list of
recommendations for Panam Sports in relation
to the needs of the region’s athletes.

Como comisión se han propuesto darle
mejores oportunidades de desarrollo a los
atletas y tener mayor representación en las
estructuras del deporte en el continente. El
2018 cierra con todas las comisiones de Panam
Sports con representación de atletas y con un
diagnóstico claro sobre los CONs que requieren
acompañamiento para integrar atletas a sus
Comités Ejecutivos.
Con éxito se realizó el foro de atletas en
octubre que dio como principales resultados
el fortalecimiento de una red de atletas del
continente y una línea de recomendaciones
para Panam Sports en relación a las necesidades
de los atletas del continente.
COACHING AND EDUCATION

The model that has defined the Coaching
and Education Commission for trainers in the
Americas is connected to the Training Camps
of prioritized sports disciplines. The Training
Camps will be used to give different training
courses to the highest-level coaches of the
continent. Before each camp, the coaches
will be given guidelines so that they all arrive
equally prepared.

El modelo que ha definido la comisión para la
educación y capacitación de entrenadores en el
continente está conectado a los campamentos
de entrenamiento de disciplinas deportivas
prioritarias. Se aprovechará la convocatoria a

podamos impartir diferentes cursos de
formación a los entrenadores de más alto nivel
del continente. Antes de cada campamento se
le dará a los entrenadores unas guías para que
lleguen bajo el mismo nivel de preparación.

Although the Commission did not meet in
2018, the primary objective is to review the
plans and strategies for the Santiago 2023 Pan

and guarantees to be signed. The Commission
will follow up on the compliance of all the bid
aspects.

SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

In coordination with Panam Sports
Management, the Commission has prioritized
two groups of sports disciplines (12 disciplines
and 15 disciplines, respectively) for the
development of Training Camps. Additionally,
a training center in Tokyo has been secured
for the sports delegations of the Americas to
prepare for the Olympic Games in 2020.

The Commission has complied with the budget
approvals and financial statements of the
organization. In addition, it has generated the
relevant investment recommendations with
Credit Suisse and the acquisition of insurance
policies for the organization and its operations.

The Commission has reviewed and updated
the rules of the Pan American Games with
emphasis on having simpler and more concrete

ETHICS
President: Royston La Hee (GRN)
The Commission did not meet in 2018, but
serves to uphold the Code of Ethics, based
upon the values and principles stated in the
Olympic Charter. It investigates complaints
raised in relation to the violation of such ethical
principles, including breaches of the Code of
Ethics and, if necessary, proposes sanctions to
the Panam Sports Executive Board.

The Commission’s main recommendation to
Panam Sports is to strengthen the relevance
and positioning of the brand and the
organization through different strategies (digital,
communications, activations and events).

The Commission has provided Lima 2019 with
all the rules and guidelines associated with
medical procedures and doping control. They
have worked with COPAL so that they can be
implemented using the best standards.

WOMEN IN SPORT
President: Silvia González-Pinto (CRC)
Under the direction of the President of
the Commission, the first Women in Sport
meeting was held with the purpose of creating,
encouraging, strengthening and coordinating
actions on gender equality throughout the
continent. We started with 10 NOCs (five
Spanish-speaking and five English-speaking) to
be the pioneers of the region. At the end of the
meeting each one proposed a project for their
respective countries.

Bajo la dirección de la presidenta de la comisión,
se realizó el primer encuentro de mujer y
deporte. Este encuentro tuvo el propósito de
crear, incentivar, fortalecer y coordinar acciones
en igualdad de género en el continente.
Empezamos con 10 CONs (cinco de habla
hispana y cinco de habla inglesa) para que sean
los pioneros de la región. Al cierre del encuentro
cada uno propuso un proyecto para su país en
este campo.

NEW EVENTS
President: Eduardo Palomo (ESA)
As recommended by the Commission, Panam
Sports will develop four new events. The Junior
Pan American Games for athletes aged 18 to
23 that will represent the generation of future
stars of the continent. The Beach Games with
the idea of celebrating our continent’s beaches.
Youth Pan American Games which will be part
of the system of qualifications for the Youth
Olympic Games. Finally, a Gala to award the
best achievements in sport throughout the
region.

