How do fossils apply to the ESA? And how can organisms be preserved after death, except in the case of museum specimens? From now on, please focus on explaining the ideas of our authors in your own words, rather than trying to sound "academic" or overly-complicated. -- For next time, focus on answering the specific questions that are asked in the assignment. Rather than including information that appears to be from external sources, such as the genetically-oriented definition of evolution--which you NEED to cite to avoid committing plagiarism--this assignment should focus on the 3 Barrow rationales and relevant links from the Kingsland article. Ecologists have long endeavored to improve ecologi-cal literacy. This goal goes beyond informing stu- dents about environmental issues: one must excite their interest in ecological science, regardless of whether or not they intend to pursue the more advanced technical and mathematical education that modern ecology requires (Golley 1998). The challenge is to motivate people to tackle difficult ecological problems. Fifty years ago, G Evelyn Hutchinson (1953) observed that, while students did not hesitate to dive into complicated activities concerned with “electronic amplifiers and with the explosive combustion of hydrocarbons”, they traditionally viewed the majority of complex activities as boring duties. “What we have to do”, Hutchinson wrote, “is to show by example that a very large number of diversified, complicated, and often extremely diffi- cult constructive activities are capable of giving enor- mous pleasure”. The kind of pleasure that Hutchinson was thinking of involved the formulation of theory, discovery, and problem-solving. Repairing the bios- phere and the human societies within it, he believed, ought to be as much fun as repairing the family car. While people today are better informed about environ- mental problems , engaging students in ecological research and conveying what ecology is about to the public is still challenging because of the complexity of the science. I will draw on historical examples to illustrate ways of thinking that are characteristic of an ecological approach to the study of nature. My list is by no means complete. I touch only lightly on the classics of the eco- logical canon, which are discussed elsewhere (Real and Brown 1991; Keller and Golley 2000). Instead, I include some lesser known examples from medical science to highlight different contexts in which thinking ecologi- cally has been important. Students should appreciate that this kind of thinking integrates methods derived from many fields of science an.

Describe neo-evolution. What is it and what are its primary tenets? Provide an example of a technology that is altering or may alter human evolution. What are the potential benefits of this type of technology? What are the potential drawbacks? What are the moral and ethical implications of neo-evolution? Should we continue to pursue this form of technology? Why or why not? Solution oevolutionism , school of anthropology concerned with long-term culture change and with the similar patterns of development that may be seen in unrelated, widely separated cultures. It arose in the mid-20th century, and it addresses the relation between the long-term changes that are characteristic of human culture in general and the short-term, localized social and ecological adjustments that cause specific cultures to differ from one another as they adapt to their own unique environments. Further, neoevolutionists investigate the ways in which different cultures adapt to similar environments and examine the similarities and differences in the long-term historical trajectories of such groups. Because most neoevolutionists are interested in the environmental and technological adjustments of the groups they study, many are identified with the cultural ecological approach to ethnography, with the culture process approach to archaeology, and with the study of early and protohumans in biological anthropology. Neoevolutionary anthropological thought emerged in the 1940s, in the work of the American anthropologists Leslie A. White and Julian H. Steward and others. White hypothesized that cultures became more advanced as they became more efficient at harnessing energy and that technology and social organization were both influential in instigating such efficiencies. Steward, inspired by classifying the native cultures of North and South America, focused on the parallel developments of unrelated groups in similar environments; he discussed evolutionary change in terms of what he called “levels of sociocultural integration†and “multilinear evolution,†terms he used to distinguish neoevolution from earlier, unilineal theories of cultural evolution. In the years since White’s and Steward’s seminal work, neoevolutionary approaches have been variously accepted, challenged, rejected, and revised, and they continue to generate a lively controversy among those interested in long-term cultural and social change. .

This paper articulates new perspectives and integrates existing frameworks on cultural change from the point of view of Twenty-first century anthropology. This paper also identifies the key drivers of cultural change across epochs and investigates the mechanics of cultural change, and our proposed approaches towards cultural change (characterized by Activism which we believe is an adjunct for the globalisation of the field) are intertwined with our core philosophy of Neo-centrism which is intended to be used in a wide variety of domains. The approaches that we adumbrate, bear some resemblance to ‘The Theory of Linguistic Osmosis’ as propounded in an earlier paper, may be referred to as ‘Cultural Osmosis’, and as such are opposed to more simplistic theories of Cultural Change. We refer to this approach as the “Proactive-interactive-symbiotic approach to long-term cultural change”. This eventually leads to what cultural anthropologists refer to Cultural integration in some form with different cultures retaining their own characteristics. The ethics and the pros and cons of activism are also explored, along with their role in ensuring the long-term survivability of civilization, their ability to foster cultural symbiosis, and extirpate other outmoded approaches. This paper also introduces concepts such as Manumittology and Manumittonomics as a part of the Neo-centrist framework, and the ‘Theory of Mindspace’ as well. These approaches are expected to integrate with Applied Anthropology and Developmental Anthropology take them to greater heights.

Explore how multimodal embeddings work with Milvus. We will see how you can explore a popular multimodal model - CLIP - on a popular dataset - CIFAR 10. You use CLIP to create the embeddings of the input data, Milvus to store the embeddings of the multimodal data (sometimes termed “multimodal embeddings”), and we will then explore the embeddings.

The microservices honeymoon is over. When starting a new project or revamping a legacy monolith, teams started looking for alternatives to microservices. The Modular Monolith, or 'Modulith', is an architecture that reaps the benefits of (vertical) functional decoupling without the high costs associated with separate deployments. This talk will delve into the advantages and challenges of this progressive architecture, beginning with exploring the concept of a 'module', its internal structure, public API, and inter-module communication patterns. Supported by spring-modulith, the talk provides practical guidance on addressing the main challenges of a Modultith Architecture: finding and guarding module boundaries, data decoupling, and integration module-testing. You should not miss this talk if you are a software architect or tech lead seeking practical, scalable solutions. About the author With two decades of experience, Victor is a Java Champion working as a trainer for top companies in Europe. Five thousands developers in 120 companies attended his workshops, so he gets to debate every week the challenges that various projects struggle with. In return, Victor summarizes key points from these workshops in conference talks and online meetups for the European Software Crafters, the world’s largest developer community around architecture, refactoring, and testing. Discover how Victor can help you on victorrentea.ro : company training catalog, consultancy and YouTube playlists.
