  6. High school computers in Spring of 2011 vs Fall of 2012 Dictionaries for every student. Value - VVE teacher rotating kids through back of the classroom computers. Instant ON
  7. Kinder blog at BCE CCE shared model vs. EE 1 cart-per classroom Khan Academy - advanced
  8. notice anything?
  9. 1:1 Research has been happening for years. Here’s just a few. The only difference was, these weren’t iPads.
  10. Project Red. A study of 997 schools across the United States revealed 9 key factors to successful implementations. The top three being: 1. Ensuring uniform integration of technology in every class - (Marzano & Waters, 2009) 2. Providing time for teacher learning and collaboration (at least monthly) - (Marzano 2003) 3. Using technology daily for meaningful student online collaboration and cooperative learning - (Marzano, Pickering & Pollock, 2001)
  11. Much of this modeled after the WIFI implementation. More informal conversations mixed in with formal presentations similar to the one we made to the Board on March 5th. stage 2 - address and discuss concern over screen time, common language between school and parents regarding the privedges earned. Stage 3 - examples of usage, internet responsible usage as earned, training parents
  12. Much of this modeled after the WIFI implementation. Stage 3 - examples of usage, internet responsible usage as earned, training parents
  13. Get it in the hands of teachers early! several days prior to student use. We also cut back Ed Techs, switched to Google, got rid of an extra PLC time period. (DON’T do that)
  14. SAMR Model - Dr. Ruben Puentadura Substituting - tech improves with no functional change (notes) Augmenting - using the tools to enhance the lesson and there is a functional change. (FaceTime audio note) Modification - tech promotes for redesign of tasks. (band on field recording Peak - tech creates new tasks and integration
  15. 1 1/2 hour summer orientation Some built in trainings over basic apps at late start, appy hours share time
  16. More subject/grade level specific training is what the staff wants. Apple academy (restricted) iTunesU “flipping” iPadpalooza June 19th
  17. Stage 1 - discussing this with students now, cyberbullying, digital permanence Stage 2 - As privelidges increase, so does awareness and responsibility Stage 3 - Student has earned rights to usage, fully able to personalize their learning
  18. Video played on launch day during all english period classes. Someone from both teams available for questions Also, repeating these expecatations throughout the year - Keener in Canada class example
  19. What about the money? Couple of misconceptions out there - 1. Bond money should be spent on salaries. Can’t do that. Community voted to spend 15.365 mill on technology. That’s what we’re spending it on. 2. iPads aren’t computers. In the original package designed in Nov of 2009, iPads didn’t exist, so we use the term “computers” and actually acknowledged that this is a loose term as technology changes so quickly. 3. We won’t need more money - now with infrastructure going down, we can put more devices in the hands of kids.
  20. Substitution plan vs. Value add
  21. All - in - one. Aside from paper consumption, battery life and instant on - Look at all the other things we won't be buying with extras apps Doc cam Camera Camcorder Clicker Laptop Textbooks?
  22. All - in - one. Aside from paper consumption, battery life and instant on - Look at all the other things we won't be buying with extras apps Doc cam Camera Camcorder Clicker Laptop Textbooks?
  23. What kind of message are you giving? Make sure students have some rights to personalize, otherwise its just a locked down fast-booting laptop.
  24. Linda - review
