Mechanical Engineer

Location: California



The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a dynamic, highly individual contributor who will take on mechanical,
optical, and thermal design of complex lighting products. In this position, you will interface with vendors
and cross-functional teams to evaluate and implement designs, materials, and manufacturing for new
product developments and continuous improvement of existing products. You will work closely with
design, quality, reliability, compliance, product, and marketing engineers in a core team environment to
create cutting-edge products and ensure reliability and compliance with industry standards.


Responsibilities:


    Design and develop mechanical systems and solutions for LED based lamps.
    Complete 3-D CAD design.
    Generate engineering documentation such as design reports, BOM's, fabrication and assembly
    drawings, assembly and test procedures, qualification reports, etc..
    Ensure all products comply with regulatory requirements such as UL, CE, and EMC standards.
    Work creatively, efficiently, and quickly with cross functional teams, external vendors, applications,
    marketing and manufacturing groups.
    Prototype assembly and testing for new products, design improvements, and tools/fixtures.
    Provide weekly status on engineering schedule, progress and issues.
    Work to resolve and provide timely information to affected parties of any slippage in schedule.
    Actively contribute to engineering processes, tools, and infrastructure.

Requirements:


    Expert user of SolidWorks.
    Experience with tightly packaged electronics with extreme thermal and mechanical constraints.
    Experience with the unique challenges of high-volume product design.
    Experience with completion of a full cycle of product development from concept to mass
    production.
    Thermal and/or optical design experience a plus.
    Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
    Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams including engineering, sales,
    quality, finance and operations.
    BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 5 years relevant working experience.
    Enthusiastic, self-motivated, proactive, entrepreneurial and highly innovative, can-do attitude,
    resourceful problem solver, comfortable in a fast-moving and highly dynamic environment.
    Experience with Agile, Arena, or equivalent PLM software.
Design for Reliability Engineer

Location: California



Client Company designs world-class LED lighting systems and we need to test everything about the
systems to verify our designs. We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual who is intelligent,
committed and high energy.

The engineer will handle critical design for reliability activities for key components and systems during
the product design and development stages. The candidate should fit in well with the team, be result
oriented and have good communication skills. It is expected the candidates be hands-on in reliability
testing, conduct design-for-reliability analysis, and familiar with life data analysis procedures and tools.
Product life cycle analysis is preferred.



Responsibilities:



        Design-for-reliability analysis during product design and development states.
        Conduct design-for-reliability testing for electronics and LED systems.
        Physics-of-failure approach for testing plan and data analysis.
        Failure rate prediction and life time analysis for components and systems.
        Conduct statistical data analysis and prepare reports.
        Design and conduct accelerated stress testing and prepare reports.
        Be able to perform hands-on work if necessary, i.e. test setup, fixture assembly, soldering, epoxy
        curing and wiring etc.


It is preferred that the candidate will have a graduate degree with related experiences in electronics
components, component selection and qualification, electronic systems and product system reliability
prediction. Experience with Physics-of-failure techniques and industry standards such as IEEE 1413, Mil-
HDB-217F and Telcordia standards will be a plus.



Wafer Fab Planner

Location: California
Plan, schedule and track the wafer fab.
        Work with manufacturing and engineering to balance the line, manage bottlenecks and
        prioritize WIP.
        Develop factory build plans to support demand and factory loading.
        Create and mage the wafer fab capacity model.
        Coordinate with procurement to prioritize materials to support the build plan.
        Review material availability and execute the starts processes.
        Work with the CM planner to coordinate and prioritize die shipments to our contract
        manufacturer.
        Track loading against capacity/planned starts and outs versus planned outs for the fab.
        Maintain and update lead times and yields in the planning systems.
        Work with the master planner to establish die bin inventory levels to support the production
        plan.
        Data maintenance: Scrutinize data to catch and correct errors and omissions.


Qualifications:



        Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field.
        Strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
        English proficiency required.
        Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
        Assertive, collaborative and results oriented.
        Strong MRP and MES understanding.
        Experience in the semiconductor industry is preferred.
        Ability to influence and work cross-functionally with multiple internal partners.
        Experienced in using MS Excel and mining data.
        APICS CPIM certification preferred.




Characterization Scientist

Location: California


This position will be responsible for development of methods for and analysis of electrical, optical and
structural characterization of LEDs. The ideal candidate must be experienced, motivated by solving
difficult problems, and enjoy hands-on work with lab equipment.



Specific Function:
Development and ownership of electrical and optical characterization methodologies and
        systems to contribute to IQE improvement.
        Create clear project reports for LED development team.
        Develop software and hardware for state-of-the-art routine characterization and work with
        technical team to roll out new methodologies.



Experience and Skills:


        Experience with XRD, AFM, light output and electrical characterization of LEDs.
        Experience programming in C# or Labview for test setups.
        Experience using JMP (or other statistical analysis package), scripting languages such as python,
        and SQL databases.



Driver Engineer

Location: California


Client is searching for an experienced, self-motivated senior electrical engineer capable of bringing up a
product from its marketing specifications to its volume production. The candidate should be familiar
with state of the art in LED driving technology and its associated standards and agency compliance
regulations.


Experience and Skills:



        Understand LED driver technology.
        Know techniques in accommodating dimming capability.
        Design skill in passing EMI and safety.
        Schematic entry and layout.
        Capable of working alone on bench to debug out issues.
        Generate necessary reports for production and customer support.
        At least 10 years in LED and power management related experience.




Embedded Engineer

Location: California
Client Company is seeking a full-time Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join our software
development team, provide technical leadership, and thrive in an interdisciplinary engineering
environment. This position will develop state of the art software in the following UAS application areas:

        AVSM / DVSM – aircraft and ground vehicle specific modules for Command and Control (C2).
        CANNodes – distributed aircraft control systems.
        Payload Systems Integration – network communication and data flow.
        Sharkfin – UAS mission management and planning.


