4. You may think getting current is a big
migration
• Many application platforms require a huge project with multiple moving
parts to move to current releases
• Application Servers
• Web Servers
• Database Schemas
• Security
• Directory Integrations
• Etc.
• Domino can be upgraded in place (subject to OS/hardware limitations)
• Or a new Domino 11.0.1 environment can be created and then the
applications can be transferred over using replication – no development
required
5. Domino is a single integrated
environment featuring everything you need for
the applications that run your business
• Applications that were written on earlier Domino releases will run on
the latest version of Domino (11.0.1) without any
development/change*
13. What about the Notes client?
• If you wish to continue using the Notes client you can also upgrade
from those releases direct to Notes 11.0.1 – in place
• Alternatively, HCL Client Application Access (HCAA) is a smaller and
leaner client that can run the applications that run your business -
unchanged
• The HCL Nomad clients enable you to run your Notes applications on
iOS (iPhone and iPad) , Android (Phone and Tablet) and ChromeOS
• The forthcoming Nomad Web client is a progressive web application
which will allow you to run your Notes applications unchanged in a
web browser without having to install any client
14. We love secure, reliable mail on Domino!
• If you prefer Notes for mail and calendaring then we have just
released Notes 11.0.1 with many innovations including seamless
freetime interoperability option with O365, Gsuite and others
• HCL Verse offers a progressive web application for Domino mail using
a web browser on desktop or mobile
• There are also native Verse apps for Android and iOS devices
• Also HCL Traveler for Microsoft Outlook enables access to Domino
mail/calendar/contacts for Outlook users
15. I’ve got Domino servers all over the place –
how do I figure out this PVU thing?
• Processor Value Units was an IBM method of measuring the horse
power available to servers. PVUs measured the power available not
the processing power actually used
• Virtualisation created a big headache for server based licensing;
hence the requirement for ILMT or BigFix
16. HCL Term based User Licensing
• Simple industry standard Per User / Per Month entitlement
• No charges for servers
• No complications with virtualisation
• No complications with cloud
• No compliance / audits
• No ILMT / Bigfix requirement
17. Benefits
• Access to latest releases and support
• Access applications from any device
• Modernise applications
• New Lo-code development with Domino Volt
• Reduce Total Cost of Ownership
• Simplified administration / automation
• Better integration with 3rd Party solutions such as Active Directory
18. Predictable release cadence – continuous
value from HCL
• Domino 10 Released October 2018
• Domino 11 Released November 2019
• Domino Volt 1.0.1 July 2020
• HCL Verse 2.0 July 2020
• Domino 12 announced and due H1 2021
• Domino 13 TBA but expected 2022

19. What if we don’t have Domino admins or
developers anymore?
• HCL Software Services are here to help you upgrade
• Over 1500 HCL Digital Solution business partners can help you
modernise and upgrade
• HCL Domino Volt is Lo-code and requires minimal Domino or
development skills

21. As a customer, we mainly use cloud solutions now.
We don’t have the resources/infrastructure/desire
to maintain on premises servers
• Many, many HCL business partners are also skilled and experienced in
hosting your Domino environment for you
• This is not a migration but a “lift and shift” operation where your
Domino environment is moved either to the partners data centre or
to a cloud hosted environment managed by the partner
• This will normally be transparent to users – they can access the
applications that run their business in the same way they did before
• Partner offer services as required, varying from just hosting your
servers through to hosting, managing, maintaining, supporting and
modernising your Domino and application infrastructure
22. Sure – but I just want a SaaS service like O365 or
Gsuite. Can I have that for HCL Software? Yes!
