HYDROLOGIS
HydroloGIS is a small (very small) engineering company
based in Bolzano (north Italy)

NECESSARY SOFTWARE
First download the software necessary for the workshop:

The content explained:
gss-2.15.war: the server application
apache-tomcat-9.0.10.tar.gz: the 'web server'
gss_v2.15.tar.gz: docker image for offline installation

INSTALLATION FOR LINUX

GET THE DOCKER IMAGE (ONLINE
MODE)
Assuming you have docker installed, just run:
This will download and install the docker image on your
system.
docker pull moovida/gss:2.15

RUN THE SERVER
To run the server just do:
This will start a server that uses /home/hydrologis/GSS as
data folder and port 8080 for its webservice.
 the above command also downloads and installs the
docker image.
docker run -v /home/hydrologis/GSS:/home/basefolder
-p 8080:8080 moovida/gss:2.15

INSTALLATION FOR WINDOWS (OR
LINUX)

INSTALLATION OF TOMCAT
First extract the archive apache-tomcat-9.0.10.tar.gz, it
should give you a folder like this:
apache-tomcat-9.0.10
|-- LICENSE
|-- NOTICE
|-- bin
[...]
|-- webapps
`-- work

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WINDOWS
AND LINUX
In the following steps the only difference is in the extension
of the script files.
 If you are on linux, just use all *.sh commands instead
of the *.sh ones.

SETUP THE GSS WEBAPP
Set a proper memory value for the application and a
workspace path through the right environmental variables.
Create the file: apache-tomcat-9.0.10/bin/setenv.bat
and insert in it:
4g stands for upper memory limit of 4 gigabytes
/path/to/workspace/folder is the workspace folder to
use. If not existing, it will be created.
set JAVA_OPTS=-Xms1g -Xmx4g -Dstage.globalfolder=/path/to/workspace/folder

13.
INSTALL THE GSS APPLICATION
Delete everything inside the folder:
Then copy the file of the Geopaparazzi server gss-2.15.war
into the folder and rename it to ROOT.war
apache-tomcat-9.0.10/webapps

14.
RUN GSS
Run the script file:
Then open a browser on to see if the
application runs properly.
apache-tomcat-9.0.10/bin/catalina.bat run