Juegos Panamericanos Junior para edades entre

del sistema de clasificación a Juegos Olímpicos

The Commission’s recommendation to Panam
Sports has prompted the organization to do
everything in its power to work alongside
the NOCs who have not yet requested aid.
Additionally, the IOC only allows resources when
the respective NOC has given a detailed report
on the resources previously received.

Panam Sports, bajo recomendación de la
comisión, está haciendo todo lo posible por
trabajar en conjunto con los CONs que no
han solicitado sus recursos. Adicionalmente,
está alineado con el COI con respecto al
programa de actividades de los CONs y sólo
otorga recursos cuando se ha recibido el
reporte detallado de los recursos enviados con
anterioridad.

The Technical Commission had a busy year
and most of the time was spent dealing with
Lima 2019 issues. Consideration was also given
to redefining the principal purpose of the
Commission and the new events that were
being proposed and considered by Panam
Sports. Another very important matter that the
Commission dealt with was the review of the
Pan American Games Regulations and this was
done and submitted to the Legal Commission
and subsequently approved by the Executive
Committee.
There are several challenges facing the Lima
2019 Games, and continued collaboration
with COPAL will be required until the Opening
Ceremony of the Games. At the same time,
attention will be given to the new events being
considered, including the Pan American Youth
Games, the Pan American Junior Games, the
Pan American Beach Games and the Santiago
2023 Pan American Games.

La Comisión Técnica ha tenido un año
increíblemente arduo y más que nada
han estado pendientes de Lima 2019 y sus
necesidades. También se le dio consideración
a definir el propósito principal de la Comisión y
de los nuevos eventos que han sido propuestos
y considerados por Panam Sports. Otro tema
importante del que se ha ocupado la comisión
ha sido la revisión de las Reglas de Los Juegos
Panamericanos y esto ha sido presentado a la
Comisión Legal, las Reglas revisadas han sido
aprobadas por el Comité Ejecutivo.
Hay varios retos que se vienen con los Juegos
de Lima 2019, y aquellos requieren la atención
continua con el Comité Organizador (COPAL)
de ahora hasta la inauguración de los Juegos.
Asimismo, se deberá dar atención también
a los requerimientos de los nuevos eventos
como Los Juegos Panamericanos de la
Juventud, los Juegos Panamericanos Junior, los
Juegos Panamericanos de Playa, y los Juegos
Panamericanos de Santiago 2023.

PANAM SPORTS AND OLYMPIC SOLIDARITY,
DEVELOPING SPORT IN THE AMERICAS
TOGETHER
At the core of Panam Sports’ Strategic Plan
lies the National Olympic Committees and its
athletes. Thanks to Olympic Solidarity, we are
now in a position where we have interesting
programs with the prime objective of
developing and promoting sport throughout
the Americas.
Each country has the possibility of requesting
an annual amount of 120,000 USD for the
Preparation of Athletes Program and 200,000
USD every four years for the Infrastructure
Program and an additional 200,000 USD for the
Olympamerica Program.
There have been several member countries
who have benefited from this help. Thanks
to Panam Sports’ continuous support, these
countries have been able to achieve their
longtime dream of assisting their athletes,
building their Olympic Committee offices,
building or improving their sports venues, or
building fields, gyms or other sport facilities.
We expect various projects that are still in
the works to be completed and inaugurated
throughout 2019.

Dentro de los 4 pilares del Plan Estratégico de
Panam Sports, está por supuesto los Comités
Olímpicos Nacionales y sus atletas. Para esto
nuestra organización gracias al aporte de
Solidaridad Olímpica posee interesantes
programas de ayuda con el objetivo de
desarrollar y promover el deporte en todos los
países del continente.
Cada país cuenta con la posibilidad de solicitar
a Panam Sports anualmente U$120.000 para
el programa de Preparación de Atletas, y
U$200.000 cada cuatro años para el Programa
de Infraestructura, y U$200.000 para el
Programa Olympamerica.
Varios han sido los países miembros que
han aprovechado esta ayuda y han podido
cumplir con sus sueños de poder ayudar a sus
deportistas, de poder edificar sus oficinas del
Comité Olímpico, de arreglar o mejorar sus
instalaciones deportivas o de construir canchas,
gimnasios o recintos deportivos gracias a
los aportes de Panam Sports. Para este 2019
se esperan varias inauguraciones más, de
proyectos que están en plena construcción.