Responsibilities:

        Design, develop, and test embedded systems software for UAS programs.
        Provide system architectural vision to the overall UAS system.
        Debug & diagnose system-wide issues that involve the interaction of multiple avionics modules
        onboard the air vehicle and ground station systems.
        Participate in developing requirements to enhance the overall effectiveness of UAV control
        software.
        Development of Software Requirement Specs (SRS) and Interface Data Documentation (IDD).
        Participate in improvements in SQA practices that lead to CMMI 3 certification.

Requirements:

GNC Engineer

Location: California, Maryland and Texas



Client Company is searching for someone with experience in Modeling & Simulation with a focus on
guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) of air vehicles. The ideal candidate will be interested in
analyzing data and developing algorithms for control systems, developing models for use in simulations,
and developing HW/SW systems to verify flight and control algorithms. The candidate will know how to
convert requirements into design, implement design, develop tests, and conduct reviews, integration, and
troubleshooting.



Responsibilities:

        Analysis of control laws to adjust gains for better stability margins and loop bandwidths.
        Analysis of proposed control loop restructuring including selection of gains.
        Design of guidance and control algorithms.
        Use of analytical, ground test, and flight test data to tune system models.
        Incorporate models into processor-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulation systems.
        Document, test, review, integrate, and debug algorithms and integrated systems.



Qualifications:

        Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field and 2-6
        years related experience.
        Knowledge of airplane flight dynamics and control.
        Proficiency in computer languages such as C, C++, Java, LabVIEW.
        Proficiency using engineering tools such as Matlab and Simulink (including Control System
        Toolbox).
        Familiarity with standard lab and test bench tools.
        Familiarity with stochastic systems (for system identification and definition of
        covariance/uncertainty parameters based on sensor, plant and actuator specifications).
        Good communication skills, including development of formal documents and presentation
        material and reports for different audiences.
        Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
        Familiarity with CAD software, DOORS, and other system and development applications desired.

Navigation Engineer

Location: California



Candidate must have extensive experience in navigation systems used in the air defense industry.
Expertise is required in navigation hardware and software COTS products, developmental systems,
integration of COTS and development HW/SW, integration into air vehicles, and ground and flight test.



Responsibilities:

        Gather requirements from multiple customers, end users, program managers, and chief
        engineers and coalesce into creative solutions within budget and schedule constraints.
Analyze system-level requirements and allocate to subsystems and document in lower-level
        specifications.
        Coordinate navigation decisions across domestic and international programs and aerial target
        platforms.
        Develop system and subsystem architecture.
        Conduct trade studies for make/buy decisions and component selection.
        Oversee and contribute to design and implementation of navigation solutions.
        Plan hardware, software, and integration test and develop test cases.
        Oversee test procedure and environment development and test execution.
        Lead navigation and flight control troubleshooting efforts in lab, manufacturing, and field
        environments.
        Thoroughly and clearly document development, integration, and troubleshooting efforts.



Qualifications:

        BS in Engineering, Math, Science, or a related field. MS or Ph.D. preferred.
        15+ years in air navigation system development, integration, and fielding experience.
        Demonstrated leadership and expertise in developing navigation solutions that validate and
        incorporate data from various altitude, heading, pressure, and positional data sources (e.g., GPS,
        INS, radar altimeter, air data, etc.).
        Experience in Kalman filters, error analysis, modeling, control theory, and real-time embedded
        software.
        Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment, achieve consensus, and work closely with
        customers and company leadership.
        Strong communication skills, including development of formal documents and presentation
        material and reports for different audiences.
        Interest in working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.



Desired Skills:

        Navigation solution development for unmanned air vehicles.



Flight Sciences/Flight Controls Engineer

Location: Washington and Maryland



The successful candidate will perform a variety of engineering tasks in the development of aerial target
systems and related subsystems.



Responsibilities:
Preparing, planning, conducting and documenting wind tunnel test programs.
        Aerodynamic loads determination and distribution.
        Performance modeling and simulation.
        Flight test program planning and execution.
        Flight controls development.
        Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis.
        Test and Flight data reduction and analysis.
        Preparing documentation for engineering changes.
        Preparing data and documentation for formal design reviews.
        Foreign and domestic travel to support flight test activities.



Qualifications:

        BS degree in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering, MS degree a plus.
        7 years of related aeronautical engineering work experience.
        Coursework should include: aerodynamics, propulsion, flight performance, stability and control,
        and aircraft design.
        Must be able to work in a multidisciplinary team environment with other Engineering disciplines.
        Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.



Desired Skills:

        Management or lead experience is preferred.
        Familiarity with unmanned aircraft systems and operations is preferred.
        Experience in MATLAB and Simulink modeling systems is strongly preferred.
        Understanding of high speed aerodynamics (transonic and supersonic) is preferred.
        Understanding of autopilot flight control design is desirable.
        Familiarity with C/C++ software is desirable.
        Exposure to jet propulsion technology and composite airframe design methods are desirable.

Electrical Engineer

Candidate will have experience and interest in the development and integration of electronic aspects of
aerospace systems such as UAVs, avionics and associated payloads. General background of interest
includes work with avionics, RF and digital communications, antennas, instrumentation, electrical power,
controls and actuators, etc.
Responsibilities:

•   Subsystem and component level requirements analysis and specification development.
•   Coordination with system design team.
•   RF link analysis/calculations.
•   EMI/EMC analysis, design, verification.
•   Subsystem/system reliability analysis.
