The Kush Groove brand was established in 2011 by co-founders Michael Pires and Marcus Johnson-Smith, with a mission to create a lifestyle brand inspired by cannabis culture and later transition into the legal cannabis market. Origin Humble beginnings: Pires and Johnson-Smith, both graduates of Northeastern University, started Kush Groove by selling their own branded streetwear, including t-shirts and hats, out of the trunks of their cars at local cannabis festivals like the Boston Freedom Rally and Extravaganja.