PANAM SPORTS INVESTS NEARLY $7
MILLION IN SPORTS DEVELOPMENT
Since Neven Ilic assumed the Presidency of
Panam Sports in 2017, he has encouraged
the 41 National Olympic Committees of the
Americas to take advantage of the different
development incentives offered by the
Organization, including the Olympamerica
and Infrastructure Programs. Thanks to the
funds available through these Programs,
several countries within the Panam
Sports family have realized the dream of
opening new Olympic headquarters, sport
courts, fields and athletic tracks, or simply
remodeling the existing sport facilities to
meet modern standards.
Panam Sports is contributing nearly
$7,000,000 USD to the following projects

DE PANAM SPORTS
The Panam Sports Training Camps have
evolved to be one of the star products of our
organization.
Throughout 2018, we realized a total of eight
Training Camps with the objective of gathering
a diverse group of athletes from different
countries together with world-class coaches.
These athletes get the assistance they need,
share their experiences with one another and
have the opportunity to meet international
athletes - a much needed experience for the
development of their sporting career.
With Boxing in Mexico, Badminton in
Guatemala, Archery in Colombia, Swimming in
Miami, Tennis in Brazil, Artistic Gymnastics, and
Rhythmic Gymnastics, Taekwondo and Triathlon
in Dominican Republic, athletes of the Americas
improved in eight sports through the Training
Camp program.
The success rate was incredible. Over 250
athletes from the Americas were able to benefit
from these Camps led by Panam Sports’ Sports
Director, Ricardo Probert.
We plan on continuing these in 2019 with more
sports and more countries as hosts and with
the objective of preparing our athletes as best
we can for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games
and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. We have
already arranged a cooperative agreement
with the Japanese company Tachihi Holdings
to develop a massive Training Camp in the city
of Tachikawa prior to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic
Games.
Los Campamentos Panam Sports se han
transformado en uno de los productos
estrellas de nuestra organización.
Durante el 2018 se organizaron en total 8
campamentos de entrenamiento con el objetivo
de reunir a diversos deportistas de distintos
países con técnicos de nivel mundial, para que
puedan ayudarlos a mejorar su rendimientos, a
compartir experiencias y lograr tener aquel roce
internacional tan necesario para el desarrollo de
sus carreras deportivas.
Boxeo en México, Bádminton en Guatemala,
Tiro con Arco en Colombia, Natación en Miami,
Tenis en Brasil, y Gimnasia Artística y Rítmica,
Taekwondo y Triatlón en República Dominicana,
fueron los 8 deportes y destinos donde se
desarrollaron los campamentos Panam Sports.
El éxito fue total. Más de 250 deportistas de l
as Américas se vieron beneficiados con estos
campamentos liderados por el Director del Área
Técnica de Panam Sports, Ricardo Probert.
Para el 2019 continuarán con más deportes
y otros países como sede, con el objetivo
de preparar de la mejor forma a nuestros
deportistas para los Juegos Panamericanos de
Lima 2019. Y para el 2020, ya se firmó un acuerdo
con la compañía japonesa Tachihi Holdings para
la realización de un masivo campamento previo
a los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio en la ciudad de
Tachikawa.

Over the course of the year, we launched

brand to the next level, while maintaining the
Pan American Games and Americas’ athletes

The leaders of Americas’ National Olympic
Committees continue to improve and help
develop sport in their countries and the region.
There were not many changes in the top
positions of the 41 NOCs of the Panam Sports
family, with only one new President elected to
lead the Cuban Olympic Committee and four
new Secretaries General chosen to help lead
the Olympic Committees of Brazil, Canada,
Ecuador and the United States.

