This is the story of a day (16 hours) in the life of a businessman. It’s told in the form of a “Rock Opera” with dialogue interspersed among eleven songs. The music and lyrics set the mood and describe situations in his day, ranging from his morning shower and his struggles with office politics to his introspective look at who he is and his journey home at the end of the day. The story elicits strong emotions as the main character searches for answers to questions about who he is and what he’s supposed to do. He looks for guidance from a voice on his car radio. He tries to find meaning in his work routine. He marvels at the eternal optimism of some of his co-workers. And he consults with his “other self” . . . the one that isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions and recommend actions. A Long Day’s Journey Into Business (ALDJIB) is a tough and thought provoking look at American business. Sit back, relax and let it take you for a ride. You may be surprised where you end up at the end of your journey.
