This document provides an orientation to a Moodle course for bringing new languages to young learners. It outlines how to log in using a username and password and access course materials through various tabs like assignments, local materials, grades, and participants. Students are instructed to post reflections to weekly discussion forums and reply to other students' posts. The goal is for students to self-direct their learning by analyzing practices, setting goals, and applying new strategies with support from instructors and classmates. Questions can be sent to the instructor's email.
2. BNLTYL’s Moodle You will need your username and password. access to the Internet regularly. to know how to save a file from the Internet and/or upload a file to the Internet at some point during this course. regular access to an e-mail address that does not filter e-mails from Moodle, Dawn or Ruta.

11. For each viewing period Log in and read the announcements. Check the viewing period week’s discussion forum under “assignments”. Post your reflection to the prompt in the discussion forum by hitting “reply” to Dawn’s post. Reply to another classmate’s post by hitting “reply” under their individual post.
12. Local Materials The “Local Materials” tab is where you will find links to articles online that you may choose to read for your article reviews.
13. Grades Your grades will be visible in this format when they are posted online. You may access your grades by clicking on the sidebar menu link “grades”
14. Course Participants You can click on the “participants” link to access a listing of your classmates. When you click on each name you will be directed to the profile page. If you click on your own name you will be able to see your own profile and from there, edit your information.
15. Assignment information Please post your assignment no later than midnight on the due date. If you are going to be late for some reason please let Dawn know. Dawn will respond to posts in the discussion forum during the viewing period following your due date. Please be sure to check back to see what she and others have posted to your reflections if you are not subscribed to e-mails for the discussion forums.
16. Please keep in mind… This course is not intended as a “gotcha” kind of course. The goal is to for you to analyze your own practices in light of the research, set your own learning goals, and become self-directed in your growth as a professional while applying new strategies. Your success depends on YOU. Interact with others, learn from others and TAKE risks trying new strategies and and methods. Teachers who have done so in the past have transformed their teaching practices!!