MEMBERS
Two more renowned and experienced
sport leaders from the Americas joined the
impressive list of regional Members of the
International Olympic Committee in 2018.
Paraguay Olympic Committee President
Camilo Pérez was elected as a Member at
the IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Andrew Parsons of Brazil, who leads the
International Paralympic Committee, also
became an IOC Member at the Session
in Buenos Aires as the leader of the
Paralympic Movement.

President Neven Ilic and the Executive
Committee’s wishes finally came true when
their plans were approved at the Panam
Sports General Assembly held in September
in the city of Lima - plans for The Junior Pan
American Games of 2021.
Our main priority is to have a continental-level
championship for the young athletes who have
reached the end of their career competing in
Youth categories and are now transitioning
into the Adult categories. For many athletes,
this is one of the toughest times of their career.
Between University and the lack of international
high-level competitions, these athletes face an
extremely discouraging time. This is why Panam
Sports has made sure to have the 1st Junior Pan
American Games on the agenda for 2021.
Because these will be the first Games, the
General Assembly has decided that for this
time only, the Executive Committee will be the
one to elect the Host City from the submitted
proposals from candidate cities.
The motivation behind participating at these
Games will be that each and every sport will be

El gran anhelo del Presidente Neven Ilic
y su Comité Ejecutivo finalmente tuvo su
aprobación en la Asamblea General de Panam
Sports realizada en Septiembre en la ciudad
de Lima: Los Juegos Panamericanos Junior
2021.
El objetivo principal es poder tener una
competencia de nivel continental que pueda
darle continuidad a aquellos deportistas que
finalizan su categoría juvenil e inician su etapa
de adultos. Para muchos, uno de los procesos
más difíciles en la carrera de los atletas y donde
más deserciones se viven en el deporte. Los
estudios universitarios, la falta de competencias
internacionales por el alto nivel de figuras de
mayor experiencia, llevan a este grupo de
jóvenes a la desmotivación. Es por eso que
Panam Sports tiene ya en agenda los I Juegos
Panamericanos Junior a realizarse en el año 2021.
Por ser estos los primeros Juegos, la Asamblea
General acordó que sólo por esta vez, sea el
Comité Ejecutivo quien elija entre las ciudades
candidatas.
La gran motivación de los jóvenes que
participen es que los ganadores de cada una de
los deportes clasificarán automáticamente para
los Juegos Panamericanos de Santiago 2023.

There are less than six months left for
the Opening Ceremony of the greatest
multisport event of the continent: the Lima
2019 Pan American Games. We’re now on
the final stretch and these will be the most
important months for making sure that
everything goes as planned.
This was undoubtedly a year of hard work. There
was no rest for COPAL nor Panam Sports, both
of which are fully devoted to keep moving
forward at full speed. This is why the Athlete
Village and other sport venues in Lima have
seen significant progress as the Opening
Ceremony is just months away.
The Peruvian people are more motivated than
ever, with a Volunteer registration record and
several training courses already in place. The
Operations team is working 24/7 and Panam
Sports’ authorities as well as COPAL and the
Peruvian Government are all confident that
these Games will be a huge success.
Queda menos de seis meses para que se de
inicio al evento deportivo más importante
del Continente: Los Juegos Panamericanos
de Lima 2019. Entramos en la recta final, a los
meses más importantes para que todo resulte
como se ha planificado.
El 2018 sin dudas, fue un año de arduo trabajo,
sin descanso, donde tanto COPAL como Panam
Sports se comprometieron a avanzar sin pausa.
Fue así como la Villa de Atletas y las Sedes
Deportivas tuvieron un considerable progreso,
y en los próximos meses ya comenzarán las
inauguraciones de estas.
La motivación del pueblo peruano está al tope,
con un récord de Voluntarios inscritos y con
varios cursos de capacitación en marcha. Las
diferentes áreas en cuanto a la operación misma
de los Juegos están trabajando 24/7 y tanto las
autoridades de Panam Sports, de COPAL y del
Estado Peruano, confían plenamente en que
estos Juegos serán todo un éxito.
