- 8. Psychologists believe that colours affect human moods and emotions. In order to give users a psychological experience we needed have an understanding of how the mind perceives colour and how we can best use it invoke the desired emotion
- 9. RED Physical. longest wavelength, powerful colour, often appears closer than it is, grabs attention, its effect is physical, it stimulates and raises the pulse rate. Negative: Defiance, aggression, visual impact, strain.
- 10. BLUE. Intellectual. Colour of the mind, essentially soothing, affects us mentally. Strong Blues simulate clear thought and lighter blues calm the mind and aid concentration can be perceived as cold, unemotional and unfriendly. Negative: Aloofness, lack of emotion, unfriendliness.
- 11. YELLOW. Emotional wavelength is relatively long and essentially stimulating. It stimulates emotion and is the strongest colour psychologically. The right tone can lift our spirits and self-esteem. Too much or the wrong tones in a colour scheme can cause our self esteem to plummet. It can give rise to Irrationality, fear, emotional fragility, depression, anxiety and is seen as the colour of suicide.
- 12. GREEN. Balance Positive: Harmony, balance, refreshment, universal love, rest, restoration, reassurance, environmental awareness, equilibrium, peace. Negative: Boredom, stagnation, blandness, enervation.
- 13. VIOLET. Spiritual The shortest wavelength is violet, often described as purple Positive: Spiritual awareness, containment, vision, luxury, authenticity, truth, quality. Negative: Introversion, decadence, suppression, inferiority.
- 14. ORANGE. combination of yellow and red is a stimulating reaction combination of the physical and emotional Positive: Physical comfort, food, warmth, security, sensuality, passion, abundance, fun. Negative: Deprivation, frustration, frivolity, immaturity
- 15. PINK. tint of red, it affects us physically, but it soothes, rather than stimulates. Powerful colour in Psychology. Represents the feminine principal and the survival of the species. Too much can be emasculating and draining Negative: Inhibition, emotional claustrophobia, emasculation, physical weakness.
- 16. GREY. Pure grey has no direct physiological properties, however it is suppressive. The absence of colour is depressing Negative: Lack of confidence, dampness, depression, hibernation, lack of energy.

Black is essentially an absence of light, since no wavelengths are reflected and it can, therefore be menacing; many people are afraid of the dark. Positive: Sophistication, glamour, security, emotional safety, efficiency, substance. Negative: Oppression, coldness, menace, heaviness.
