Mount Vernon invited several well-known political cartoonists from newspapers across the country to draw cartoons focusing on major issues of George Washington’s presidency. Students will analyze uncaptioned versions of these cartoons and background information about the historical issues depicted, create their own captions and exhibit labels, and then compare their writing with the originals.

25 slides(not counting title and reference slide) APA SOURCES:10 “Knowledgeable interaction with works of art makes life better: We see more of what can be seen, and we hear more of what can be heard. Our entire existence grows richer and deeper.” (Sporre, 2009, p. 2). From your studies, you have seen how culture, societal norms, belief systems, and past experiences affect the way people view the world. Learning about these differences in perspective helps us to have a better understanding of the overall human experience. Whether analytical skills are applied to a task at work, or a humanistic point of view enables us to grasp an issue from another angle, these methods of looking at the world help us become more aware of our perceptions and provide a deeper and more meaningful existence. In this task, you will analyze and interpret three creative works from three separate disciplines of the humanities using methods of subjective and objective analysis. Objective statements are based on simple observations and concrete information. Subjective statements are based on personal opinions, judgments, and feelings. These standard methods of analysis will enable you to critically view and interpret works from the humanities. You will use analytical and critical thinking skills to assess how meaning is constructed and imparted to a viewer or audience and will communicate your thoughts in a multimedia presentation (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote). While the content of your presentation will focus on analyzing, interpreting, comparing, and contrasting three creative works from separate disciplines, your overarching goal will be to explain how the three works you analyze demonstrate the value of the humanities in meaningful ways. Background: Develop a multimedia presentation in which you analyze three creative works from three separate disciplines in the humanities. You will need to select works that share a common theme. This theme must relate to a profession within your field of study at WGU. You will share with your audience how being knowledgeable about the humanities and your selected theme is valuable in regards to this profession. First you must choose one literary work from the given list below. Choose a literary work that has a theme that resonates with you and consider how this theme connects with your chosen profession. Every profession within your field of study at WGU (Business, IT, Nursing or Teaching) will have humanistic considerations. For example, a civil rights lawyer may be concerned with the theme of freedom, a firefighter with determination, a social worker with compassion, or an engineer with integrity. It is the intent of this task to explore the major themes of the humanities and their relevance to our professional lives. Once you have selected a literary work, you will need to select two non-literary works from separate disciplines that share the same theme as the literary work you have selected. Your presentation will show how all.

Wicked urban problems are all around us. They also appear in the news…often surrounded by controversy. Case studies of such wicked problems help illustrate the politically-charged interface between government and private stakeholders in urban planning. This assignment requires you to conduct an analysis of the news to identify examples of “wicked” urban problems that are making headlines. You will identify a case study that illustrates the highly political and controversial “wicked” nature of urban planning。 Search the news for articles addressing urban issues that fit the four criteria for “wicked” problems discussed in class. Your task for this assignment is to identify a real-life urban planning case study that illustrates the political, and often controversial, nature of the planning process. Case studies can be local or in another city, can relate to any of the functional areas of planning (e.g. transportation, housing, economic development, environmental planning, etc.), and may be project-specific or focused on larger comprehensive planning activities. Pick a case study for which you can find adequate details and information about the planning problem being addressed. You must find a minimum of three sources of information about your case study. All sources must be properly cited and referenced. Write an essay that clearly addresses the following for the wicked problem you identified: --Explain the background of the urban planning case study being addressed --Discuss why the problem is a “wicked” one: --Why is the problem itself difficult to define? --Why are the causes of the problem uncertain? --Why is there no obvious solution? --How is the problem linked to other problems? --Discuss the public sector and private sector participants and stakeholders involved in the case, and how conflicting values and issues of power contribute to the controversy written essay should be roughly 2-3 single-spaced pages in length, and should be written in essay format(i.e. include an introductory and concluding paragraph, and content paragraphs consisting of well-structuredcomplete sentences). .

SOC 213: Final Project Guidelines and Rubric Overview The final project for this course is the creation of a sociological imagination PowerPoint presentation. The presentation is designed to encourage students to think about social problems—past or present, local or global—using their sociological imagination, which involves looking beyond the traditional expectations or veneer associated with social problems. This sociological skill set is imperative in order for student’s to truly begin to grasp the relationship and distinction between individual biography and social structures. Social problems are aspects of society that communities of people are concerned about and want to change or improve. Because social problems are social creations, students will uncover structural and cultural variables that help explain how a current social problem has emerged and persisted, and students will ultimately develop a “sociological imagination”“—the ability to see behaviors socially and understand how they interact and influence each other. The objective is to submit, in a creative PowerPoint presentation, a compelling case for why a student’s chosen social problem is indeed a social and cultural problem and not simply the result of individual choices. Sociologists do not discount the role of personal responsibility within a certain context, but rather seek to understand the power of an environment in shaping personal choices and patterns. For example, consider the social problem of youth unemployment. It is well-documented that in the last several years of America’s economy, young people have experienced unemployment in greater numbers. A presentation in this course about youth unemployment might be framed initially about how, in an American culture that is so focused on individual responsibility and achievement, an issue such as youth unemployment can be treated as purely an individual problem. False information surrounding youth unemployment at large sounds like this: “Today's youth are self-centered and lazy, and they have a sense of entitlement.” “They are not willing to make the sacrifices that we did by working their way up the corporate ladder.” To more specifically understand this sociological problem, students would need to narrow its parameters by selecting a given time period and/or a specific geographic area for youth unemployment. If a student chose to understand unemployment as a result of the Great Recession, it would be easier to scope the range of factors that contribute to this ongoing issue. To better individualize this issue, a student might choose to share his or her own story or that of a family member or a friend who experienced losing a job. Or, a student could choose to share the narrative from a movie, such as The Pursuit of Happiness or another contemporary example. Following this, it would be important to highlight a particular sociological theory: conflict, functionalism, or symbolic interactionism. Because theories are simp ...

Students will choose a film, present quotes from each of the colorblind racism frames, and analyze them accordingly, in a minimum of 6 pages. As his/her critical-thinking decision-making objective, students should decide whether the societal evidence he/she reviews in the paper (a) demonstrates the typical colorblind pattern that Bonilla-Silva describes in the textbook; or (b) reveals a more progressive and/or minority pattern; or (c) some combination of the above; or (d) some other pattern not discussed in the textbook but worth exploring in future research. The student may find that the quotes he/she analyzes deliberately challenge one of the 4 frames of colorblindness for the future of a multiracial society. In other words, how do the representations discovered in your analysis help and/or hinder a society's progress toward inclusive multiracial democracy? The paper should present quotes that illustrate all 4 frames of colorblindness and analyze them accordingly. .

Enterprise Knowledge’s Urmi Majumder, Principal Data Architecture Consultant, and Fernando Aguilar Islas, Senior Data Science Consultant, presented "Driving Behavioral Change for Information Management through Data-Driven Green Strategy" on March 27, 2024 at Enterprise Data World (EDW) in Orlando, Florida. In this presentation, Urmi and Fernando discussed a case study describing how the information management division in a large supply chain organization drove user behavior change through awareness of the carbon footprint of their duplicated and near-duplicated content, identified via advanced data analytics. Check out their presentation to gain valuable perspectives on utilizing data-driven strategies to influence positive behavioral shifts and support sustainability initiatives within your organization. In this session, participants gained answers to the following questions: - What is a Green Information Management (IM) Strategy, and why should you have one? - How can Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) support your Green IM Strategy through content deduplication? - How can an organization use insights into their data to influence employee behavior for IM? - How can you reap additional benefits from content reduction that go beyond Green IM?
