1. M O N E ’ H A WK I N S
MOM , DAD AND MY LOVELY
SIBLINGS,
THIS IS FOR YOU.
2. MUSIC
BESSIE RAYNER PARKES
Sweet melody amidst the moving spheres
Breaks forth, a solemn and entrancing sound,
A harmony whereof the earth's green hills
Give but the faintest echo; yet is there
A music everywhere, and concert sweet!
All birds which sing amidst the forest deep
Till the flowers listen with unfolded bells;
All winds that murmur over summer grass,
Or curl the waves upon the pebbly shore;
Chiefly all earnest human voices rais'd
In charity and for the cause of truth,
Mingle together in one sacred chord,
And float, a grateful incense, up to God.
3. MUSIC
“Music” Was written by Bessie Rayner Parkes.
In “Music” Bessie used imagery Throughout the entire poem. She shared
what she feels music is. She is not talking about man made music, but music
of the nature. “ A harmony whereof the earth’s green hills give but the
faintest echo; Yet is there A music is everywhere, And concert Sweet! In that
line she is saying that the music and sound of nature is just as good as the
music you would hear at your favorite musicians concert.
This poem has a very positive tone. I too believe that music is more than
voices and a catchy beat. The title is very self explanatory so everyone who
has the slightest love for music feels invited to read.
This poem is a poem of imagery. Bessie really loved earth and nature and I
can believe that after reading this poem. She took what she loved , and
made it into what a lot of people find much more interesting and explained
how Nature which she loves, is much like what you love and just as lovely. I
believe that was Bessie's Greatest strength of this poem.
4. MY BEST & FAVORITE GIRL
RONALD DOE
You brought me my first toy,
My first bike and baseball glove.
You filled my heart with joy,
And you filled my life with love.
You taught me how to count,
And how to say my A, B, C's,
How to say "Your Welcome",
"Thank You" and "Pretty Please".
You taught me "Our Father",
And "Hail Mary, Full of Grace".
And how to greet a neighbor,
With a smile and embrace.
You taught me that all things,
Come from Jesus up above.
But most of all sweet Mother,
You taught me how to love.
You taught me that all leprechauns,
Possessed a pot of gold.
And that they had these unicorns,
Back in the days of old.
You taught me that a fantasy,
Could end up with a scream.
You taught me not to give up,
Not to give up on a dream.
You taught me words of wisdom,
And tended to my every need.
You gave me all the tools,
That a man needs to succeed.
You filled my world with laughter,
And you brightened up my world.
And these are the reasons why,
You're my best and favorite girl.
5. MY BEST & FAVORITE GIRL
“My Best And Favorite Girl” Was written by Ronald Doe after his sister died.
She was in a car accident That left her paralyzed at the age of 16. She lived
for twenty-five years after that. The doctor called the mom after she died
and said "I didn't think Kelly would live 6 months, there is no doubt in my mind
that she lived for twenty-five years because of your unselfish and
unconditional for her“
In this poem Ronald told a story. He shared the most small but meaningful
things his mother taught him from infant to adult. The tone of this poem is
extremely positive. When you read it you can truly tell that Ronald adores
and is very grateful of his mother.
This poem is written in chronological order. It’s simple , he didn’t use big and
unfamiliar words so it’s easy to understand. This poem is something that
everyone can relate to . The Title of the poem is also self explanatory which I
personally feel is the best way to go when tilting a poem.
6. IN MEMORY
KIMBERLY N. CHASTAIN
A thousand times we needed you
A thousand times we cried
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died
A heart of gold stopped beating
two twinkling eyes closed to rest
God broke our hearts to prove he only took the best
never a day goes by that you’re not in my heart and my soul.
7. IN MEMORY
This poem was written by Kimberly N. Chastain.
This poem is one of the simple poems that you can relate too. When
someone has passed away you cry and cry and you miss them
dearly. You know that if love could have saved them they would
have never died. The tone of this poem is a sad but positive in a
way. It’s sad because someone has passed, but dying is not always
a negative thing I believe so I think it is a positive that the person
who has passed away has someone that loves and misses them. It is
also a sad/positive because the person who died was apparently a
good person.” A heart of gold stopped beating , two twinkling eyes
closed to rest, god broke our hearts to prove he only took the best”
This poem will be easily loved by people who has ever lost
somebody. It is simple and short but it means a lot. This is one of my
favorite poems because when someone important to you passes
away this is exactly how you feel.
8. MY POEMS
1) Anticipating, excited for your presence
Your conversation, smile and energy
no desire for you to flood me with gifts or
presents
just a lost girl, Some may say, In need of her
fathers love
she is strong, humorous, happy and
ambitious
often tucks in her true feelings, brushes
negativity of with a shrug
lies awake at night wondering what things
would be like
if mother and father would have stayed
tight
Growing with wisdom, knowledge and an
open mind
now understanding and angry how selfish
she was in the past
both parents moved on, she is happy but
still wonders time-to-time
on what it would be like if mother and
father would have stayed tight
just wonders, No desire for it to be
she lays and smiles, as long as they're
happy now, It's alright
9. MOM
So strong but yet so tiny, standing only 5'3
Patient,Loving,Caring,Wise and so much more
If you can stack quality's , Yours would be as tall
as a tree
The way you eyebrows s ink when you are upset
the way you crack your toes as soon as you
wake
or the way your eyes drag when in need of
some rest
That silly dance you do
that you look you give when after a phone call
I ask who you were talking to
• You are so predictable
• everything from the littlest movement and
statements
• I hate that when you get home from work
your shoulder is aching
• whatever you want or need i will do for you
• Mom, I love you
11. TO YOU
Macho, strong, cool, tough you men are
you have your boys your muscles and your shiny cars
The way you guys just pick up and drop women like a peddle or rock
no matter how macho ,cool , tough you are
no matter how clean you keep your car which you often refer to as your baby
one day you will sit stop and admit
I have all of these nice things I love, mother was right
it's better to have true love with a women to go home to each night.
12. TOO MY MINI ME
Everybody wants something, you've got to want something
what are you living for?
Everybody needs that something , you fighting for something
i know what your fighting for
We all want love
some say we all have a true love, god has made a soul mate for each of us
you might not find that person until after a few break-ups
so just be patient and know that someone is waiting for you too
13. MOM, DAD AND MY SIBLINGS
There is no way that I could have dedicated this
project to just one of you, I want you all to know that
writing poetry is trickier than it looks, but when you
are passionate and love what you are writing about it
comes easy. You guys are always there for me . You
make me laugh, happy and you guys also make me so
angry haha, but I wouldn’t trade you guys for the world.
Hope you guys love it.
Love, Mone’
