A non-fiction book is an informational text. It gives
us facts about a topic.
Examples of non-fiction topics are:
History (countries, religion, wars)
Cook books
Art books
Science
Health

Table of Contents
Real photographs or drawings
Captions to describe the photo or drawing
Chapter titles/headings to let you know what that
section is about (includes bold and italics)
Maps/Charts
Index
Glossary

Has a number on the spine label or a B for biography.
The number is between 000 and 999
The numbers represent these topics:
000- General books (things like encyclopedias)
100- Psychology (study of our brain, thoughts and feelings)
200-Religion and Myths
300- Fairy tales/Folk Tales/Tall Tales
400- Language (learning other languages)
500- Science

6. Where are non-fiction books in our
library?
In the back of the library, on three large shelves.
History books continue to the opposite side of the
magazine rack.
Biography room in the back.
Check the display!
You will know it is a non-fiction book because there is a
number on the spine of the book or a B for biography.
If your book has F/FIC/letters, it is not a non-fiction
book.
