The Arabian Desert is located on the Arabian Peninsula and is one of the largest desert ecoregions in the world. It stretches across parts of Yemen, Oman, Jordan, Iraq, and the Arabian Gulf. With an area over 500,000 square kilometers, it experiences long periods without rain and daily temperatures that range from 120C in winter to over 470C in summer. People living in the desert have physical and behavioral adaptations to conserve water and regulate body temperature, such as having a thin body type, protective skin pigmentation, and avoiding midday heat through shade or rest.
